  1. Very accurate review. I was actually surprised by how smooth that first turn in the drop was. I had been anticipating it being quite rough. I think you're right that it could eventually become that way. Also, the ending WAS quite disappointing. I found it interesting that there were all those slow curves at the end. I also found that initial high turn to kill the pacing of the ride. It never regains that same excitement after.
  2. Jason, I have a question. I noticed that in the first test video you posted, the lift hill looked like it was going at elevator-cable speed, but it looked rather normal in the most recent video. Had they actually sped up the lift, or was that video editing on your part?
  3. ^^^^Putting it inside the boundaries of SKC would be a very awkward spot to put it. The only place I could think of was behind THBS, but upon further inspection, it doesn't look THAT big. Are you also referring to where Tempest used to be? They could put it over there. By the way, when you say that an employee told you this, I wonder, do you talk to ride ops or what?
  4. I think it would work. The audience for the two parks is quite different. However, I don't know where they would fit it.
  5. Wow, even with traffic in L.A. you can go 100 mph on the freeway? Sweet! I envy you for getting to see the Buffalo Bill's sign zapped! Sounds like fun! Look forward to pictures!
  6. Batman clone (SFNO) at SFFT with SeaWorld nearby? http://www.screamscape.com/html/six_flags_fiesta_texas.htm
  7. That second to last picture is one of the (if not the) COOLEST pictures I've EVER seen of a roller coaster, especially because the guy towards the front has his arms up.
  8. I love the coming to america reference. that's one of my favorite movies.
  9. Now why does he have to go and extrapolate from his experiences that a lesser-known, inferior Six Flags park is on par with, and indicative of the caliber of the whole chain? I'm not trying to deprecate the park. I really like it, but I think everyone agrees it's not the best park in the chain. Also, I think SF has made great strides in the effort to regain customer loyalty. I was just at SFFT and the ride ops were perky (to the extent of being annoying...), operations were efficient, all major rides were operational (unless you consider Frisbee a major ride), and the whole ambience seemed so much more relaxed and upbeat than I remember. The ride ops lightened up their safety schpiels and made everyone feel at ease. No monotonous droning this time! Good job SF! Now I can't WAIT to get to one of your next parks, because I know this is EXACTLY how it will be!
  10. Cool another Austinite! I've been there so many times but have yet to go on Mr. Freeze because it's always been closed when I've gone! I need to get back up there.
  11. The only problem with the valedictorian I see is that there are always those super-anal kids who think 100 is not good enough for a grade on a project, and insist on making it pretty and printed out on special glossy paper, or turn in a permission slip for a field trip early, all so they can get their 115 or 120. I'm serious! So the content of my work can be better than their's, and my base grade can be better, but they essentially 'grub' for extra points by complaining to the teachers. However, this is AISD's generally lousy teachers. There's SO much extra credit. I don't believe in extra credit. Maybe you should've been paying attention the first time! And what makes me angry is that there's extra credit for completely non-academic accomplishments, such as, previously mentioned, turning in a permission slip early, or having your project bound, etc. Is it really fair for those kids to have a higher GPA for completely non-academic accomplishments? It may not seem like a big problem, but in the schools I go to, it IS!
  12. I'm growing tired of the History.. mhm... Hitler... channel. At least 98% of the channel is WWII stuff. Don't take it wrong! I absolutely love history (my dad is a US History professor at UT Austin and has written 20 books on topics from Jackson to Teddy Roosevelt, to Wilson, to the masters of enterprise, etc.) but I wish they would focus more on other eras as well.
  13. Okay, but in these cases, who exonerates and releases them? It's not the appellate courts, because they're only really supposed to determine the legality and accuracy in following court procedures, not the defendant's innocence (or lack thereof). So, is it normally the governor who grants clemency or is it the state board of pardons and paroles? I know each state would have different policies, but I was just curious.
  14. Coming to America. No one out of my family has even heard of the movie except for a few, and they all thought it was mediocre!
