  1. ^^I don't see what's the difference with one or two. If one chain breaks on let's say Raptor, the ride is down than. Cables for rides just need to be replaced so often especially with a taller ride compared to chain lifts. I don't think having two chain lifts right after each is that complex of a system. It's not like LIMs or LSMs.
  2. They are gimmicky in that they have done Dive Machine, Flying Coaster, Stand-Up, and Floorless. Why make it over 240? Superman Ride of Steel to a lot of people is the best steel coaster, and it's drop at SFNE is only at 221. Yes, it's Intamin, but look at the height. Top Thrill Dragster, and Kingda Ka only have had problems. Millenium Force has had cable snaps. Taller doesn't always mean better, but it just means it's a taller ride. Someone was saying something about having lifthill chains being so heavy for a 300 footer, and that's why they used cable. How about having 2 lifthills chains? One that is 150 ft plus extra, and another one that is 150 ft. plus extra You put one at the start, and one in the middle. Of course, you have to have them at the same speed.
  3. I was at SFOG last Monday and they were dispatching trains on Goliath around every 2 minutes or so. So they were not that bad. Now Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom on the other hand...6 minutes per dispatch on Chang with one train running. However, even with the times being slower then Great America does not mean I did not enjoy both places. Yes there were negatives, but there were also many more positives. That's actually pretty bad for that Goliath ride. That ride has no seatbelts, and it's just like Raging Bull with a clamshell. It takes about a minute for Batman at Great America with seatbelts! However, here's the thing that might be the reason why for slow capacity other than the workers are slow. The ride doesn't have block brakes in the middle of the ride that I know like Raging Bull does, Whizzer, or Demon, and so on. Thus, I think they only can send the train once it hits the brakes at the end of the ride. The reason why it matters is because what happens if the one train valleys inbetween the two hills. Viper at SFGAm, I notice that they send it when it's more than halfway done, but maybe it's because the hills aren't as high at that point, and they can always stop it on the lifthill if something does happen. I guess they can send the train 25 seconds on Goliath before the other one ends, and if something goes wrong, the train will just stuck on the lifthill. The lifthill from a video is about 37 seconds. That's the problem with not having a block brake in the middle of the ride. They need more of them on rides. Six Flags has none of them on the middle of this Goliath, Batman the Rides, and Superman Ultimate Flight. On Goliath, I see one of them, but I wonder if that's enough to stop the train (It doesn't look that big.) They only have 2 trains on Goliath at SFOG. They don't have a 3rd one.
  4. When I think of screams, I think of women. When I think of women plus screams, I think of something not roller coasters. Let the screams continue!! Besides that, there were younger girls on a ride, and they are talking about how they are going to fake scream, and that's just not right in my opinion. Can they eject them out of the park? They are fake screaming. I mean why? Scream for real, or don't scream at all. That's the only thing that annoys me.
  5. I agree with 2 things you are saying. The first one is about SFOG, and they do close the rides early. They also run 1 train on coasters over there for something like Great American Scream Machine. I think all the parks should be run the same. There shouldn't be this decision making by the managers of these parks. Corporate should decide the rules for each and every park they own. That's why one park you go to is horrible, and another park you go to is completely awesome. I heard at SFGAdv, you can't reride if there is no one in line, but that is the only park I know that does that (Six Flags). The worst park that I have been to that is Six Flags is Kentucky Kingdom. I have been to SFOT, SFMM, SFGAm, SFOG, SFGAm, SFA, SFStL, and SFKK. I would say the best is SFOT because they have 3 of my top 10 roller coasters there (Some might disagree, but it's what I think: La Vibora, Mr. Freeze, and Batman the Ride), and they aren't run bad in which I've seen. Next would be Magic Mountain because they just have so many great roller coasters in my opinion. 3rd would be a tie between SFGAm, and SFOG. Six Flags America has a poor maintenance budget, or poor mechanics or something. What ride wasn't broke at that place, broken lapbars, or an Alpine Bobs that rattles when it's working? Invertigos don't have problems what I've seen (from Kings Island), but of couse they have problems with their Two-Face. And so what about Invertigo at California's Great America getting stuck? Roller coasters stop on lifthills. It happens on reliable B&Ms too.
  6. I was talking about that Orbiter, and not at all of them. Busch Gardens has a wimpy one too. It's just some people are prone to getting sick going in circles, and other people aren't. I've been on 3 rides named "Orbiter", and 2 are slow (One is much older of the two that are slow), and doesn't tilt while the other one does both things, and is awesome in my opinion. However, I've been on 4 "Typhoons" that are Orbiters basically, and 3 of them except this one have awesome tilting, and go fast. I've been on the Busch Gardens one, and it's like that one at Wisconsin.
