Fox Studios World: My second RCT2 park

Postby thirstydeer » Thu Jun 21, 2007 11:30 pm

Hey everyone. Welcome to my second ever custom park attempt: Fox Studios World. My first park was Six Flags Xtreme Canada. As my follow-up project, I opted for a movie themed park, but wanted to choose a movie studio not previously done (to the best of my knowledge).

Here are some of the ideas I have for this project. Mind you, these ideas can change over the course of building the park.

Likely Themed Areas:
Star Wars Galaxy - A section of park themed to the original Star Wars trilogy. My planned signature ride will be a flying rollercoaster going through the Death Star trenches much like the climactic moments in Episode 4: A New Hope (the original Star Wars movie).
Thrill Sector - This area of the park will house several thrill rides. My fondest idea is Behind Enemy Lines, a propelled inverted coaster that is launched off an aircraft carrier running its course over the lake and edging a mountainous terrain.
Marvel Universe - A possible division of the Thrill Sector devoted to Marvel characters that became Fox movies. Characters will be taken from the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Daredevil franchises.
Old Tyme Exposition - A non-movie themed area dedicated to traditional traveling carnival and fairground rides.
Ice Age: Chill Zone - My kid's section of the park themed to the popular Ice Age computer animated movie and its sequel.
Robot City - A second kid's section of the park themed to the computer animated movie called Robots.

Fox actually has quite a few movie titles that has potential for some good rides. Such titles I am considering include: Flight Of The Phoenix, I Robot, Cast Away, Speed, True Lies, Broken Arrow, Aliens, Predator, Die Hard, and perhaps others.

In every update I do, I will post a link to my own website. My site is host to my park downloads, as well as all screenshots. Clicking on the link will take you right to the photo gallery.

Now for my first update...

On my website, you can see screenshots of the park entrance, and supporting parking lot. These are by no means complete, but I wanted to give you a taste of my progress, and so you can see what sort of direction I'm taking the beginning of this project in.

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE SCREENSHOTS OF MY PARK IN PROGRESS. You can also view my website, and the screenshots by clicking on my banner below.

Looking forward to some feedback, even though I realize there is not much to comment on. Remember, this is only my 2nd park attempt.

Sorry for the double post, but I need some specific advice here...

I'm debating a few options in terms of how to do the parking lot. Specifically, in terms of doing the actual parking slots. Please take a look at this screenshot I did, and tell me which you think is the best way to go. I've circled each option and numbered them...

Note: This screenshot is not available by visiting my website. I made this specifically to post on these forums, and get suggestions on.

Option 1:
Grey tarmac, using custom scenery to show the parking slots. Since some ground can be seen between the slots and the walkway, I changed the ground type to checkerboard edging, but I could change it to another edging (such as ice).

Option 2:
Grey tarmac, using the ground edging to represent the parking slots. In this example, I'm using the ice edging to accomplish this.

Option 3:
Grey tarmac, using the ground edging to represent the parking slots. In this example, I'm using the checkerboard edging to accomplish this.

Option 4?
Other ideas?

Incorporating MidWestBoyInLA's custom roadway/parking scenery, this is what I've put together right now.

The reason why the regular parking slots, and the light poles are purple, is because it's part of my plan to colour code sections of the parking lot. Basically the same idea as having big numbers or letters posted on some poles to make it easier to remember where you parked. I'll be using many different colours as I get more of the parking lot done... or as our British friends say, the car park. My girlfriend is British, so I had to say that last statement.

Thoughts?

It's very realistic, however,
1) There is too many handicapped spots.
2) IMO, the pink looks bad.

1) I was wondering when someone would say that - I knew someone would. I'll probably get rid of a row of em or 2.

2) It's actually purple, not pink. Every section of the car park will have a different colour to it. Since purple is my favourite colour, I'm starting there.

Not much of an update, but wanted to show you what I am up to. Truth be told, I'm not up to much, simply because I have a lot going on right now.

Nonetheless, here's a taste of where I am in the park. I'm adding in the amphitheatre, which is located in a somewhat hidden private section of the park, near the main entrance. I got mostly favourable reviews regarding the amphitheatre I made in my previous FSW project before it got lost, so I am basically copying it.

The more I look at the amphitheatre, the more I start to think it doesn't look as good as it should. So, in other words, this isn't the final version of it. I definitely will be changing it around. Any particular ideas?

It looks nice, I'm looking forward to a download! But why don't you just post the screenshots here?

The entrance needs a little bit of TLC. Just look at other peoples to get ideas.

Sorry for the long delay in responding. Moving to the other end of the country, moving homes, and starting a new career all at the same time is rather time consuming.

I don't post screenshots with my updates mainly because I post identical updates on numerous sites (thus receiving more feedback I can use to better my park), and I simply copy and paste the post from one site to the other. They all refer to the screenshots on my site.

Some sites have specific restrictions on size of the shot and all that so this way I don't have to worry changing the screenshot to meet the requirements of all the different sites I use.
