Re: Silver Dollar City (SDC) Discussion ThreadHey, question for those that know more than myself: there's a good chunk of unused queue in the space between Wildfire and the Log Flume. Was this extended queue for something, or was it for some previous attraction, or some other purpose?
Re: Silver Dollar City (SDC) Discussion Thread
I believe it's Wildfire's overflow queue, although I'm not sure how long it's been since it's been used, if it ever has. Top 10: 1. The Voyage 2. Outlaw Run 3. Millennium Force 4. SkyRush 5. Maverick
6. El Toro 7. Fahrenheit 8. Storm Runner 9. Thunderbird 10. Powder Keg Re: Silver Dollar City (SDC) Discussion ThreadOh it was used in 2001 for sure. I remember waiting in a line that started by the Wildfire sign down by the lumber camp, then went through all those switchbacks to the right of the main path, went under American Plunge, used all the queue to the right of the main path after the Plunge, and finally entered the queue building. The bubble thing still worked, and the queue used the second floor above the gift shop. Everybody wanted to ride SDC's only looping coaster.
The indoor queue can handle a line of over an hour, which for SDC is stupid long, so I've rarely seen it go out of the building at all. Even on those rare occasions, and it takes something like a 70 degree day during Christmas to do it, the line just curves around the side of the regular path and they still don't open the overflow queue. I doubt they'll ever use it again, but I'm not sure what else that space could be used for, so might as well leave it. Re: Silver Dollar City (SDC) Discussion ThreadI was shocked to see them using the second floor of the Wildfire queue last time we were at the park. The line was out of the building, so we just though (like usual) they just hadn’t opened up all of the lower switch backs. Needless to say when we got in the building and saw it going up the stairs, and coming back down... we bailed. We love Wildfire... but not waiting that long for it!

Wowsers. ![]()
They could plant trees. Re: Silver Dollar City (SDC) Discussion Thread^ Yeah, well, 18 years later it's not as hot a ticket as it was then. Ah well. Still a good ride, and glad you got some walkons for it. And I'm always down for SDC getting more trees.
Re: Silver Dollar City (SDC) Discussion ThreadAn official teaser has been put out by SDC regarding the new water ride replacing Lost River next spring.
Will it be Lost Caverns or Mystic River Falls? Both have been trademarked as a water ride name. Have fun speculating. ![]() Personally, I am hoping this is alluding to them keeping the indoor/dark ride segment from the Lost River finale in the new ride. What would be sweet is if they include a slide/elevator lift (ala Infinity Falls) built into a faux mountain structure and you slide into a cave for the finale. Re: Silver Dollar City (SDC) Discussion ThreadOoh, I like both those names a lot, as well as the the Marvel Cave theme. I know you know this, sdcfan88, but for the community at large here, the Mystic River Passage is a section of Marvel Cave that has never been fully explored. It goes back a ways and eventually becomes too small for a person to fit. So we don't know what's back there....
Now doesn't that sound like a cool idea for a ride? Re: Silver Dollar City (SDC) Discussion ThreadYeah it's pretty cool they are doing a ride directly themed and dedicated to the cave. Without the cave we wouldn't have SDC.