  7. For the Wisdom Viper, I've been on it, and to me it feels like a Zierer Wave Swinger. There isn't much too it in my opinion. For the original Cobra, I've been on that too, and I would say it acts like a Sizzler, but it's not neck snapping, and the g's on that thing if the carnival workers put it backwards are amazing!! Venture Cobra = Great. Wisdom Viper in my opinion = good. That Typhoon (Orbiter) is really lame, and slow. It's really old. For the Spin Out rides, they aren't painful. They redid the background on that Spin Out. For the Zipper was it only running with 3 motors this year? Last year it was, and they would only load the ends of it (4 cars). I'm really shocked that they had all those rides (the same from last year). Some of those rides are up for sale: Extreme X, Viper, Genesis, Double Shock, Orbiter (Typhoon), Hurricane, Wave Swinger, and so on. It just shocks me that they haven't sold one of them yet. http://www.irmpri.com/product.htm
  8. If you don't have to go now, I wouldn't go. This is the worst (most packed time) of the season. The other time is getting close to October 31st especially on Saturdays. At Fright Fest, it might really not be as packed as now, but because there are attractions that are down because of weather (No waterpark, basically no water rides), and last year they had no train, it's going to feel more crowded.
  9. I think that this is a good balance; no point on having it on during the day if it's busy, but if it's not at night, why let it go to waste? It's better with it off during the nighttime because if the line is minimal, why are you waiting an actual 5 minutes for no reason. There have been times when they had that movie on, and when you would get to the station, the cars were empty because we couldn't get to them.
  10. I think both King Chaos, and Revolution are run really, really tame. If those rides were up to par in the way they should be run, they might be great rides. Instead to me, they are wimpy. I've always said that Fiddler's Fling is the most intense ride in the park. It's a good ride, but nothing special in my opinion though. You were talking about Iron Wolf before, and the problem I see with the ride is that yes it will bang your head if you don't do nothing to avoid it, but that there is nothing really to it. It's a looping coaster, and it only goes upside down twice. It's a small layout, and it's much more painful (if you don't do nothing) than it was before with the old not as hard restraints. Chang, and Riddler's Revenge have more stuff going for them. Iron Wolf is a fun ride, but it's just kind of small. Before you were talking about rides crunching, while the ride that I get crunched on is Superman Ultimate Flight towards the end there, but I don't really care. If it hurts, big whoop. Iron Wolf line is usually pretty short, but if the line is long, it's because of really, really slow loading on that ride. For Buccaneer Battle, I think it's a failure. I think at Dollywood it was a failure too, and that's why they couldn't afford anything for this year except a Zipline. SFGAm has it's squirting at people like on Roaring Rapids already, and those hand cranks are just not fun to turn in my opinion. The people that get their jollys off of squirting people for money have been doing this for many years now. You put BB in, and those same people are scared for their lifes because now they might get wet from the people on the boat. They will just go back to Roaring Rapids than.
  11. It sounds like a better operations park than it was for me. Avalanche, the train, Pirate Flight, Intamin Drop ride, and the Octopus were sometimes open, and sometimes not open when I went maybe 2 years ago. I say better operations, because it's a worse park with no Two-Face. Batwing looks really horrible as in regards to paint. Why don't they get their priorities straight, and paint the thing. Also, paint the signs for the path up to Batwing. That is why yellow is a bad color to paint stuff. I never felt that when I went to the park that the people working the rides were "lethargic", but rather that this park is quite small (not enough rides to close so many), has some great stuff, and not everything is open. It's a corporate decision to sacrifice operations at this park for so long, and give it to the bigger parks that have made people not like this park. Everyone might think that Two-Face, and the flying bobs aren't great rides, but when 2 out of 6 great rides aren't open imo at the park (Joker's Jinx, Wild One, Avalanche, Batwing, any Invertigo, and Superman: Ride of Steel) one becomes very disappointed, and thinks were else can I find those rides, and they will be operating no matter what day, or hour I visit the park? Similar rides can be found imo at Kings Island. Diamondback might be close enough for me as a ride like Superman: Ride of Steel, Invertigo is at Kings Island, Firehawk is at Kings Island, or there is always Superman at Six Flags Great America, a version of Joker's Jinx is at Kings Island, and the Wild One really can't be find anywhere but there are different out and back rides. The flying bobs can be found at carnivals (I know of one event that has it every year), and at Indiana Beach. It's not that the rides were bad (I thought 6 were great!), but when one of a person's favorite ride or rides aren't open, it's not like I can come back anytime I feel like.
