Mrlittle
I saw this on Goddard Group Facebook and got excited. I'm a huge fan of Cirque. Today is a milestone day in the history of theme parks, as at this very moment, our Founder & Chairman, Gary Goddard, is in Riviera Maya, Mexico announcing our most incredible project to date- the world's first CIRQUE DU SOLEIL THEME PARK RESORT. This unprecedented collaboration between Cirque du Soleil, the Goddard Group, and Grupo Vidanta will be unlike anything else the world has seen before. Stay tuned for more details in the coming hours and days! Here's an article I found here Cirque du Soleil is venturing into the theme-park business. The world-famous circus producer is teaming up with Mexican resort and tourism-infrastructure developer Grupo Vidanta to build and operate a “first-of-its-kind immersive theme park experience in Nuevo Vallarta.” Montreal-based Cirque and Grupo Vidanta are providing few details, saying the project is still in development, but that it may include a water park and nature park. It will also feature an outdoor evening show for 3,000 to 5,000 spectators. Each “experience” in the amusement park will be animated by Cirque artists and follow a “common storyline,” the partners said in a news release Wednesday. “Grupo Vidanta is offering us an amazing sandbox in which we can unleash our creativity,” Cirque founder Guy Laliberté said. Cirque and Vidanta are already collaborating on a “theatrical and culinary” show called Joya, set to premiere in Riviera Maya Nov. 21. Cirque got its start in 1984 when a group of street performers – including stilt-walker Mr. Laliberté – got together to put on big-top shows without animals. It now boasts more than 5,000 employees globally and produces more than a dozen shows worldwide.

Nrthwnd
Been a couple of years or so, but this was posted recently at Screamscape.com... (10/13/16) According to the latest details released about the Cirque du Soleil theme park, we can expect to see this highly themed creation open in Mexico sometime in 2018, from the Vidanta resort company who was also behind the Cirque do Soleil JOYA dinner theater attraction. A new piece of artwork leaked out on the Goddard Group Facebook page showing off an amazing looking waterslide collection, where the slides look like vines coming down from the top of a giant stone goddess head, opening up at the ends in flowers to dump guests into the pools below. I don't know too many details yet, but it sounds as if a themed waterpark may actually be the first phase of the concept planned to open. Anyone know more?
