gisco
Little short on detail. The claim to be the worlds largest temperature controlled indoor entertainment destination is a little dubious.

jedimaster1227
http://www.arabianbusiness.com/dubai-s-worlds-of-adventures-open-in-early-2014-502859.html#.UaKypJWXKfG IMG Group's Worlds of Adventure theme park in Dubai is set to open in early 2014, a senior executive with the developer has said. The theme park, which will be located in Dubai’s much-delayed City of Arabia development in Dubailand, will consist of four zones – the Marvel Universe, the Cartoon Network zone, the Lost Valley zone, and the IMG entertainment zone, as well as a 12-screen cinema, and external F&B and retail areas. According to Alexander Page, vice president – marketing, Ilyas & Mustafa Galadari Group (IMG), construction is currently on track for the facility, which will consist of roller coasters, themed experiences and other attractions. “Work is happening on two fronts. The on-site construction works have been moved forward significantly with structural columns and space frames being installed," he told Hotelier Middle East. "Thereafter the offsite ride manufacturing of various vendor sites is currently being done simultaneously with shipment planned in the later part of this year. So rides, the themes, the attractions and different pieces that make up the park are in different parts of the world being made and finalised,” he said. The first phase of the theme park will be in excess of 1.5m sq ft, making it the largest indoor entertainment destination in the world. The park is designed to attract in excess of 20,000 visitors per day and ticket prices will be in line with other attractions. “The pricing structure will be very competitive. We haven’t finalised it yet but we know what other attractions are charging. Our capacity is much higher, much larger, so we are not going to be overpriced whatsoever. We want people to come and enjoy the theme park,” said Page. “In terms of the scale and size of it, it is very likely that you will need a full day if not much more to be able to try all the rides or the attractions so there will be day passes where people can come back within the same week, there will be annual memberships, VIP entries,” he said. Earlier this month, plans for a dinosaur theme park were announced by IMG Group which claimed The Lost Valley will be the first of its kind in the theme park industry and will include animatronic dinosaurs and rollercoaster rides. Spread over 270,000 square feet, the dinosaur attraction was the third to be announced in the 1.5m sq ft IMG Theme Park. The first two zones will be designed around Marvel Comic and Cartoon Network characters, while the fourth and fifth zones will be announced in due course. jedimaster1227
http://gulfnews.com/business/tourism/img-worlds-of-adventure-to-open-in-mid-2014-1.1282098 The opening of IMG Worlds of Adventure (IMGWOA) has been pushed back to mid 2014, according to Adam Alexander Page, vice-president of group marketing at Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari Group, the owner of the entertainment facility. “We are set for a midyear soft opening and official shortly after,” Page said. The facility was expected to open in the early part of the year. “The changes on opening schedules are related to expansions of the design and scale of the project,” he said. “The park has a number of world firsts as attractions, some of these have never been designed before. A project of this size is not a small feet to design and build,” he added. Covering an area in excess of 1.5 million square feet (140,000 square metres), IMGWOA will feature rides, attractions and retail outlets. It will consist of the Marvel, Cartoon Network, Lost Valley and IMG Boulevard zones, as well as a 12-screen cinema. The entertainment facility is part of the City of Arabia project, which is a retail, residential, commercial and entertainment mixed-use development covering 20 million square feet in Dubailand. Work on the theme park, valued at more than $1 billion, is in progress, according to Page. “We’re finishing the foundations of the rides and the structure of the actual building is complete,” he said. The pricing of tickets is “under discussion,” he added.

cymonster-rex
i find it weird that Disney would allow marvel to sell rights to a none Disney theme park.
jedimaster1227
Considering Disney seems to have no direct interest in directly participating in this regional market, it makes complete sense that they would allow another entity to utilize their brand here, reaping the financial benefit without carrying any of the financial risk or political pushback. jedimaster1227
http://gulfnews.com/business/tourism/img-worlds-of-adventure-receives-rides-1.1314183 IMG Worlds of Adventure (IMGWOA), a theme park in Dubailand, has started receiving rides ahead of its opening at the end of the year, according to Adam Alexander Page, vice-president of group marketing at Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari (IMG) Group, the owner of IMGWOA. The entertainment facility, valued at more than $1 billion, was expected to open in the early part of the year, but has now got deferred until the year-end. “The changes on opening schedules are related to expansions of the design and scale of the project,” Page previously told Gulf News. Alongside rides, IMGWOA will feature retail outlets and conference facilities for corporate events. It will consist of the Marvel, Cartoon Network, Lost Valley and IMG Boulevard zones, as well as a 12-screen cinema. According to Page, work on the theme park, which covers an area in excess of 1.5 million square feet, is progressing well. The space frame structure has already been erected, he said, adding that work on the roof, wall cladding and panelling has commenced. He, however, did not comment on whether or not the retail brands have signed up to be at the theme park. The entertainment facility is part of the City of Arabia project, which is a retail, residential, commercial and entertainment mixed-use development covering 20 million square feet. With IMGWOA, IMG Group aims to position Dubai and the UAE as an international themed entertainment destination. The emirate is boosting its retail and leisure offering. By 2020, it expects to double the number of visitors to 20 million from 10 million in 2012. Around 25 million visitors are expected to arrive when Dubai hosts Expo 2020, a global exhibition that Dubai won the bid for last year. IMGWOA is participating at Comic Con 2014, which is being held between April 3 and 5 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. MrSum1_55
It is a bit ironic that, with all these big projects planned for Dubai, the one that did actually get built was a Blue Fire clone. (Yes, I am aware that Formula Rossa exists. And that it is in Abu Dhabi, not Dubai) However, I still will not be supporting the Emirates anytime soon as long as slave labor is still being used.
