  1. I asked a friend who used to work on Colossus about this and she said that in cold conditions Colossus can only run 1 train as waiting on the brake run can damage the wheels. As for Stealth, after the abosolute mess it was in at the start of the season it is running 2 trains nearly all the time now.
  2. Has to be Rita. The adverts were claiming it would be better than all the other coasters at Alton Towers and all I got were some bruises. Decent launch though, even if it is overshadowed by Stealth.
  3. Oh the irony, using a vision of death to make an area feel alive. What about Saw Alive then? Anyway, you know what I mean
  4. I really hope there are some permanant actors for the wraiths and not just once a year and on opening like SAW. Even just one would make the whole area feel more alive.
  5. I thought Dejavu was looking pretty shiny.. But I am glad that I was wrong and will try and get there if we travel to the area. Lightning never strikes twice in the same place (hopefully)! Colossus however at Thorpe Park looks a mess and no paintjob is in sight. A lot of paint was gone from the tracks after 3-4 years. I just hope that SFMM really do get some more staff and motivate some of the existing staff (Tatsu attendant, grrrr).
  6. Definately Thorpe Park next season, hopefully along with Alton Towers and Disneyland Paris.
  7. Well both theme parks seem to try and build rides in extremely small spaces (Goliath and Colossus for example) and seem to let rides rot when the next one is built (I have heard the Riddler's station used to have strobes and lighting which has gone over time. In comparison, a roller coaster called Nemesis Inferno used to have red lighting in the station and in a tunnel with very thick misting and steam. Other water effects are also long gone. Some of them were fixed for the Halloween event only because a member of staff said he would do it for free in his own time) and the atmosphere can be very tense at points when you are a group of 2 or by yourself. Also, we saw the sign for no refunds but we could of at least got our flashpass gold for another day or been given tickets that are one use but don't have a time you have to use them by. A 3 month expiry date is just stupid for abroad visitors who probably won't come back for at least a year.
  8. Well it is sort of hard to judge on your first ever visit and if I didn't have it then I would have been queuing for 2 hours for tatsu and about an hour for Colossus. I will try to go back but to me the park seems like a bigger version of Thorpe Park - it's fun with friends because you are making jokes and don't really take much notice of the scenery but you try to avoid most other people. Also, are the roller coaster stations normally just a jumble of people with no staff member directing anyone?
  9. I know I got a bad day, my luck with theme parks is very low (going to Legoland Windsor on the first day ever it was closed due to weather to name one experience) but I am annoyed with the way the park handled it. They could of ran both tracks on Colossus and Superman which were both open and stuggling to handle the queues they were getting as a result of the other ride's closures. I may try again if my parents want to go back to the LA area but we normally only go abroad for long trips once a year and I found queuing for the rides my sister wouldn't do somewhat intimidating and the looks I got with the flashpass were pretty nasty. It's a pity because nearly all of the rides I got on I found amazing.
  10. I finally got around to registering and writing this but I am extremely annoyed at the way Six Flags handled the crowds on the 22nd of December '09. I was on a trip from England to LA and my highlight of the trip was going to be Six Flags MM. Instead when we arrived there had been some booking mix up which took 30 minutes to sort out. While they were issuing our tickets they said absolutely nothing about over half of the rides being closed due to high winds. I knew Batman and Dejavu would be closed for maintenence but what about those other rides that the management would of known about by that time which couldn't open; Scream, X2, Riddler's, Goliath to name a few. What annoyed me more was that the other rides had to be run with only one train when Terminator was running with 2 (infact Terminator was the only ride that was running properly). The queue for Tatsu was 2 hours due to only one train running and only one staff member checking restraints who hardly sprang to action. Why couldn't staff who were supposed to work on other rides which were closed go and help on the open ones. What's more there was no staff member on any of the rides directing the queue at the station so these lines of about 20 people for each row formed on Viper (painful...). The final straw was that we kindly explained our complaint to the guest services and we wanted some kind of refund or tickets with the flash pass gold which we had booked for another day. They declined and even we had visited from England they would only give us normal tickets for another day. We didn't bother using them. I don't think I will be coming back soon (even if I could get a flight).
