  1. Ugh, I kinda figured it would be obnoxious. Thanks much for the reply Bill, much appreciated.
  2. I’ve struggled to find answers on this one, so apologies if this has been discussed ad nauseam… I’m looking to visit Cedar Point with some family come late September. Their hours are Thurs 6-midnight, and Fri-Sunday 11am-midnight. Given the weekend only model, how are lines and ride selections during this season? We’re mostly there for coasters, etc. Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Ideologies? Theologies? Mythologies? Conspiracy Theories?
  3. Keep in mind the age of these rides, their environment, frequency of use, the load forces on parts, etc... It's obviously not a rollercoaster, but I run a canning line at a brewery. You'd be amazed what happens to a simple sealed bolt after a few hundred thousand actuations. Stress fracturing can often not show up until just before the part fails, rust can do some weird things internally, just friction can so some absolutely insane things. (for example, I go through 3 pairs of stainless bolts holding our keg machine ramp, these wear completely through just from vibration of 12k kegs a year) Manufacturing defect? Naw, the level most of these firms operate at isn't that. Park neglect? At best - maybe. Could be a monstrous number of factors as many of these rides have sat still for longer than usual then suddenly put back into operation by teams that may be less experienced than usual. Unless they're completely stripping and rebuilding every single one of those trains every off season, it's really hard to catch some long term wears.
  4. I could sit and hope all dang day that something is coming out our way. Could they be teasing? Sure. Could it be trolling? Absolutely. Until we see some permits filed, track showing up, or an RMC rep sneaking around, I'd say it's probably too early to tell. #stillwaitingforourinvert
  5. That layout looks like a great mid sized ride. Relatively simple enough to construct without too much twisty madness to navigate but plenty of fun packed into each leg. Are you having a firm do the actual design/signoff of the ride or is that being done in-house as well? Also I totally volunteer as tribute to drive from Duluth to come swing a hammer for a week.
  6. As much as I don't enjoy spinning rides and wish that would be a new RMC raptor station - the Endeavor would be a really great fit for that spot, that side of the park has long since been a dead spot. With the front of the park seeing new additions, I think the Endeavor with a fun lighting package is pretty reasonable as well. *sighs and looks at photos of B&M inverts*
  7. I think the Minnesota State Fair has one? Don't quote me on that though - the construction appears quite similar, but I can't seem to find any documentation on its origin.
  8. If ground work had started to take place I'd say the water park expansion would be a great 2020 expansion, but given the lack of ground-work needed to redo that entire area... I doubt they'd just do that during the winter? Maybe they announce + begin work next spring when the water level drops?
  9. So very true, but also keep in mind the weather up here is different than many of these parks, they have a different ethos as well (Thinking Knoebels and Kentucky Kingdom). They also have the freedom of being independently run as well, perhaps they gained an investor and such too? Valleyfair has both the privilege and burden of being a part of a larger chain: they have larger corporate backing... but they also have shareholders to appease as well. Not that smaller parks don't have shareholders, but larger parks have to keep things moving for all the parks, and lots of profit to make to keep people happy. It's definitely worth noting that they have mentioned investment here in MN soon, but working down the chain of parks definitely makes sense: Cedar Point is indeed their flagship park and something they need to keep competitive with Six Flags' lead parks. Also, a note about growth: families make up a huge chunk of visitors, not seasoned enthusiasts. I personally think it's great that they're reinvesting into that demographic with the new(ish) kids area, the Route 76 area as well are all laying down a good foundation for a well rounded park. Even more so, a development year with just utility upgrades and such also shows good management: they care enough about the quality and durability of the park to keep it up to date. It's smart investment to be sure. All that doesn't surpass my desire to have new hotness in the park, but especially for a temperamental climate as MN, it's good to see we have a park that doing well even despite the size.
  10. Noted, seems like an incredible park. It's either that or Holiday World.... so... I'm rather torn.
  11. Hey all, Visiting St Louis from the 3rd-8th for an industry conference and will no doubt visit the City Museum and perhaps the Arch. My question: is it worth the drive to Branson for a Monday at SDC? What are crowds like this time of year? It'd probably be a daylong/half day visit... Thanks
  12. Does anyone have the ad3 LED's used in MGL's water fountains? Or perhaps, anything else related to creating good choreographed fountains. Anything would be great. Thanks! mnreggie
