Tiger of PTS
So a friend and I are flying into O'Hare to see the Halcali concert at the convention center in May, and want to spend one of our days at Great America, but neither of us are old enough to rent a car. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way, if possible at all, to get there by public transportation? Or maybe some sort of shuttle? ScubaSteve442
If you don't want to take 3+ hours to get from O'Hare to 6F, you can take any of the airport shuttle companies. Price should be around $40 per person. Where are you staying?
mcjaco
That trip with PACE, RTA and shuttles will take forever. The gist of it is, that there really isn't a good way to get there via public transportation. It'd be more expensive, but less aggravating, to rent a car for the day. Where are you staying? And which convention center? I'm assuming Rosemont?
haiderodes
I've been thinking about making a trip up to SFGam myself. All the routes using public transportation seem to take a really long time. Having been to Chicago once before, and knowing how the transit system is, I'm thinking of either renting a car or just using an airport shuttle. Since you say renting a car is out for you, I suggest using the shuttle if it fits in your price range. I found Airport Express which has a rate of $47 each way and itll take you directly to the park. I think its cheaper if theres more than one person with you. mcjaco
^ Honestly, at $47 one way, it'd be the same cost to rent a car for the day. Also be aware that 294 and the Edens Expressway north to Gurnee are both under major refurbishment projects this year. It could take you the better part of two hours to get up there in the morning rush hour, or back to you hotel in Rosemont.
