Luna Park opened in 1935 and has seen its share of ups and downs. The current version of the park dates to 2004, but still retains much of the charm of an old-fashioned seaside park. There are two big stars here. The Wild Mouse, one of the few remaining wooden mouse coasters still in operation, provides great views of Sydney Harbor while you hold on for dear life! Coney Island Funnyland, the funhouse, provides all sorts of ways to injure yourself, such as a Wheel of Death and Wooden Slides of Doom! There is even a surprisingly good Rotor. Although Luna Park does not merit a whole day, it is a nice place to spend an afternoon or an evening.
Half the fun is taking the ferry over to Luna Park. The park entrance is an excellent, creepy, giant head and you get to walk through it's mouth. The wooden wild mouse is fun and slightly terrifying. Ferris wheel has nice views of the harbor. There isn't all that much else to do here, but it's got an old time vibe and waterfron location that really makes it worthwhile.
