  1. not sure if this is available outside the UK but the BBC went to Ferrari world and have done a small feature on the coaster http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/fast_track/9185704.stm
  2. first off, just to clarify, i'm not actually in a band, I work in concert lighting so i'll be out on tour with The Steve Miller Band. We play the lotto arena, it's listed as antwerp on my schedule, on the 10th. Sadly I don't get to decide where we get to spend our days off, the production will do that so it's more likely we'll end up in paris but having never been to antwerp before, i thought i'd ask around to see what there was. thanks for replying guys, as soon as I know where we'll be getting time off i'll drop you both an email. thanks Pete
  3. wondering if anyone can help me out, i'm out on tour the beginning of october and a date has dropped out meaning that we get three days off either in antwerp or paris. the paris bit i'm good with, antwerp not so much! the dates off would be 11-12-13 october which is a monday tuesday and wednesday. we play antwerp the 10th and then paris on the 14th. wondering if there are any parks that are a relatively easy travel distance (public transport only) from the city and if any will still be open that time of year. thanks in advance for any help. Pete
  4. Some photos from a trip to the Legoland Discovery Centre at the Trafford Centre in Manchester. The shooting darkride was lots of fun, a combination of targets on the walls/in the theming and several projection screens, really well done for kids as well as adults, the ride car pauses initially a reasonable distance from the screens and then moves in closer so everyone can get their shots in. Really great miniland too, lots of local features, and a few interactive bits too, plus being indoors the first part of miniland changes from night to day and back again, with the buildings lighting up at night. Some of the pictures are a bit poor on quality, sorry about that, the whole place is indoors with little or no natural light so getting them to turn out ok was a struggle! Anyway, enough rambling from me, enjoy the photos! 5. brilliant photos and memorabilia, thank you for sharing, can't wait to see more
  6. Sorry this is a bit late and it's my first attempt at a photo TR but please enjoy: Whilst everyone else was either enjoying the new coaster at Alton Towers or soaking up the sun at the west coast bash, I was at Jodrell Bank in cheshire uk looking at a rather large piece of engineering. For those of you that don't know Jodrell Bank is the home of a large radio telescope, built in the 1950's to monitor radio waves in outer space, it picked up the sputnik satellite and participated in the moon landings. It's still operational today and we saw it scanning the skies when we were there. Anyways hope you enjoy the pictures Pete it's big E.T won't be phoning home it really does tower over you the pivots were taken from WWII battleships, still going strong today. Grit not trash! The telescope is run by the University of Manchester, the blue is their corporate colour. upskirt shot. this supporting structure is not original and was added during a refurb in the 70/80's through the trees, the site is now home to another couple of (smaller) radio telescopes.
  7. possibly up for thorpe on the saturday, work depending.
  8. the hyde park event look like they really pulled out the stops this year, never had more than one coaster previously I don't think. might actually go into the centre of the city I live in for once to visit the thing before it shuts. the o2 event is new this year so i can't really comment on that.
  9. i second this and again many thanks for this thread Robb & Elissa and everyone else contributing photos, keeping the offseason alive
  10. is this just purely on DVD or will there be an ipod version?
  11. i would think it more likely that the pit at the bottom is for all the machinery associated with making the track drop. ie train drops from 1 down down to 2, level three is machinery.
  12. awesome photos, thanks for posting. every trip report I see makes me more excited for next years trips
  13. phew, was concerned i'd be the only one not combining mid america and intimidaTour, but that seems to not be the case, excellent!
