  1. Looking forward to the Big Bad West Coast Bash email of 2018! (No rush, of course) PS. Are memes allowed on the forums if they are relative to the subject? (Sorry ahead of time if this is the wrong place to ask)
  2. So Rob... We talkin' a nice hot Venti Skinny Cinnamon Dolce Latte this year?... Or a hot PSL?... Just remember that your order will be multiplied by 15 (or more) upon completion, courtesy of those who actually read your entire Big Bad West Coast Bash Email every year.
  3. I am SOOO unbelievably excited for this right now!!! I’m sure there’s a very reasonable reason why there wasn’t a WCB in 2017 that I haven’t read about yet, but I was super worried that it was going away for some reason. So glad to hear it’s back! Thank you SO much TPR staff for making this a possibility!!! <3
  4. You know, initially, my old-Magic-Mountain-trained mind was immediately disappointed in this announcement, and was hoping instead for another record breaking, new-style roller coaster, like the RMC TRex or something. ...BUT, I had to catch myself and ask, "Every time I go to Magic Mountain, in the moment, what do I wish they could add or change?" Do I wish I had yet another roller coaster I could ride, as if I was short on those at this park? No. I ask things like, "God, I wish I could have some A/C right now!", or, "I wish there were food options in this area where I didn't have to stand or sit down with zero shade.", or, "Wow, can I really just walk up to this condemned and dilapidated Monorail station and actually touch it? Shouldn't there be a wall or something?". So, now when I look at this announcement, I think, wow, hats off to Six Flags for starting a new trend (starting with JL:BFM) that, while potentially unpopular, now adds variety to the park, spruces up old areas, and, in the long run, will make guests subconsciously happy during their stay. Now, on to some speculation! I've taken the liberty to spend 5 minutes in Paint to quickly draw up a hypothesis of the location of this ride. Key: Green - CraZanity Ride Location Yellow - Old Flat Ride turned into a Break Area (I forget it's name. Please forgive my enthusiast sins! ) Red - Old Monorail Station White - Old Monorail Track Brown - (Steep?) Hillside (definitely an obstacle for this flat ride) I was also curious why they didn't use this location between Riddler's and Tidal. Maybe just not enough space? It also would fail to be a weenie (visual landmark) to mark the "new" boardwalk area I guess. Let me know your thoughts, and sorry for the long post! (Haven't posted in a while)
  5. Sorry for butting into this conversation, but I'm probably headed to DL and DCA next Thursday and I have a question about World of Color really quick. With "Season of Light" ending on the 8th, and insider rumors strongly suggesting that the old WoC show will not be returning, does anyone know if WoC will be running after the 8th with a new show or not? Has anyone seen any midnight testings of a new show? My Google searches are coming up dry...
  6. At Disneyland Resort today representing* TPR!!! Give me a shoutout if you're here too and want to meet up and say hi; I have lots of pins to trade! Trip report of both parks to follow too! Lots of little changes along with Halloween theming have made the park look completely different (sort-of). *Not officially representing. Please don't sue me Robb.
  7. Assuming 10% of a guesstimated 100 people attending this event TRULY read the entire email, I estimate Robb will have a minimum of 10 hot PSL's by 8am... BUT I CALL DIBBS ON BEING THE FIRST!!! ps. Robb-senpai, after reading your email about your number, please forgive me for texting you on National Roller Coaster Day. I just wanted to share the joy and didn't know how off-limits the number was.
  8. All I know, is that I want... No... I WILL win a coaster wheel this year at WCB during TPR's famous scavenger hunt(?) at KBF!!! Or whatever it's called... I'm such a WCB newb; only been one year in 2012. Can someone remind me what it's called? Second thought, I don't deserve one if I cant remember the name of the game... I just really want one to put on my trophy shelf...
  9. Aww man... Wish I was there that day. And I don't know... I've gone 4 times this summer, including today, and every time there was an excessive amount of bees trying to get at all the liquids people put on the left side. Maybe because it's hot?... Idk. Regardless, I'm allergic to bees, but that doesn't stop me from riding, in my opinion, one of the best coasters in the world multiple times.
  10. Mini trip report!!! Can confirm it's hot as balls. Can confirm X2 is closed today. Time to put on our tin foil hats for X3! Twisted Colossus running REAL well, but station is (still) infested with bees, making load times long and racing rare because people are freaking out about bees. Scream however, not too hot... (Even with 102 degrees of Farenheit helping it out) 2 employees called out my TPR shirt. Overall score of the day: 10 out of 10, would burn alive again.
  11. At Disneyland today! Hoping to document any post "D-Day" changes to the park so far (if any). This is my first post in a while after a lot of lurking, so I hope I'm doing alright so far. Trip report to follow! ("D-Day": January 10th, the day Disneyland closed 10-25% of their attractions temporarily or permanently for at least a year to make way for Star Wars land) Front entrance still sporting it's 60th anniversary sign.
  12. That SFX Coaster looks like a maintenance nightmare... I'm just hope buyers are not scared away by this, because if the company really puts a lot of thought into it and works out all the discrepancies, their rides could make for some really incredible attractions. I can't wait to see one built with all 4 elements, but I have major sympathy for the guy that has to wake up in the morning to make sure that complicated thing is working top notch. We don't want another Universal Studios Mummy Ride scenario where they cut out entire effects due to high maintenance.
  13. Aww man this thread is neat! I really like how it actually sparks some interest in the science behind some myths of rides; good or bad. EDIT: Shoot, I just realized you specifically wanted myths surrounding things rides physically do to you, not the rides themselves... I'm sorry. Well, here's a list of myths regardless... Sorry for the confusion. I have a couple of myths that can be tested scientifically as well: - On rainy days, will a coaster actually make it through the run faster than on a non-rainy day? (This is brought about by the assumption that either water provides better lubricant between the wheels and the track, or that MCBR's slow the car less efficiently due to water being on the breaks) - Having "fluffy" riders (to be politically correct) on one side of an Intamin ZacSpin car, and light riders on the other side will actually make it spin more times throughout the ride. - Reading the thread, I found someone bring up the topic of head-choppers. My question is, is there any ride that actually has the potential to chop off your head (if you were tall enough, within reason), or your hands for that matter. A study that would prove that there are actually rides out there that will hit you if putting your hands up would be pretty cool. Because, for example, I swear you can touch the second lift hill of Gold Rusher at SFMM if you wanted. Just never been brave enough to actually do it from fear of the damage (whatever it would be) to my arm. - (Not a myth because I've seen it done, but would be cool for TV) The whole penny trick with any Intamin Reverse Freefall Coaster that we all know and love... A ride op said it wouldn't work so there's still suspicion around it apparently. - (Honestly can't remember if this one is true or not) The Sky Tower at SFMM was shut down for years during a certain time after an earthquake in the area, "due to it being slightly tilted" on its axis with the ground. - Now for a physics related one... On all coasters, if the link holding the two halves of a train were to magically come apart in the middle of the ride, would the whole train make it back to the station since all cars have the same momentum and follow the same track? That's all I got, hope it helps out! Let us know if the show actually makes it to TV!
