  1. When I went for Howl O Scream back in 2017 I encountered the wasps on Mach Tower but that was it. That's insane it has become such an issue. If anything it definitely added to the thrill of the ride that day!
  2. Photo Trip Report 6/5 My friend Casey and I had 3.5 hours to spend at the park as I had to work at 3pm. Since it was a Wednesday in early June we figured crowds would be light and that we would be able to do everything we wanted to in that time. We were right. SFA was pretty dead that day with everything being a walk on. Every coaster was running one train and for good reason. Wasn't even mad haha. I was bummed that Ragin Cajun was closed as I have yet to ride it. Batwing was also down but that is no shocker. Renegade Rapids was also closed and drained of water. We started the day with Wonder Woman: LOT, this was more disorienting than Windseeker but I really enjoy these rides and I like the location of it. As for the coasters that day, Superman was running great in the front seat but the back wasn't as smooth. Nothing that noticeable though, still running great imo. Joker's Jinx was hauling a$$ and was really smooth. Wild One was showing it's centennial age a little towards the end of the ride and the helix but it's still a crazy fun woodie with some unique elements (that double down though). Mind Eraser was Mind Eraser Anyone else think SLC's are really forceful? We both agreed that there was some strong G's on the first inversions. We rode Firebird in the front row and I really enjoyed that. I have yet to try the back on it however. Roar was the surprise of this trip as I was dreading giving this ride another chance. I am so glad I did though because it was actually running quite well. Smoother than Wild One actually. I still say RMC it SFA but it's not too bad and I would of definitely rode it again. I was honestly pretty disappointed in the cost of a single day ticket for this park though. Luckily, Casey had gotten us discounted tickets but originally it would of cost me $92 for a single day ticket with parking included. That was the slightly discounted online price too. In all, it was a great 3.5 hours at the park though considering our circumstances. Onto the pictures! Casey is ready to go! Did not realize this part of Typhoon Sea Coaster was still standing! Pretty neat.
  3. Thank you guys! I appreciate the feedback! And yes Dorney is a little gem in my opinion, I had a great time. I especially enjoyed the Steel Force/ Thunderhawk section of the park with Cedar creek running through it....and the geese of course!
  4. Friday May 24th Photo Trip Report Dorney Park is a little over 3 hours away from me and in my 13 years of being a coaster enthusiast I have never made the trip out there, until this past Memorial Day weekend. The weather was perfect in Allentown and I arrived to the park around 12pm. Started heading towards the front gate when I noticed swarms of students wearing the dreaded matching shirts There was a bunch of school music groups at the park that day. If it weren't for all the school kids it would of been absolutely dead. Wait times still were not bad at all. Never over 20-30 minutes. We decided to hit Hydra first and chose the back row. I was so surprised by this floorless. The drop was nice in the back and I loved the flow of the inversions. The jojo roll was very fun and neat as well. I think this ties for my favorite floorless with Bizarro. So after Hydra we rode Thunder Canyon, White Water Landing, and Thunder Creek Mountain. Needless to say, we were wet. To dry off we waited the longest wait of the day and rode Thunderhawk. It was running one train operations until the staff did eventually add another train and test it which added to our wait at the time. My brother and I really liked Thunderhawk though. Airtime was there and a really cool turnaround topped with rich history and bam, that's a winner for me. From there we went over to Possessed. I enjoyed the non twisting spike a lot and wish I could of experienced the holding- brake! We also got stuck after the ride was finished as someone pushed on a gate in the station which flipped a sensor. The train was just sitting in the launch section for about 10-15 min. Not the worst experience. Since we were in the area, we waited about 10 minutes and hopped in the very last row of Steel Force. I was very excited to ride my first Morgan hyper and compare it to Magnum as well. Great floater airtime on every hill and a crazy turnaround on this one. Just a very fun re-rideable coaster. Was it better than Magnum for me? No, I still prefer Magnum just a tiny bit. After Steel Force we decided to check out some flat rides. Demon Drop was really cool in a messed up sort of way. Very horrifying and interesting experience. Revolution was fun and had no wait at all so that was nice. it was at this point in the day that the only remaining task my brother and I wanted to accomplish was ride Talon. This turned to be quite the adventure. Talon was running earlier in the afternoon but when we decided to head that way in the evening, there was the sight nobody wants to see, a chain across the entrance