itnotfair
This was my last Saturday before the school year begins, so Laurice and I decided to add another notch to the old credit bedpost and hit the inland empire's beautiful family fun center, Scandia. It's mainly a minigolf place, but they did have a race track, a batting cage, bumper boats, some flat rides, and a steel triple out and back called the "Scandia Screamer." It is the biggest Miler coaster ever built, I think. Its also rather rickety, a bit rough, and lots of fun! Overall, we were impressed with this little park. It was well groomed, the water wasn't dyed a funky blue or green (or red! seen it!), and the staff was friendly! And for $22 we got unlimited everything, all day!! Holy crap thats classy! That being said, I doubt we'll ever be back. Its kind of far from Los Angeles, and for a bit more money, we could hit KBF or SFMM for much better thrills, and similar quality bathrooms. Totally worth the credit though! On with the pictures!! And thanks for reading! Thanks Scandia! We'll probably never go again, no offense! After that last race, I was pretty pleased with myself. Laurice says "I like race cars!" Zamperla! They also designed Pony Express! At least they're consistent in ride quality! This is a poopy ship swing. Its sluggish and doesn't go very high. Three times around! What a nice ride op! Lift-hill centerfold. Not a credit (for me), but what a well-landscaped coaster! One more credit? (hope hope hope) Heck no! I rode the Sceamer! It's a harrowing experience, to say the least! Its a jumbled tangle of steel! Or is it a jangled tumble? It doesn't matter! Ah, Ontario, you take my breath away. We're not worried at all! Now THAT'S a warning! The Scandia Screamer, my 44th coaster!! Nerd? Yes! Gangsta? Clearly not. The park is actually very nicely landscaped! Too bad the little mermaid is a slut, huh, honey? That's my, "where are my sunglasses?" face. Scandia, its like Scandinavia abridged. Not a great entrance, but the coaster is running, so who cares? Isitrunning?Isitrunning?Isitrunning?Isitrunning?Isitrunning?Isitrunning? Eat your heart out, famous circus trees of Gilroy Gardens! We were paid in burgers. Before our trip to Scandia, we were asked to speak at the graduation ceremony for the class of 2008.
Nrthwnd
Great TR. From the In-n-Out U to the crossed palm trees (too bad it wasn't "The Big W" from "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World," lol) ... and then that lovely little landscaped Dipper coaster.... Great tour. Thanks for sharing it.
itnotfair
Thanks! Glad to get some positive feedback. Laurice's camera ran out of batteries kind of early this trip, so hopefully our next TR will have more slutty coaster shots for all to enjoy. mattnz
Nice job. Screamer looks pretty fearsome! Always great to see little known parks and coasters.
Goliath513
In-N-Out - The only thing I miss about not living in California anymore. Good trip report and photos.
Luka
Not bad for a small park. Little dipper looks really awesome with all that theming! Thanks for sharing
Wood Dragon 1988
I have never been to.....or even seen.....an In-Out in my life. The food looks great for fast food. The west has so many good fast food joints the east doesn't. Good TR, doesn't look like a bad stop on the 2009 Cali trip!
TheRapidsNerd
Cool first PTR. That's the biggest Miler coaster I've ever seen. Wow! That's definately and "I LIIIIIIIIVVVVE!" moment getting off that thing.
natatomic
Well, if that's how they're going to be about it, when I'm pregnant and I start to go into labor, I'm going to head right to the park, get in line for this and have my baby right there in the station. And when I get on the coaster immediately afterward, THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO SAY ANYTHING! Pwahaha...
AllenA07
I've driven by that park so many times on the freeway and generally the coaster isn't running. I will admit however the few times I've seen it open I've thought about pulling off and grabbing the credit. Nice trip report!
Electerik
^^ Yeah, that'll show 'em! You know, I've actually been to this place. Rode the coaster and everything. But I remember almost nothing about it, even after looking at this TR. Thanks for trying to jog my memory, though.
RCFreak
I've been to that park exactly one time in my entire life living out here(about 10 years ago actually) and it looks like nothing has changed! At least Castle Park has added new rides lol. Great TR and glad to know I don't need to go back yet any time soon.
itnotfair
^ Speaking of Castle Park, do you know if the screamin' demon is open yet?
