Photo TR:Marineland, Niagara Falls, MFI, & Anchor Bar

Recommended Posts

After a fun filled Friday at Wonderland, Tom had one more day to enjoy in the Southern Ontario area.

Saturday, myself, Nikki, Jer, and Tom enoyed Marineland and Niagara Falls, before meeting up with Nicole for MFI and Anchor Bar.

Felt like we did alot more then we actually did thanks to the massive size of Marineland.

Marineland is overpriced, way too big, and has questionable animal treaments. But Tom needed the credits, and Nikki,Jer, and I hadn't been since we were really young.

Who let Tom figure out the bill? Remember this isn't England, we actually tip over here.

Eat the wing!! Eat the wing!!

IMG_5823.JPG.6692fc9159c3afc48c3574afcd1dd9a8.JPG

Tom, look sad. That's not sad, that's British.

IMG_5818.JPG.ccf425d733b4c058b2ab5b0e0e5cdec7.JPG

The pain of MFI was wiped from my mind when we decided to go to Anchor Bar.

IMG_5811.JPG.6edabe9142a53ec4727635df734e321d.JPG

Damn it, they broke it again after one ride. MFI why do you hate me so much??

IMG_5809.JPG.897e58ae7c4b6f1480f3f61967a92cd3.JPG

Yay, they fixed it!! Ride on!!

IMG_5807.JPG.c498b9b6b6686fb90adb2c1801420006.JPG

Uh oh. That doesn't look good. (both the butt crack and the broken ride)

IMG_5806.JPG.46c98a51110bbf49bccfe9aff0cf826e.JPG

Silver Comet, how you curse me. Neither too nice weather, nor bridge delays are going to stop me this time.

IMG_5802.JPG.4b3d2788a857e0906d8e7bc852a27bfb.JPG

Crappiest spinner ever. May as well just keep the pin locked the whole ride.

IMG_5798.JPG.415ad2679fcad8a6b810ee5e3a405eaf.JPG

Made it to MFI after getting grilled by some jerk customs officer.

Tom gets some chocolate balls.

Again, long arms come in handy.

IMG_5792.JPG.997e8282dbcf22f77061e1d530ae3fd5.JPG

The masachist side of me wants to see the maid of the mist go under the falls. You won't get THAT wet or pulverized.

IMG_5790.JPG.a9fb24970640b7b516a60f46e1a9e80e.JPG

I think the American falls vomited on our side of the river. Real mature American falls.

IMG_5786.JPG.70df07c7621d8b2d661cf4674cb8578d.JPG

Awesome Canadian falls.

IMG_5781.JPG.6fe64994e4adbc884837b9f8b0e192a0.JPG

Crappy American falls.

IMG_5780.JPG.c83fef8c24114357f963612adb463600.JPG

Onto Niagara Falls for some culture credits. Pile driver wasn't running. Probably failed to get permits again.

IMG_5777.JPG.61343e260770acbbdb918baa35ad2e2c.JPG

Best ride of the day!! They even had to bring out an extra stroller for Nikki. :)

IMG_5770.JPG.8337a8b49c7eb689029c7bde22e4f10d.JPG

This girl got about 5 extra rides because the ride op didn't know how to park the train properly.

IMG_5765.JPG.ed67f5627a5636c36e29c420f0144b88.JPG

The keeper said the big ones are just chilling. Kind of looks dead to me. Maybe those protesters out front had a point??

IMG_5761.JPG.f740ab4ba8b695bb47de12a4e2efc433.JPG

I think it wants the baby in the stroller. Or the lady in the wheelchair.

IMG_5759.JPG.21497e1e7b70c5e700828b44584f0db8.JPG

Ooohh, Killer Whales. Wonder what we get to feed them this time?

IMG_5745.JPG.3660058a20c53b5283d999f67a7556e0.JPG

I've got a plan. I'll just throw this food all over that old man. Then I'll make a run for the gates as they maul him.

IMG_5743.JPG.3a81fd930459bc7965d01be510448b46.JPG

Save yourself, they've got me cornered!!

IMG_5740.JPG.91caebaebc3fb3f631efb9b16d789d6d.JPG

I put up a brave face, but I really am scared.

IMG_5731.JPG.e34c6b7cb79a162b494d74280d2fc379.JPG

For $2 you too can feed drugged up deer. They don't even get corn pops though, looks more like dried cat food.

Now back to questionable animal exhibits, Deerschwitz.

IMG_5725.JPG.a4feaf27fe628c8f6a8d7662ed437a1e.JPG

5500 feet long. I'd say the drop, loops, helix, and bow tie might be about 2000 feet. The rest is just filler.

IMG_5723.JPG.dc951373ff3ea5b3b204deed18aa3bc5.JPG

Sky Screamer did have some pretty cool visuals however. If you sit on the correct side you get a great view of the falls.

IMG_5719.JPG.982a6e19417eee147667e95d352698fb.JPG

We stop for a rest and realize that we've walked above the condor ride which I once thought was tall.

IMG_5717.JPG.8121836bfe3ec31accaa0027e8141f1c.JPG

Crap, now we gotta make the long walk up to Sky Screamer. Who's idea was it to build the ride on top of a 150 foot fake hill?

IMG_5709.JPG.393cb3bf1f894bcb482a75a2a50f124f.JPG

Topple Tower is just missing a queue and a beluga head.