and an employee posted there to give the bad news. We walked away feeling defeated and I was already having feelings of regret for not having ridden it earlier in the day. This invert has been on my mind for such a long time and I was beyond bummed. To cheer ourselves up we bought some Rita's Italian ice and tried Hydra in the front row. I vote backrow over front for this ride. Upon exiting Hydra I saw a beautiful thing off in the distance... a train heading up Talon's lift. We made a beeline for it and were waiting in a 15 minute line. I was happy. We made it to the station and before you know it our restraints were being checked. But, instead of hearing an "All Clear" over the speakers, something less desired was stated. The ride ops told the station that Talon would be suspending operations for the moment and that everyone could continue to wait in line, but was not recommended. So, once again we walked away from Talon, this time hurting a little more than the first. I was starting to plan a second trip to Dorney in my head just to get a ride on this thing. To ease our pain this time we tried another run on Steel Force and was effective at changing our moods. At this point we decided to start heading towards the front gate and head home. To our surprise we saw Talon running as we were walking out. No questions asked we took our third attempt at riding the elusive invert. This time it was a walk on, so we chose the very front row. We had our restraints checked and this time, we were headed out the station and up the lift. This was definitely one of the smoothest B&M inverts I have ridden if not the smoothest. I loved the pacing, inversions, and the strong and fast finish. Well worth the wait I would say. Overall, a really perfect day and a great first time for us at the park. Onto the photos! Oh, and please excuse the lack of trains in the shots, I was feeling a little impatient that day
  5. Awesome trip reports and great pictures C.O.! Batwing is so love/hate for me because I enjoy the coaster but cannot stand how slow the dispatch times are along with the reliability issues.
  6. Firebird Media Day Raindrops splattered against my windshield as my car cruised into the employee entrance of Six Flags America. The last time I had been to this park was in 2016. I recall riding Apocalypse one time and I could honestly say it made Mind Eraser seem smooth. I experienced some rough headbanging and never rode it again. I was very excited to attend Firebird's media day as it was a new experience for me and I was eager to see how the coaster compared after the floor-less train conversion. After signing in and receiving our media passes, my amazing girlfriend, Amanda and I hopped into the back of a black Chevy Impala and were driven through the park until we came to our stop at Firebird. Multiple tents set up shielded us from the gentle rain and the smell of bacon filled the air as a nice breakfast was provided for the event. Everyone was very excited and eager to ride. The coaster was essentially christened by two local firetrucks and their hoses. Then it was time to ride. The rain cleared up and out came the sun. We boarded the train and were rolling out of the station a few moments later. At the top of the lift I was ready to try this old but new B&M's layout but this time sitting down and with no floor beneath me. In my opinion, the coaster is much better than Apocalypse. It has gone from a try once and never again type of ride to a very re- ridable and fun coaster. I really enjoyed Firebird. There was only a couple moments of headbanging and it was very minimal. This is a great addition to SFA's coaster lineup and I am really looking forward to going back at some point this year.
  7. Thanks! I really appreciate that. The beach was the best place for pics of Magnum imo.
  8. Thank You! My 55-250mm lens came in very handy and is becoming my favorite one to use for theme parks/coasters.
  9. Overall, crowds were okay. The coasters near the front like Gatekeeper, Raptor, and Valravn would consistently have fairly long waits. However, towards the end of the night lines began to let up.....except for SteVe haha.
  10. Had such a great time on this trip! Went for two days and rode every coaster including Steel Vengeance once. The lines for SteVe were consistently at least 1.5hrs or more. However, the one ride my group and I caught was a backseat ride at sunset... amazing to say the least. I explored the beach for the first time and it was actually one of the highlights of the trip for me. Great views of Magnum and lots of scenic wildlife. Other than that I was really loving Magnum this year too. Maybe it was the bugs that added to the thrill and fun but I was laughing way too hard every ride. And while I love the view from the top of MF, I'd say the view from Magnum's apex is slightly nicer in my opinion. Anyways, onto the photos! Hope you guys enjoy! Sandusky Bay has some gnarly looking fish. We found a couple of these on the beach. Seagull nest with eggs! You absolutely have to take this shot no matter what. It is required. Love all the lighting in the Millennium Midway at night.