RCFreak
I haven't been able to get out that way in a while, so I'm not sure, the ride looked complete except for it's comsetic changes (aka stickers) so if it's not already then it should be soon. itnotfair
This trip occured in late March, so forgive the 5 month time lapse. After I saw the Deep South TPR travelers gagging on Beverly, it reminded me to get my TR together! I was so excited to hear that Speed: the Ride was reopening just in time for our trip. That meant we'd be adding four new coasters to our lists. One last nostalgia shot of Desperado on the way home. Can you see what we ate for breakfast? Thanks for reading! ...at least not by us! Penn and Teller rule! Luckily, we had one more awesome thing to do before leaving! No...no firearms were fired during this trip... Post-coaster depression shot #2. She doesn't want to either. Post-coaster depression shot #1. I don't want to go home. Sadly, this is the best shot of the coaster I got. This Premier launcher was a great coaster to finish the trip, and if you haven't yet, I recommend riding it ASAP, as it may not be there much longer. Speed was the best coaster in Vegas, hands down! I think I will make up a new word to describe its excellence...Launchtrilescent! Laurice was glad to leave Circus Circus, and I can't blame her! We did like the coaster, though! Next on the itinerary, Speed: the Ride! This coaster was intense! It whips you through two loops and a double corkscrew before you can say "This casino/amusement park is kind of depressing." Time for the second Arrow of the trip, The Canyon Blaster. Next stop...adventure! Honey, it's moving! Beverly. These girls were watching us just to see our reactions, and my reaction made them laugh. I, however, could only cry. ...and...oh dear lord, no! ...home of this creepy thing... In the same complex was this little gem... The M&M's store was right across the street. I'm not sure what's happening here. For example, why is he smelling his finger? I was!! I couldn't help it, seeing how this was the view from our room! Not a smooth ride, but the dive loop had some pretty sweet hangtime. Next stop, Vegas! Wait, no, New York! You decide! Most importantly, it's my first Togo... Do I look excited? Though we didn't ride it, the flume ride looked pretty cool, it went through the casino, and even had targets for shootin' at. And they give away free money! Unfortunately, we learned a new rule. "Win small in Primm, lose big in Vegas!" ...which is themed pretty extensively on the inside! The loading station is actually in Buffalo Bill's casino... Desperado = rough, but really fun! My Mom rode this when she beat her breast cancer. Go Mom! Its probably my favorite Arrow after X2. Mmm...Arrow hyper-goodness... But wait, what's that I see on the horizon?! I was not excited to drive the rest of the way. Laurice was excited to drive halfway!

krazekiddd
Awesome trip report!! I'm really looking forward to hitting up the coasters during the TPR trip in August! Thanks for getting me even more excited.
CorkscrewFoley
I don't know why, but when I saw the pic with the Gun Store advert, I kept thinking of Ammnu-Nation from GTA. lol Say, did they offer you a second ride on Manhattan Express for free or at a lesser price? My buddy Larry went a few years back to Vegas, and his aunt rode it once, and they offered her a second ride, and she had had enough.
itnotfair
Thanks for the comments! ^To answer your question, yes, I think "Roller Coaster" at NY NY is cheaper the second time around, and yes, like Larry's Aunt we also declined another ride! Why? First of all, it's rough. Second, the shoulder restraints are painful, and third, its just not that fun. It's pretty tall, but the track never goes below a certain point, so you never get any really great drops or airtime. I enjoyed the dive loop element, as I mentioned earlier, but that's about it! Still, I'd say it is definitely worth riding for a coaster junky, as it's the only other Togo this side of KD, and the highly-themed hotel serves as a great backdrop for the coaster. Sir Clinksalot
And they give away free money! Unfortunately, we learned a new rule. "Win small in Primm, lose big in Vegas!" Yeah, we learned this a few years back. We always do pretty well in Primm. Thanks for the shots.
Electerik
Thanks for the TR! I'm a pretty big fan of Desperado, myself. Now that Arrow is no longer around, a lot of their funkiness seems more charming.
itnotfair
^Agreed! My first coaster was the Matterhorn, so I think I will always have a soft spot for Arrow. I especially enjoyed the bunny hills on Desperado. They are less curved and more angular than any I've been on, so the airtime pops were pretty intense! See what I mean? Pointy hills! dino
Cool TR, almost...scrumtrulescent . What's with the ho-hum look at In-n-out though? Even if you weren't excited about having to drive the rest of the way..."You're at In-n-out!"
ThatFearless
I went on the one in New York, New York. It was my second flipping coaster. I don't remember it very well though so I guess it wasn't that exciting.
itnotfair
What's with the ho-hum look at In-n-out though? Haha! Good point, we're very lucky here in California to have In-n-Out! I pay a bit more homage to the great fast food chain in my Scandia TR. We even stopped at the University of In-n-Out, where you can get your degree in burger flipping! Thanks for the kind words and for catching the Will Ferrell reference! Still...I'm sad that no one has caught the Tom Jones/Dana Carvey allusion...
