Ironically I feel that one of the few things that would have worked *is* a Hard Rock branded hotel. I almost think that would have done decent business especially if Casinos are allowed in S.C.

^ I also feel like a Hard Rock Hotel would have worked... but not at the location the park was at. Now if they put it at Broadway at the Beach near the Hard Rock Cafe, then I could see it doing well. Actually if the whole park was over near there, I could have seen it surviving if they lowered the ticket prices a bit.

^I think location was the the park's biggest issue. Access from the beach area was poor, and people go to Myrtle Beach for just that--the beach. Being closer to the waterfront would've helped (along with more realistic operating hours and admission prices).

^Exactly. People go to beaches for the beach, mixed with some activities that only take a few hours at a time - mini golf, pools, go karts, even the Pavilion. You don't take a family trip to the beach with the expectation of blowing $200 on four tickets and spending an entire day at a theme park, that just isn't what beach trips entail to the average person.

I'm a little surprised that a park chain hasn't stepped in to get the rides for a steal then level the place and sell the land.

As big of a pain in the ass as that ferris wheel coaster was to put together and operate, I wouldn't want it. I'm sure someone like VF or MA would like to have the beemer, they need it.

^I always assumed when that ride gets sold off someone will invest a bit of money to just give it a traditional lift.

The Premier coaster is a fun little ride, too. Led Zeppelin/Time Machine has a great drop and is smooth through the cobra roll, but then becomes a forceless, rattly disappointment. I just hope the decision is made one way or another in the next 6 months or so. Sell the rides before they are no longer usable.

That's the only feature that makes it stand out, though; otherwise, it's a pretty standard family coaster (not bad, just not all that interesting).

They will be usable for a long time, it doesn't go as fast as one would think for a ride to get unusable .Sure you might need a few parts swap out and so after a few years, but they will certainly be usable.

Besides, the park still has one employe who is there to run the rides and maintain them every now and then, so they will not rust away.

The Megalite is *the* roller coaster of the world! (after finally riding Expedition Geforce I'll admit it was pretty awesome as well!)
