  1. Superman was properly testing today! I stood there watching them send it round for about 30 minutes at the end of the day today and wow did it give me such a good feeling today. It looked absolutely amazing and was much quieter than I expected it to be.
  2. Was lucky enough to be at Movie World on Thursday and see it being pulled down the hill of the first camel hump and into the enclosed overbank for the first time. While only the front two cars being pulled through looked quite strange, the colours of the train work really well with the red track and blue supports and it looked really good. Superman will no doubt be the best coaster in Australia - and will definately be very popular with the guests. It has the best location in a park that any ride could ever ask for - I find it always good to look around at all the people standing around the fountain looking up at the top hat, pointing and trying to work out how it works since the general public here does not know how such a ride works - I think the concept of not having a lift hill throws people off. I really, really can't wait til December! And out of curiosity, whilst I have heard that the 16th will be the official launch date - when will the general public opening be? the next day? or the traditional Australian opening day of Boxing Day (26th)?
  3. Busch Gardens Tampa Theme - 33%, Rides - 66%, Atmosphere - 66%, Value - 33% Whilst never having been there, I think its an accurate representation of what I like in a theme park.
  4. High School - Class of 2004 University - Class of 2009 ( 5 long years of University it had better be worth it)
  5. Yeah I love the Giant Drop, though I was a bit disappointed that I didn't manage to get a ride on it last night at Screamworld (the park's bimonthly night-time event). I really was looking forward to having a ride on it in the dark and also in rain but the queue was a little too long for my likings.
  6. My suggestion is just to force yourself or even before going to the park, tell someone to force you against your wishes onto the ride, lol. When I was younger I was scared of coasters too, and didn't go on them. My family only visited a themepark once every few years so when I got back home afterwards I would really regret being scared and wished I had actually gone on the rides. So the next time I went (which was probably about 5 or something years ago) I just forced myself to go on a Vekoma SLC (if only there were more reasonable first-time coasters in Australia at the time), and as scary as it was - I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! And here I am today, hanging around roller-coaster related websites, with annual passes to my two closest parks (Dreamworld and Warner Bros Movie World - yay Superman:Escape) and I go on everything and anything (that Australia has to offer that is, I still haven't managed to experience the rides in the States yet). Even still, it was only at the beginning of this year when I got my annual pass to Dreamworld that I only went for the first time onto Wipeout, a Waikiki wave superflip. Previously I had been a little scared of the extended periods upside down and the erratic movements, and nowadays having forced myself onto it, it is among my favourite rides at the park - even moreso because of its good capacity so I can't ride it many times. So my advice is - even if you are still scared, just force yourself to go on it anyway. The scared feeling is natural and will last just as long as the queue and loading does. Once you get on it, you will realise how much you love coasters and you'll then go on everything and anything in the future. Show your fear who is boss and don't let it prevent you from riding the best things in the whole world - rollercoasters!
  7. Even though I am in Australia and we won't have this season broadcasted here probably until the time it wraps up in the States, I am a huge fan of this show and looking forward to its return to our screens - it is by far the best reality television show ever. Though from viewing the official website - the route map which usually is a map of the world, this time is only a map of North America. So I guess I'm presuming that this series won't see the contestants leaving the North American continent which to me is quite disappointing. I guess this is because the producers may have felt that the children wouldn't be able to cope with jetlag as well as the adults would have and also with teams of four, it means the airtravel costs/accommodation/etc that the show would have to pay out for would be doubled. Hopefully this particular way of running the show will only last this season and next time will be back to the traditional two person format travelling around the world - and hopefully have them travelling back to Australia since they haven't been here since season 4 when they came to Brisbane (my home city, lol).
  8. Great to see a picture from inside the building - I was really hoping that Movie World would permit you to take pictures from inside. Do you know if they are going to continue to allow you to do so for us to be able to follow the process of theming etc.? Nevertheless, I really can't wait to ride this at the end of the year. When I was at Movie World on Tuesday I just couldn't help but stand around the front of the park admiring this beautifully photogenic coaster and no doubt once theming is completed it will look even more amazing. The interior theming no doubt will look extremely good too - if I remember correctly this is supposed to be themed to a subway? - so I can just imagine how perfectly the queue would work with a subway station loading area for the coaster. Movie World last Tuesday was the busiest I have ever seen it (I didn't even bother going on most of the rides because the queues were so long) so no doubt this is what can be expected after Superman opens but no doubt the ride will be worth the wait.
  9. Nice pictures and no doubt you and the family had a great day at the parks. I'll have to make a trip to both parks sometime this week while I'm on holidays and try out Shrek 4D for myself despite my initial complaints. I'm actually happy with the colours for the Superman trains so long as they decorate it a little more - eg. a blue strip along the side and the Superman logo on the front. I think a yellow train on red track with blue supports will look really great. Can't wait for Superman to make its escape in December!
  10. In case the Geocities site doesn't work, here is the Cedar Point file. Screenshot - http://img173.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img173&image=cedarpoint0408hc.jpg. Cedar_Point_by_matty_o_911_unfinished.zip
  11. Hi guys, I've been around many of the Australian theme park sites for a while but have only recently discovered this great site. So I thought I would start out by posting a few of the parks I have built in RCT2 and RCT3. Firstly I have Warner Bros Movie World Australia which I built quite a while ago in RCT2 before I became a regular visitor to the park, but this great Australian park will no doubt be the home to one of the greatest rocket coasters in the world - Superman: Escape - come the end of the year. Also to note that the interior of the great Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster in my recreation is rather inaccurate (but bear in mind that when I built this park I had only been on it twice and couldn't remember the layout at the time). This park uses Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 and the Wacky Worlds expansion and custom scenery so hopefully it might work. I haven't installed RCT2 on my computer yet so I'll eventually get around to posting a screenshot for those without the game. Secondly, a completed Dreamworld in RCT3 - also an Australian park. This park - for those who don't know - contains a reverse freefall similar to the one at SFMM with the Giant Drop (tallest verticle drop ride) on its side (though of course this is impossible in RCT3 so it looks strange with two towers unfortunately). I warn that I put too much scenery in this park and also a lot (for some unknown reason) of trees around the edges so this park lags quite alot and will require graphics to be turned down for it to run smoothly. Generally though I was quite happy with this park. Thirdly, I began working on a recreation of Cedar Point (a park I have never been to, but based on photos collected from around the net), but unfortunately I never managed to finish it. This file though includes the front part of the park including Raptor, Blue Streak, Wicked Twister and a few others that I managed to get built. A final screenshot can be found here - http://img173.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img173&image=cedarpoint0408hc.jpg. These files are able to be accesed from a Geocities site I created to host them - http://www.geocities.com/matty_o_rct/ but this will very quickly run out of bandwidth so I will try and find the files to post directly here. Hope you like what I have done and also give you non-Australians a chance to see what our two best parks (sort of) look like. Dreamworld_by_matty_o_911.zip Unzip into the 'Start New Scenario' folder of RCT3 I think. (Doesn't require Soaked).