  12. It's still standing (Wild Adventures) because it was bought out by someone else. 5 people in a park is still 5 people. We are not even talking about 700 people, but only 5 people. Okay, maybe it's 10, but geesh. It reminds of Cypress Gardens ride areas on the weeday, and they took out the rides part. Even though I like emptier parks, I felt weird being at Cypress Gardens, and it was just me on some of those rides. I just wish there were 3 people on it just so it's not like the workers are only running it for me. I wanted to go back the next year, but they weren't open. This was the end of 2008. However, I wanted to go on a weekened so it wasn't dead, and I didn't feel so weird. Now, there are no rides. Oh, well.
  13. Yes, well, Misty and I seemed to be the only ones. Everyone around us loved it. *shrugs* I guess that's why they make chocolate and vanilla. On a side note: It's funny to me how many enthusiasts seem to think that Millennium Force is "overrated," yet it placed #2 in the US in Mitch's most recent Steel Coaster Poll. Kind of makes me wonder what "overrated" even means.... I think Maverick is okay, and that's only because of the "Mr. Freeze" part. I think that Maverick is very overrated though for what it is. I think coasters at Cedar Point might finish higher than another park just because it's the park that has the most roller coasters. So, more coaster enthusiasts are going to go to that park than a park that has 7 roller coasters. So, that's how Millennium Force can be at number 2. Are you telling me that Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags America, or Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia aren't better than MF? It's people's opinions, but oh well. I love bigger walkways at an amusement park. Over Texas has a bad section of the park (near the Gunslinger - Yo-Yo) that when the park isn't even that crowded, that you just can't move at all. Disney World has horrible walkways. The people never want to move, and the place is just jammed everywhere. I rather take the train to the other side of the park than walk. Sure, they could have put more bushes, but come on. I don't care about Millennium Force, but that shirt looks really good. It has a nice design. I think Cedar Point has gotten to be what it is because they don't take down roller coasters. They just build other rides because the park is so big. At Great America, they took down Rolling Thunder to put in Viper, and the Southwest Territory. Cedar Point doesn't have to take down Disaster Transport. I'm sure that a ride like Wildcat was at an amusement park before, and it got replaced by something bigger. My point is that the park has a lot of roller coasters, but some of them are aging. They didn't have to take them down, so they just left them up. I think it's a great park, but yet at the same time when I first visited I was expecting more of the 17 roller coasters to be better than what they were.
  14. I do think they should do more hotels because that should be easy money to them. You know people are coming, and they want to stay near the park. I don't really think it needs to be as grand as a Disney hotel though, or the one they built already by Great Escape. A Breaker's Express like in Cedar Point would be what I'm thinking, and give those guests perks to the park. I do think Nintendo with Mario & other characters, and Zelda would be a great idea as someone said already. The parks have nothing themed Wonder Woman, and I think she's a famous character in which they should have something themed. They have Scooby-Doo dark rides at some parks, but I think they need more dark rides like Scooby-Doo at St. Louis. I think they need more Superman rides. Think about it. There is a Mr. Freeze ride, Batman, Dark Knight, was Posion Ivy - now Catwoman, was a Robin ride, was Two-Face, Penguin, and the Joker rides for Six Flags for the Batman theme rides. However, for Superman rides, there are just Superman, and now Bizzaro themed rides. Where's Lex Luthor, Doomsday, Supergirl, Lois Lane, or Brainiac rides? I personally would like the Flinstones, but I don't think they are relevant today. I think getting a franchinse and not using it to their ability is a waste. An example is Wiggle's World. Where's the big ride for the kids that like Wiggle's World? It just small flats themed in which some of them are copies of the other toddler rides in the park already. Maybe, the car ride is the best different ride out of all of them, but yet where's the Wiggle's characters around the track? I don't think there is much of anything around the track. The Thomas Town area at Magic Mountain is a train, and a rethemed coaster. Where is the dark ride of Thomas the train? It's nice taking a train ride, but what about experiencing a story based on what Thomas goes through by using a dark ride. I don't care for preshows, and I'm sure some people especially at Great America besides me get bored of them. Preshows in my opinion are not the answer to theming a ride. I think it's okay at Disney because most of those people are on vacation, and some of them don't go yearly to the park. Picking something for theming, you need something that's timeless. I think Hot Wheels is a great option to explore along with Barbie for girls. I would love a Hot Wheels Flying Bobs type of ride, but not the Bertazzon one (Chance please). I think movies are more timeless than television though. A movie is 2 hours, and you are done watching it. Take the Three's Company, and today's generation might not care for something like that whereas you say Armageddon and someone can just watch the movie in 2 hours, and be done with it. For Three's Company, it might not be on tv, and they have to buy the dvd. They don't want to buy it if they never watched, and they forget about it. They can use Snow White, Cinderella, Alice and Wonderland, and such character as long as they deviate a little from Disney. Disney changed them a little bit, and took them from Grim's books. So, why not use them? I would if I were Six Flags.
