  1. That is also why you don't see Six Flags buying more of this exact type of ride.... Its just a mashup of technology from Zamperla, Reverchon, and ride control by Six Flags. And that experiment didn't turn out so well.
  2. The reason for this is the weight limit on each car itself. The exact limit is stamped in the Ride Control area, I forget the exact amount off the top of my head, but basically the car cannot handle 4 average sized adults. Therefore the maximum capacity was made 3 adults and 1 child. Basically its because of poor design from Zamperla and Reverchon. Loading anything more than that opens the park up to lawsuits for knowingly overloading a ride.
  3. If you have loose articles you have 2 options. A) Either leave them with a non-rider who will wait outside the line. Or B) Use the lockers. You cannot bring loose articles into the line with you. Word on the street is that the front of the lines for these rides will now be staffed.
  4. The lockers will be pay. The rates are being debated between $1-2 for around 4 hours. They will lock.
  5. The appropriate response for the team members in that situation would warrant an E-Stop of the ride for guests entering a restricted area. At SFGAm's B:TR there is a grouper at the Flash Pass merge point that can see the car, is the car area at SFMM not visible by any employee? And if not they should have cameras overlooking the ride area.
  6. New name tags are on their way to all parks. Design hasn't been finalized but look for First name plus department on the new name tags.
  7. Not to mention that Amusement Park employees are not entitled to overtime for working more than 40 hours per week. (At CP the most I worked in one week was 76 hours. Average of about 50 per week.)
  8. Well at the employee cafe there is. I don't even know what to call it besides Grade B- ketchup. If they want happier employees if they at least get us decent ketchup thats a start!
  9. Just so you know I originally wrote this for a SFGAm based website, so that is why there is a bit more focus on SFGAm but there is a lot of good information here. Replay of the webcast is available at : Six Flags Investors Ok here is a breakdown of the lots and lots of new news that was announced today. First, SF has entered into an agreement with HIT entertainment which has rights to the popular brand "Thomas And Friends". For 2007 3 parks will get a Thomas and Friends play area which will feature Thomas based rides and meet and greets with Sir Toppam Hat etc. 3 more will be added in 2008 for a total of 6 parks with a Thomas area. Note : This is a completely new area and does not have anything to do with a park's railroad, if it has one. Secondly, there was more talk of the Wiggles and SFGAdv as well as 2 other unnamed parks will get a new Wiggles themed play area with rides based off of the Wiggles characters. Also on their US tour the Wiggles will be promoting Six Flags and may possibly be selling tickets for Six Flags at the concerts. Third, to help with the tween demographic (9-12) (It does say on the press release 12-24 but in the conference call Shaprio refered to the tween demographic with Tony Hawk for the 9-12 age bracket.) 2 new Tony Hawk themed rides 1 at SFOT the other to a unnamed park. More merchandise will be available to buy from his clothing line etc. More rides besides the 2 announced are expected in upcoming years. Fourth, mtvU, MTV's University channel will be having a summer concert series at Six Flags around the country. This will be in addition to the Thursday concert series happening at all Six Flags. Fifth, Cold Stone Creamery will be installed in at least 6 parks with SFNE being the only park installed with an actual cold stone on a trial basis. The other will use another way to make their ice cream. Also in this area Panda Express which currently has 6 locations will be increased to at least 12 locations throughout Six Flags. Sixth, Heniz catchup is now the offical catchup of Six Flags. Also a Corporate Partner (Same level with Home Depot etc.) New deals with peel off labels for discounts. Seventh, Holiday in the park will be expanded in Warm weather markets only. Coming this month to SFFT and SFMW. Eighth, besides expanding Panda Express new offerings featuring Thai and Greek food will be offered in select parks. That is the new information for operations park wide on a breakdown of whats available at individual parks : SFOT- New show in collaboration with Cirque Productions that will occur summer nights at about 9 PM. Also will keep park open til 11 PM (Normally closes at 10 PM) With lighting and theming like that of Holiday in the parks. SFGAdv - Safari will no longer be free, in part with this upgrade there will be more close up encounters with the animals, no price has been announced. Great Escape- New Tornado ride that when it first opens will only be able to be ridden by season pass holders until June 22nd. Ok and now to the main topic at hand... SFGAm... Here is what was said with respect to SFGAm. 1. New show Operation Spygirl. 2. Land that the park owns that is considered "excess" land is either up for sale or is in preliminary talks with hotels for possible use. Will not allow fast food places etc. to be built on this land. 3. More to come later. As to the sale of other parks. Total of 9 are for sale, prefer them to be sold as a group. PARKS WILL BE SOLD AS A CONTINUING OPERATION. I.E. They will not be sold for land! The decision to sell parks etc. will be made by Jan. 1st. Also, NO TICKET PRICE INCREASES. And Magic Mountain is offering free Kid's season pass with their current promotion of Play Pass ( Pay for 1 day get a free season pass.) Also more money will be made available for more staffing as well as better staff training. Shaprio said no matter how many new rides etc. they put in, customers come back based on great employees. Also has tied individual park GM's performance to their bonuses. Ah yes and one more thing I almost forgot, besides adding Superman and the rest of the Justice League, select parks will also have a actual Hall of Justice and also will feature the Legion of Doom characters and similar hideout. Thats about all I can think of right now, it was a long conference call about 2 hours.
  10. On the topic of what remains of Shockwave, one of the largest pieces that remains is the actual ride building itself. It is now enclosed and used for storage in the boneyard complete with head back signs still hanging. I don't think the lift motor was installed on demon yet as it is still sitting inside the station (as storage). The booster tires and air tanks were all kept though the air tanks are now only useful as a angry wasp hive. They didn't take to kindly to me getting some of Shockwave's chain for another park.
  11. As to the question of how other Six Flags parks are here is my take on SFGAm. Before employees can go to work at SFGAm we have to go through metal detector and it is sensitive enough that cell phones will set it off. So if you go through it and have your cell phone your going to be told to put your cell phone back in your car. If an employee is seen with a cell phone, even if they are on break ( even in the employee area) they can have their cell phone confiscated for the day. As at SFGAm cell phones are not allowed to be carried by seasonal employees who have direct guest interaction. If anyone working at SFGAm were spotted with a cell phone as in the pictures posted from SFMM they would most likely be fired. SFGAm has very little tolerance for cell phones as the employees are supposed to be working, not chatting with other people on their phones. I'm not sure if SFMM is using the new training system or is still on a in-house type training. SFGAm last year I believe went to a outside company to help with training and it has helped provide employees with a greater understanding of how to help people. Just because someone has years of experience doing something doesn't make them a good trainer, bring in a company whose job is to train people and you'll see a huge improvement.
  12. A Zamplera Joker is not Jester's Wild Ride, Jester's Wild Ride is a Zamplera Rockin' Tug. The Joker is Trailblazer.
  13. I'm suprised that nobody has bought the engine as they are quite easy to work on. If the governer is removed the trains can go quite fast (30 MPH or more possibly I won't touch the governer.) The only bad thing I have to say with this engine is that when the rails are slippery or wet there is NO TRACTION at all. Even though its funny to watch the wheels spin, it then means I've gotta walk around SFGAm's track and dump kitty litter along the uphill portions....
  14. He knows it because he knows me. Without saying too much about the "serious issue".... Huss found a problem on one Frisbee and thus ordered an inspection of all frisbee's around the country. After close inspection we determined that our frisbee had this fault as well. We are working hard on repairing the part so we might have it ready by Family Fright Fest, but at the same time I wouldn't get your hopes up.
