  1. How are SFFT operations typically on a “colder” day? I plan on visiting the park this upcoming Sunday but the high temperature is currently expected to be only 60 degrees, so realistically in the 50s most of the day. Should we anticipate any challenges with any coasters not operating in the cold? We could swap for Saturday which we had planned for Sea World, as it looks to be a bit warmer, but we thought the SFFT crowds would be lighter on Super Bowl Sunday? Thanks for any tips!
  2. And here's another! Not much has changed for me as compared to last year's ballot, as Kennywood was my only new park. 3. I'm not sure of the exact date, but if you aren't completely positive of whether or not you want to do the program, I wouldn't suggest applying as soon as the applications become available! Once you complete the application and have your phone interview, you are only given about two weeks to accept or decline your offer. Since I made the mistake of applying right away in August while still being unsure about the program, I then had to make a hasty decision in September, which seemed really early considering I wasn't going to be leaving until the end of January. Just a quick warning! I felt very much the same way, but I'm hoping that it will truly be an amazing experience! It seems that the biggest issue people have had is with the housing, but hopefully if you suck it up and play by their rules, everything else should be fine!
  4. ^ Thank you very much! I'm definitely leaning towards taking one of the Disney classes now. And Chatham Square does indeed look a lot nicer. Luckily I'll have my car with me, so hopefully its less convenient location won't be such an issue.
  5. Awesome photos and review! This gets me really excited to move to Orlando at the end of the month!
  6. Add me to the list for Spring 2011! I arrive January 31st and leave in mid-August, and will be doing housekeeping in the resorts! Reading through everything in this thread has been extremely helpful, but I had a few more questions for those who may have completed the program already: I will be taking one online class through my university to get internship credit, but would anyone suggest also taking one of the Disney classes too? I understand that the Disney Exploration Series courses don't earn you any credit, however I feel like they could be interesting/helpful for my career interests (I'm wanting to work in the hotel/resort industry). Also, can someone possibly give a breakdown of the apartment complexes? I know you don't choose until you arrive in Orlando and that it often depends on how many roommates you have, but any other information would be greatly appreciated regarding their size, location, etc. I can't wait to leave, and hopefully some of us College Program TPRer's can meet up while we are all down there and visit some Florida parks together!
  7. Are all of the roller coasters/rides open during Halloween Haunt on Friday nights? My sister and I are thinking of going tomorrow, but we don't really care for the haunted mazes and what-not, we just want some night rides on the Beast and Diamondback. Also, what should we expect in terms of crowds?
  8. That's what was odd to me. Since when has a coaster car ever had four rows? Do you mean four rows of seats in each car, or four cars that make up the train? If you mean four cars, I believe that's what Intamin has used for it's mega-lites thus far. So it has been done, but I do agree that it looks strange.
  9. ^^ What he said! I love the Intamin restraints on Maverick and find them quite comfortable... until you've hit the brake run and realize how they have progressively tightened on your thighs.
  10. Dang! Did you get a chance to try the right slide of those two white speed slides? It looks like you could get a nice pop of air on that little drop in the middle. And thanks for sharing these great photos! This looks like a neat water park.
  11. As stated before, I love that the majority of these accidents were caused by guests violating safety regulations, thus putting THEMSELVES in harms way. Yet they failed to mention several notable incidents in which there actually were mechanical/operator errors (SFKK's drop tower, Disney's monorail, and an abundance of SCAD Towers... just to name a few).
  12. Does anyone in the northern Ohio area know when the local schools go back into session? I'm looking to visit the park sometime this August (as early as the 13th), but I was wondering when the crowds might become lighter. Thanks!
