If anyone was planning on coming to Branson, stay away! It's unbelievably cold and snowed in!

Indeed, SDC has been closed the past two days for snow and ice.

I imagine this isn't the first or last time this happens.

^It's actually one of the first times in recent memory, according to some of the employees I've talked to. It usually doesn't snow/ice this bad in until January or at least late December in this part of the country, and the park used to be more stubborn about staying open. Of course, it wasn't long ago that rides weren't even the main draw for the park, so it was easier to just keep the shops and covered attractions open. Also, this particular storm brought in so much pure ice.

I bet. I've been watching this storm as it moves across the country. At least it should be over soon enough, and the park can reopen once again.

I visited over Thanksgiving and found out the park has other parking areas down the road. My family parked in "The Bank". How often does the park have to open up those lots?
Top 10: 1. The Voyage 2. Outlaw Run 3. Millennium Force 4. SkyRush 5. Maverick
6. El Toro 7. Fahrenheit 8. Storm Runner 9. Thunderbird 10. Powder Keg

Why do I still have a donkey title???

More often than you'd think, especially on weekends, and Thanksgiving is a hugely popular time. They have a few lots scattered throughout the Indian Point peninsula. It's really not a big deal to park there; they have plenty of people directing traffic, and unless you pay for valet parking, you're going to be taking the tram or bus in. Even the preferred parking lot is about a quarter mile from the entrance and still has a tram stop. Not a whole lot of flat ground to put a parking lot, so that's how it's always been.

The Southern Stone County Fire Protection District is reporting that they just responded to a fire in Silver Dollar City at Outlaw Run. They've updated to say that only the 'entrance' was involved and not the ride itself. No idea of what the extent of the damage is yet.

It's a pity, they really did a good job with this station. Here's hoping they get it restored as good as new for next season.

Don't put that donkey on the floor!
