  1. Seems pretty solid. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Sky Roller or flat ride package in 2017 along with a midway revamp somewhere. A Sky Roller and a modern refreshment of the Frontier area around Maverick and Mean Streak. Still interested in seeing where those Vintage European flat rides will come into play and what parks and where they will go. I would assume that a Vintage flat ride(s) will go along with a Aesthetic midway revamp. RMC Mean Streak is a no go and I just don't see it happening.
  2. Can't wait to see this thing in person. Absolutely incredible addition to Cedar Point. I see nothing to complain about CP were are very lucky to get what we are getting. In just 3 years time we got a world class record breaking B&M wing coaster and now a world class record breaking Dive coaster. Plus a floorless coaster, whats not to like. The color is probably going to look much different in the real world and in sunlight and with the entrance being over by Blue Streak no one is going to confuse this for Rougaroo with is actually pretty far from this one.
  3. Except its not been 6-12yrs. Its 5yrs since KD got a $25 giga, Carowinds massively successful B&M giga installed THIS year $30 mill?, Banshee at Kings Island opened last year and is a raved about addition 18-20 million? , 3 years ago another massive B&M giga opened at Canadas wonderland 25-30million? . So an estimated what $75+ Million in coasters at former Paramount parks. CP is a destination park with multiple places to stay overnight and massive income from hotels as well as the huge income of fastlane and other premium type perks at the park. Cedar Fair is a business first and foremost not Rollercoaster Tycoon. And remember CP did got 6-7 yrs without a coaster from Maverick to Gatekeeper so its really only received 2 coasters in the last 8yrs or 9yrs. Kings Dominion did get rid of a coaster but so did CP as well, Wildcat and Disaster Transport plus other family rides. Cedar Fair is looking long term.
  4. 5-7 Years is reasonable. 7 Yrs ago Dominator was installed and 5yrs ago Intimidator 305 was installed (massive 25 million dollar ride) Windseeker 2 yrs later, 2013 the Chains largest kids area, general park improvements in 2014 and 2015 a big investment in the water park. Now next year a nice flat ride and who know what else in terms of more general park improvements. 2017 will more than likely see a new coaster installed which will fall into your reasonable 5-7yr coaster plan. Not 10+ Everyone knows CP is the flagship of the chain and nothing is going to change that. With the huge income of the hotels and other on site properties as well as fastlane income its no surprise they are getting another coaster.
  5. Gonna be great. Refurbed classic rides with modern led lighting spread through out the parks would be fantastic. Or a carnival style area similar to what Knotts did on their "boardwalk area"
  6. I highly doubt he is there to convince another park to add something they don't have. My guess as to why he is there is to ride the coasters to get an idea of what they want to add for the next installment at SDC. Maybe they have and idea of a B&M wing coaster. Busch Gardens GM/team rode Maverick at CP and gave them an idea for Cheetah. I say for Mean Streak just topper track it and let it smoothly fly though the course. Layout isn't that bad if it can be taken at full speed on some smooth track and new trains. I say no to a new wood coaster cause its will end up being rough 5-6 yrs from now.
  7. Exactly. Parks are better when they have all quality coasters. SFMM and CP are great because they have so many, but then parks like SDC and Dollywood have 5 or 6, that are a awesome. I would say CP has a pretty good balance between quality and quantity. Raptor, Gatekeeper, Millie, Magnum, Maverick are quality coasters and that is 5 right there. Add Wicked Twister and TTD and that is a great coaster collection. Most have good capacity not like SFMM throwing up a quick low capacity coaster for some arbitrary title of most coasters. Its tough though being CP and some of these other mega coaster parks. Something like Gatekeeper or Raptor would be the main attraction at some parks like Dollywood but at CP its just another coaster among many.
  8. 121 degree drop! At what point does these ultra steep drops just become and inversion? I would think 121 would be about the limit, from just my little experience with 95 and 97 drops they might start getting a little painful slamming into the shoulder harness going so much steeper?
  9. The description on Time Warner listing was "Worlds Fastest Coasters" I kind of thought I would see at least alittle about the top five fastest coasters in the world.
  10. I think mostly because the title of the show was somewhat IMO misleading. It was about Speed coasters right? Tatsu while a great ride only does 62mph far from being considered speed. The Ferrari coaster, Top Thrill, Kingda Ka, Ispeed, I305, MF, Xcelerator would have been much better options to pair together. It just seemed random choices that had little to do with speed. The coasters themselves are fine, IMO they don't belong together in the same rankings I guess you could say. To me it would be like Car and Driver doing an article about fast cars and having a Corvette ZR1, Ford F250 Super Duty Pickup, Toyota Camry and a Honda Pilot SUV, all in a "shootout".
  11. I doubt CS will be going anywhere for quite awhile. Theres a difference between CS and the other Arrow loopers. CS is fairly slow and very basic layout which probably isn't very stressful on track/train, compared to something like Viper at MM or Vortex at Kings Island. Same goes for Iron Dragon and Flight Deck/Big Bad Wolf, look at the speed difference between them. Iron Dragon is older but will probably outlast just about all the suspended coasters and FD will probably be used to refurb Iron Dragon when the time comes.
  12. I think after seeing Gatekeeper and what CP did with the front entrance, a B&M Invert in place of Invertigo, going across the front entrance would be pretty cool. Inverts IMO are better if they are much more compact with tighter quick transitions than large sized inversions. Alpengist IMO just doesn't have the same intensity as some of the smaller compact Inverts. But what ever KI gets I just hope its a capacity monster and they begin to take out some of the low capacity rides like Invertigo and a couple others and replace them with real world class rides.
  13. Just checked out the blog and thought I'd finally sign up, instead of just lurking. Theres nothing there to get bent out of shape about. I'm a huge Cedar Point fan and go about 20 times a year or so. Just because CP wasn't included in the list means nothing really, its just a subjective opinion. Its his opinion, it doesn't change the fact that Maverick is my all time favorite ride and Kumba is meh. I like I305 as well and it deserves to be on the list for sure cause its kick a$$, but I still like Maverick more and I would put I305 around 6-7 on my all time favorites. It all just boils down to personal taste. Who care if someone thinks B&M hypes are not "cool" does it really matter? It was an entertaining piece and nothing more.
