  1. You didn't "stake" it down. If you were on a hard surface you were just required to have enough heavy objects to keep the tent from blowing away. However, they didn't really enforce it and as far as I know, no one had issues. In fact since our tent's weren't staked down [those of us on concrete] the scareactures were able to shake our tent.
  2. My girlfriend and I camped out and had a blast. The 2am wake up call was hilarious. They shook our tent and yelled, "we're coming in to get you!" Cedar Point did an amazing job and really did there best to make this a fun event. Even received a free blanket! I hope that despite the complaining by a few that the majority of us really enjoyed this FREE event.
  3. Between Plain Dealer (paper and web news) and sports radio here (Cleveland), there is a general feeling he is coming back. I am fully aware I am drinking the Kool-Aid. As a Cleveland sports fan I am immune to the "poisoned Kool-Aid of sports disappointment." Sounds silly to outsider but many Cleveland sports fans have little to look forward to. So any good news That said. I think it is totally hilarious that they will do this. Despite it's national/international attention, Cedar Point is still a regional amusement park. The skeletons on the Millennium Force bridge/cover/thing do sign out, O-H-I-O during Halloweekends. Edit: I can't spell. Fixed that.
  4. Per Cedar Point's Tweet. They are offering to rename an unamed coaster, "King James" if he returns to the Cavs. According to the Plain Dealer, this is a serious offer. Mean Streak becomes King James? Edit: For those that aren't in the US or could care less about sports, this is in reference to the NBA player LeBron James coming back to Cleveland.
  5. Aren't Cedar Point and Kings Island constructing buildings that are expected to be haunt mazes? Sounds like a great name for a new haunt.
  6. Ouimet is the CEO of Cedar Fair and not the GM of Cedar Point. For me good leadership allows GOOD people to thrive on their own. They give these same good people the ability to make good or bad decisions based on their greater experience and knowledge of their title or area of expertise (run on sentence). A good leader isn't expected to know detailed knowledge of everything. A leader who does know or at least acts like they know everything is a micro-manager. Micro-Managing may work in specific applications but if you have knowledgeable and capable people you just stifle productivity with micro-management. ---- Change of topic on the post: My girlfriend and I went to Cedar Point (my home park) yesterday (July 1st) with my co-worker and his wife. Neither have been there since Raptor opened up. They had a blast and certainly enjoyed themselves. I more or less let them, "take the wheel" and decide when and where to go. The only thing I did was initially steer them to the back of the park (Frontier area) at the beginning so we can start from that area and work our way forward. Rides weren't always picked at their, "optimal times" resulting in longer than expected lines at times. I know only going at the best times is such an "enthusiast thing to do" but part of me cried when rides where picked at their peak times. I was tempted to suggest coming later but I didn't want to be controlling. My girlfriend and I will be back. They may not come back until next year or 20-years from now. It was their day. How do you guys (and gals) handle double-dates at your home park? Do you steer or give the wheel to your friend(s)? Any general tips? Later this summer I will be repeating a similar experience as my oldest sister will be taking her family to CP during her visit back to Ohio. I admit CP gives me that "gaming" attitude. In the sense that I have to, "game the system" and optimize my visit. That said, I came in yesterday having the right attitude of, "I am just going to have fun."
  7. I suffered a stroke a few months ago (complications from surgery) and the doctors (plural) gave me the OK to ride coasters. One doctor said, "Have fun on Millennium Force." I have no problems so far. Personally I would take the advice of your husband's doctor over anyone here.
  8. My bad, I "miss-remembered." I mainly remember not having that seat sliding fun. Now the Racer has dividers and belts right? I'm not remembering wrong on that one right?
  9. Since I don't post on here, I might as well point out a few relevant things about myself. I just got into coasters last-year; so I haven't been to a lot of parks. But I do want to remedy that in the coming years. I am probably one of the few people on this forum that still holds on to the handles/bars. I only raise my hands on coasters that I have ridden several times. I was able to go to Kennywood on June 28th (a Saturday). Here is a quick-ish trip report: The only coaster I didn't get to ride was Exterminator. The weather was starting to turn so we decided to head home for the day. The standout for me was Phantom's Revenge. This is my first Chance Morgan so the only ride I can compare it to is Magnum. I love Magnum so I knew I would like this ride. With each violent hill and snap turn I fell more and more in love with this ride, even more so than Magnum. But shhhh! Don't tell Maggie that! However, despite the violent drops and snaps I never at once actually felt pain. I yelled out, "Ow" but it was more just instinct and fun than anything else. Magnum doesn't hurt me like it does with some people so I can't tell if others will be in pain from this ride. However, I did like the foamy-soft lap-bars on this ride. EDIT: Here is a transcript of me riding Phantom's Revenge: WEE! OW! OW! WEEEEE! OW! WEE-OW! OH MY GOSH! THIS IS-OW-FUN! Thunderbolt was pure no-seat-belt fun. I wish Jack Rabbit and Racer had no dividers and no seat belts. I love being able to slide in my seat and give loved ones some loving gravity squishes. My girlfriend was on the, "Wrong-side" and I was able to squish up against her the entire time. And since she doesn't read these forums: I didn't help matters but trying to shove myself against her. Jack-Wabbit - I mean Rabbit, is the oldest coaster I have been able to ride (so far). Like Thunderbolt. I love how the ride just gets "started" right away. The "surprise" air-time hill toward the end got me laughing pretty hard. I just wish this had the old-school seats; no divider and no belts. Racer - I loved the Racer sign. Although a fun ride, for me the ride didn't really stand out compared to the other rides at the park. I did get a kick out of my girlfriend going, "Hey, Wait a minute! We flipped sides." SkyRocket - What a fun little ride! Wee! Air-time! Noah's Ark and the other dark rides (or fun houses) were some old-school fun. Or at least old-school with a modernish update (attacking food from a comic-strip cat for example). My home park is Cedar Point so I will take advantage of any other park's dark-rides. If you come here and skip over the dark-rides, you're doing yourself a major disfavor. Overall, I liked the park. The old-school rides gave me an experience I may not always get to take advantage of. I mean I even rode Auto Race. Although the park was NOT trashy I felt that the park needed a little more TLC. From a fresh coat of paint to weeding. I also felt that the drink options were limited. One flavor of Gatorade anyone? I hope the later doesn't sound nit-picky, but when you're hot and sweaty you want something that quenches your thirst. Those two negatives don't take enough away from this park - this is a must-visit park. And even though I despise their NFL team (seriously Manziel - you better be the real deal) I do think Pittsburgh has a great home park.
  10. First time posting here [i'm the rare bird who doesn't post on forums. I'm a social person in meat space but not so much online.] I wanted to say, events like this one is exactly why I lurke the forums and became a member. This will be the first TPR hosted event (if anyone is doing the Cedar Point campout I'll be there) and I can't wait to take part and meet new people. This will also be my first visit to Kings Island (didn't get interested in coasters and parks until last year). What a great way to visit a park for the first time!
