Many of Bakken's rides are run by individual operators, and some flats are replaced occasionally with more popular models. Tornado is Intamin's first coaster with spinning cars; if you have an unbalanced car be prepared for a lot of spinning. Rutschebanen was one of the few remaining side-friction cars with a brakeman until 2000, when new Kumbak cars were installed that didn't require a brakeman. Some of the thrilling flat rides include an Enterprise, KMG Fireball, Tarngyset (S&S Space Shot), a Swinging Ship, and the most intense ride of the group, Extreme. Some of the indoor rides are Desperados, a shooting ride with a cult following, and a ghost train named Spogelsesslottet. There are also plenty of rides for families, including a fun house. |
| Food |
| Bakken has over 40 restaurants and bars to suit every taste from hot dogs to local dishes (Smorrebrod = open-faced sandwiches and Frikadeller = fried meatballs) to fresh seafood. Since the park is free admission, many visit the park just to dine, and some of the most popular restaurants may have a wait at peak eating hours. |
| Operating Season |
| The park is open April through August with weekend-only operations in early April. |
| Access & Location |
The park is about 10 miles north of Copenhagen and less than a mile from the Klampenborg rail station along the C Line from Copenhagen. More information on the location of the park can be found on the park's website http://www.bakken.dk/english/find_bakken.html |
| Nearby Lodging |
| There are not any major hotels in the area, so it's best to stay in Copenhagen. |

| Shows |
| The park's mascot Pjerrot is a mime who roams the park and performs magic and hosts a puppet show. Bakken Hviles Music Hall hosts a risque cabaret show, and Circus Revue is traditional circus. There are also many outdoor stages where entertainers vary from daredevils to clowns to song-and-dance artists. |

| TPR Notes |
|
The oldest amusement park in Europe consists of a few rides owned by the park mixed in with attractions run by independent operators.
Most of the rides are moderate in nature, but some of them pack a wallop. A few of the rides/attractions are indoors, which helps out on a rainy day. | |

Bakken is a very good traditional park that brings to mind Knoebels in Pennsylvania. This is a park for ambling about, and the decidedly "noncorporate" feel of its setting (in a Danish national park) is a plus. The park has two standout rides: Tornado (an insane Intamin spinning mouse) and Rutchebanen (a wooden scenic railway with a crazy double-down drop). The park's ghost train is also very good (with an extra surprise that I won't reveal here), as is its nautically themed fun house--and don't forget Desperadoes! You'll find a varying assortment of flats here, mostly run by private contractors. The park's main restaurant is excellent, too.
