See the Smokies’ most spectacular light display and a lineup of live Christmas shows that celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, all at Dollywood.
4 million lights drape the park in holiday splendor, casting a warm glow that sets the scene for a winter wonderland like no other. Create a family tradition at Dollywood’s sensational shows, including the triumphant return of perennial favorites Dollywood’s Babes in Toyland and Christmas in the Smokies. Let the heartwarming sounds of the season set the stage for a Christmas the entire family will enjoy.
Don’t miss Santa’s Workshop, where larger-than-life-sized toys and an 18-foot-tall Christmas tree fill guests of all ages with wide-eyed wonder as they discover a giant wagon, sailboat, dollhouse and more amid the hustle and bustle as Santa and his helpers ready for their big night! Santa’s also the star of the Parade of Lights, along with a cast of brightly lit floats and colorful characters.

I went to calender to see the operation days for the holidays and just for fun hit attractions. Everything shows up except the water rides. Is this correct, I can really go coaster riding at Dollywood in December?

That is correct! Most of the coasters though shut down if the temperature drops below 40 degrees. So I would suggest making sure you ride them during the daylight hours first when its warmer and then try again at night to ensure you get the rides. The coaster exception is Blazing Fury since its indoors it does not have weather restrictions.

Could have sworn I saw a trip report from Robb and Elisa in Japan where they were riding coasters in the snow. Why is it parks in the US are so unwilling to let people enjoy their attractions no matter what the weather is?
Two big thumbs up to Dollywood for having there park fully operational during their holiday celebration. Now I wish I would have went ahead and bought that Gold Pass when I there a few weeks ago. If I would have known that I could be riding coasters in December only 4 hours away from my home instead of going all the way to Florida, Texas or California I would have.

As Dollywood has mentioned before all of there rides follow the manufacturers suggestion when it comes to the closing of rides due to weather. So my guess would be the parks over seas that operate in the snow are not following the manufactures guidelines or the snow is still on the ground from previous cold days.
You could always visit during Christmas and get your Gold Season Pass then. If you purchase 2010 Gold/Regular Season Passes now you get the rest of Smoky Mountain Christmas plus all of 2010 as well so it would not be a bad deal. Plus 2010 passes are at pre-season prices right now through March 14th.
