  1. I dig that retro color blend train. That is sooooo seventies.
  2. I remember the Drunkin Barrels ride from when I was 9. Mindbender was really thrilling back in those days. The Scream machine was beautiful in that fresh patriotic paint scheme. The Flume had both sides back then.
  3. Red Devil, Ghost Town in the Sky, during a torrential rainstorm. Same day, we embarked upon the chairlift down and as soon as we crossed the third tower, experienced a spiritual moment, as lightning struck at least two trees and rain fell from the sky like a cow pissing on a flat rock. It was the most extreme thrill ride that I have ever experienced.
  4. So far this year: Silver Dollar City, Branson Mo. Got some of that Outlaw run Love. Busch Gardens, Tampa. Went on the hunt and Shrekra'd two awesome days away. Royal Gorge, Canon City Co. 1k foot terror trip.
  5. I would like to see S&S use some of the older Arrow designs like the suspended coaster with a corkscrew. I miss the old school Arrows with their innovative surprise elements like Annaconda's (KD) lake tunnel. Steel Phantom's (Kennywood) long second drop is another example of this. Personally, I believe that Arrow had finally found their stride albeit too late, with Dollywood's Tennessee Tornado. The short first drop with Tunnel turn and drop, coupled with the first Arrow free form inversions was fantastic.
  6. They did the same thing, blocking the south gate parking lot, when they built Top Gun/Afterburn. The pics look great.
  7. I was there this weekend as well. I agree that the staff was pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised at their level of attentiveness and and willingness to do better. On Saturday I was waiting for the Georgia Cyclone and I overheard one of the staff complaining that she was bored. I suggested to her that they should act more like Cedar Point ride ops and sing and dance while they did their job. I boarded the train a few seconds after this. The rest of my group were still on the platform and they reported that the ops started doing exactly as I suggested, Singing and Dancing. The train conductor was doing her spiel in a hurried monotone level on Saturday as we left the Rabun Gap station and I was found hoping she would just be quiet. I was quite amused when we stopped at the Marthasville station, the engineer walked back and conducted the station spiel in a falsetto then baritone voice. He then spent the next few minutes doing a decent standup act before heading back to the poor neutered Texas (diesel convert) engine to pull us back round. Maintenance issues aside, we had a great time at SFOG.
