When you think of Japan, Don Quixote and Picasso don't come to mind--unless you're thinking about Parque Espana. The park's theming, complete with Spanish-style architecture and landscaping in a beautiful mountain setting, rivals that of Universal or Disney. The park also delivers the thrills with three coasters, including an excellent inverted and mine train, and there are plenty of attractions for the whole family, including three dark rides that seem inspired by particularly strong acid trips. Be advised that there's very little shade at Parque Espana, which makes the air-conditioned "magical escalator ride" a must on hot days.
On a hot, sunny day you might forget you are in Japan if it wasn't for all the Japanese people in the park. Many of the rides are mechanically elaborate - on a Disney level. The themed elements are consistent and detailed. Two really good coasters, plus one terrible, painful one.
