The Angry Darren Mullins
I spent Christmas weekend in Changsha, which is near the center of China. I visted Hunan Martyr's Park and Window of the World in Changsha. HMP is a large park that has various facilities and includes a section with amusement rides. Two of the coasters listed on RCDB have been removed over the past year, but the looping coaster which is called Roller Coaster is still there. It is a decent ride and wasn't rough like I expected it to be. There is a new Golden Horse spinning mouse called Spinning Coaster that just opened earlier this year. The Spinning Coaster hasn't been added to RCDB yet, but it soon will be. There are many other rides. The prices of the rides were kind of expensive. The coasters were 20 yuan each to ride. After being done at Martyr's Park, I went to Changsha's Window of the World, I had been to the other Window of the World in Shenzhen and I was surprised because Chansha's version is a full-scale amusement park. There are two coasters. There is the High Altitude Sliding Coaster, which is a loop and corkscrew that seems to be falling apart and there is a spinning mouse called Spinning Coaster. There are many other rides here too. On the way back home, I stopped at Shenzhen Children's Park and rode a couple of rides. Entrance to Hunan Martyr's Park A view inside the park the park's carousel The large ferris wheel at Hunan Martyr's Park Roller Coaster Going through the loop The new for 2010 Spinning Coaster at Martyr's Park Here is the entrance to the Spinning Coaster One more look at the the Spinning Coaster I wonder what this ride was It has seen better days I guess it could have been anything Here is the entrance to Changsha's Window of the World The carousel was like the one at Martyr's Park They had a castle in the park They had the Spinning Coaster and it had a long wait Another look at the spinning coaster High Altitude Sliding Coaster Everything is made in China these days One more look at this coaster before leaving I stopped at Shenzhen Children's Park to ride the Golden Dragon Tackle to finish my trip

The Angry Darren Mullins
I had a great time up there. The most interesting part of the weekend wasn't the parks. It was the train ride through Hunan province. Along the way, the world's fastest conventional train passed many little rural communities. People lived in these places and I saw people outside, but I didn't see very many cars. They had roads leading up to the houses, but there was simply a lack of cars. This must have been a poor part of China. The city of Changsha is a nice place.

The Angry Darren Mullins
Here is some info for you. Window of the World is owned by OCT-the same company that owns the Happy Valley Parks. There are two Window of the World parks. One is in Shenzhen and this one is in China. The theme of both parks is minature models of famous landmarks around the word. Window of the world in Shenzhen has a working model of Niagara Falls, NYC, the White House, pyramids and other monuments and landmarks. At the Changsha park there are models of things like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. the Changsha park also has a lot more rides than the Shenzhen Park. Perhaps the reason for this is Happy Valley Shenzhen is located across the road from Window of the World.