IMG_5696.JPG.6c8ff6575e6f8f929416c2e9b3069838.JPG

The entrance to the ride is actually cooler then the ride itself.

IMG_5705.JPG.120d5a447ad8bc0b44dda65808fc6abf.JPG

It's good to be tall. I did not have to be Robin Hood to get this shot.

IMG_5700.JPG.5487cba62989a1612bb5ae6cac1f9795.JPG

No being Robin Hood.

IMG_5688.JPG.7631eece6e1adb50f6b1fe55011be8e2.JPG

Oddly enough the bowtie doesn't hurt, and is actually kind of cool after coming out of the huge tunnel.

IMG_5686.JPG.2090e66a53916d2d1735a6179abe72e9.JPG

Then again, it does cover 30 acres, so they may have a point in some ways. Longest lifthill, with the least amount of excitement on the other side.

IMG_5687.JPG.937fff7061b847fc5cde3b07bbc66999.JPG

Enough of the bears. Onto Dragon Mountain, the worlds largest steel roller coaster. Or at least that's what Marineland claims.

IMG_5713.JPG.5b33e668684f5c733357a6c4d46697c1.JPG

Way to go Tom, you scared away the bears food.

IMG_5712.JPG.92c88ec7cb0cc73be900f42210847916.JPG

Seriously, what kind of life is that? They'd probably much more prefer a tasty seagull.

IMG_5678.JPG.f37f92cc24ff7ba8c17a2dc09254c360.JPG

I'm just floating here in a pool of my own urine waiting for some tourists to throw me some corn pops.

IMG_5675.JPG.2da689ac34d6c50e724db572921fd8d1.JPG

... you're wrong! The correct answer is corn pops.

IMG_5679.JPG.da7f2d1449cf5e725f74a34b018d98d5.JPG

These are the bears! Trivia question, what is a black bears primary source of food. If you said fruit, nuts, and meat ...

IMG_5716.JPG.a171dbb8aa5b7f5e5e3bef2ff0288d04.JPG

Not quite ready to make that climb though, let's see the bears first. No not those bears.

IMG_5669.JPG.d6175d8fd2e98a5e9383ec769abed22c.JPG

However Marineland with their fuzzy marketing includes the 150 foot hill they built it on. Tom thinks he's back home in Blackpool.

IMG_5665.JPG.9d323bd48debd1edbd02afab4eab1ec9.JPG

First thing we see is Sky Screamer, the parks S&S combo tower. Advertised as the tallest drop tower in the world.

Poor animals

Marineland looks like an odd park. Is everything really spread out? From the pictures that's how it looked.

Very spread out. The park is huge, but there's really not much there. It's a good 20+ minute walk back to Dragon Mountain.

Dragon Mountain is just a very odd coaster. It's kind of a fun ride, but it has ALOT of wasted track. You can't even see the bulk of the ride, and yet you can see everything that it really does.

Kind of

The lift hill is huge, the double helix is huge and not all that exciting, and there's a giant flat section behind the mountain that was supposed to be a replica of Niagara Falls.

Really, to sum the ride up it's two loops, with a bow tie.

I haven't been to Marinlend in years....and nothing has changed since...

Only difference I could notice was less Whales, and less deer.

The real problem with Marineland is the price though. At $38 that's more then a discounted pass to Canadas Wonderland.

i went there 2 years ago, it really is a huge place with nothing in it. Sky Screamer rocked and Dragon Mountain I thought was really neat, but seriously, they could contend for most coasters with all the land they have, but obviously they don't want it to be a typical amusement park, but a marine park

EW WHALES!!

Your stroller has no eyes, haha! I love it. I showed my version of that picture to a few people today and they all thought we were sitting on pigs. Pigs are not grey and they have ears!! And what are pigs doing at MARINEland?! I guess the Corn Pop eating bears aren't so marine either.

Jer and I will post our nearly identical pictures tomorrow, including the one of the deer eating your balls!

Marineland does sort of remind of Flamingoland--a zoo that just mutated into an amusement park (only with less theming, it seems).

That profile of one of those deer made it look a bit like a baby camel.

LOL that one is great.

I made sure to keep an eye on the one's in front of me. Though every once in awhile one of them would start nibbling on my shirt. Freaked the hell out of me.

Carnage I'm going to start calling you Canadian Glen!

You have a scray resemblence to a friend of mine named Glen, who abandoned me and our coaster trips for some true love crap. I mean, really, he needs to check his priorities! Pssh. Who needs a wife, when there are Intamins out there to ride!

The entrance to Dragon Mountain reminds me of Tusenfryd.

LOL at the attack of the killer deers, so awesome. Paul, you really do look frightened!

The shot of the four of you at Niagara Falls is really nice, even if Tom isn't particularly smiley. I LOVE Niagara Falls.

Nice shots Paul!

Plus my hand was covered in deer slime and dirt from them sucking the food out of my hand. Luckilly they didn't take any part of my hand off with the food.

I promptly washed my hands after leaving Deerschwitz.

Just wondering. Was it easy to see where you were going while trying to get to the station for Dragon Mountain? I remember my trip last year and it being so dark that I had to feel around to see where I was. Might have been the fact that it was early in the morning though and was really bright out.

Those people must be attracted to Tom's balls. Tom's whale does look like a pig, as the folds of his shorts look like ears.
