Photo TR: The Johnson's California Coasters Conquest

Postby Erik Johnson » Mon Mar 12, 2007 9:36 pm

Leanne and I finally got out to California to ride some coasters and visit some of those "touristy" California places. As always I like to share our adventures in the form of pictures and captions. It will probably take me some time to post all of them, but I will start with:

Part 1 - Legoland
Part 2 - Castle Park & Scandia
Part 3 - Six Flags Magic Mountain - First Visit!
Part 4 - Disneyland Resort Part 1
Part 5 - Disneyland Resort Part 2
Part 6 - Disneyland Resort Part 3
Part 7 - Disneyland Resort Part 4
Part 8 - Sightseeing Hollywood & the Warner Bros. Studio Tour
Part 9 - Las Vegas Baby!
Part 10 - Las Vegas Baby! Part 2
Part 11 - Hoover Dam!
Part 12 - Knott's Berry Farm
Part 13 - Back to Six Flags Magic Mountain - West Coast Bash!

Also a video of Legoland has been posted for you TPR members:

DSC00124.JPG
On our way to the airport, we encountered a nasty traffic jam on the Turnpike.
DSC00126.JPG
This can not be good.
DSC00128.JPG
The freaking Turnpike was closed.
DSC00131.JPG
They did reopen it, so we could see that it was on fire.

Warioware rules the airplane ride.

DSC00178.JPG
Having fun yet Casey?
DSC00182.JPG
If not, Soren made sure you did.
DSC00180.JPG
Hee hee hee.
DSC00181.JPG
Yeah, I know who is queen in my household.
DSC00187.JPG
We were told we had to try these.
DSC00189.JPG
They were pretty good, but I think they are overpriced.
DSC00190.JPG
Plus they are really, really, messy.
DSC00192.JPG
We found a Lego version of our cat.
DSC00194.JPG
Soren loves Harry Potter.
DSC00198.JPG

DSC00204.JPG
Every rider on the boats also has a water cannon.
DSC00207.JPG
Chuck was having way too much fun at Legoland.
DSC00209.JPG
Ummmm....yeah.
DSC00210.JPG
We got the Legoland factory backstage tour.
DSC00212.JPG
Everyone got to have a Lego plastic ball.
DSC00213.JPG
Some of them had some extra bits to them as well.
DSC00215.JPG
Oh yeah, they had cities made out of Legos here.
DSC00219.JPG
Legoland Vegas, coming soon.
DSC00216.JPG
They still have a ways to go.
DSC00223.JPG
Poor Florida area....:(
DSC00224.JPG
Though they had a Leogland version of the Gatornationals.
DSC00225.JPG
I now have my Disney/MGM and Legoland credits of the Chinese Theatre.

Looking good so far. The Windsor version of Legoland still had a Space Shuttle when we visited on the UK trip, though I've heard rumors of them adding a second park in the US.

DSC00244.JPG
Everyone loves these rides, especially when they are indoors.
DSC00245.JPG
But we were there for the credit.
DSC00251.JPG
Ready to ride a new credit?
DSC00248.JPG
Oh yeah, the back rows get soaked on this ride.
DSC00252.JPG
Right Casey?
DSC00253.JPG
Hee hee hee
DSC00249.JPG
Oh, these are the Caslte Park tickets. You need to buy these to ride.
DSC00232.JPG
The Castle Park map.
DSC00256.JPG
We then went over to the Scandia that has 2 coasters.
DSC00255.JPG
Its the Scandia Screamer!
DSC00257.JPG
I got my tickets, we were ready to ride.
DSC00258.JPG
First things first.
DSC00259.JPG
Yeah, it was a lot of fun.
DSC00261.JPG
The Scandia Screamer does have a few rules you must follow.
DSC00262.JPG
This coaster actually was a bit scary to ride.
DSC00264.JPG
Right Guy?

I've heard that they're looking at Kansas City of all places.

Nice TR, Erik. Hope you and Leanne had a nice visit to California.

Ok. onto our first visit to Six Flags California/Magic Mountain.
DSC00265.JPG
We finally made it out to SFMM.
DSC00267.JPG
See, here is the proof.
DSC00268.JPG
Yes, we will not be riding these today.
DSC00269.JPG
Never seen this picture before.
DSC00271.JPG
I wonder where we should start.
DSC00272.JPG
Ok, why not.
DSC00273.JPG
I really wished I had the opportunity to ride the original version.
DSC00274.JPG
Ok, what was the purpose of this tree?
200703040002.jpg
Maybe it is the new Batcave.
DSC00277.JPG
Oh yeah, we got this credit.
DSC00276.JPG
I think it was Soren's favorite coaster on the trip.
DSC00282.JPG
Yeah, everyone needs to have a Goliath picture taken.
DSC00286.JPG
Hey wait, we know these people.
DSC00287.JPG
Operations were quite good at SFMM that day.
DSC00289.JPG
Soren and Alessandra's very first Batman: The Ride credit.
DSC00293.JPG
More TPR people in front of Scream!
DSC00295.JPG
Freefall was open, so I had to ride.
DSC00296.JPG
I think everyone already knows that this is the very first Intamin drop tower.
DSC00297.JPG
I wonder if it is wise to wear a tie on this ride.
DSC00298.JPG
I hate standup coasters, but I actually enjoyed this one.
DSC00301.JPG
Bathroom sign theming is always cool.
DSC00302.JPG
Yeah, another credit for us.
DSC00304.JPG
Crazy queue antics.
DSC00308.JPG
Still two for two.
DSC00309.JPG
I wonder if it will be the next one to go.
DSC00310.JPG
We did not mind missing out on this credit.
DSC00315.JPG
We must go to the sky tower.
DSC00318.JPG
After a million stairs, we made it to the top.
DSC00319.JPG
Its really tall.
DSC00320.JPG
The elevator had some problems that day.
DSC00321.JPG
No smoking food or drinks.
DSC00322.JPG
Up the tower we go.
DSC00324.JPG
We waited until the following week to ride Tatsu.
DSC00330.JPG
Same with Viper and X.
DSC00327.JPG
Two missed credits in one picture.
DSC00332.JPG
Soren was happy to be back on the ground.
DSC00333.JPG
No Ninja credit that day.
DSC00338.JPG
So we walked over to Superman.
DSC00340.JPG
Leanne loves Superman coasters.
DSC00341.JPG
Though this was as close as we got to the ride that day.
200703040003.jpg
I totally blame these people.
200703040004.jpg
At least Leanne got to get another photo with Superman.
DSC00344.JPG
SuperSoren.
DSC00345.JPG
Best transportation ride ever.
DSC00346.JPG
Sure beats the stairs back down the mountain.
DSC00348.JPG
Its the only point that Tatsu's track touches the ground.
DSC00351.JPG
Yeah, we always try to ride these things.
DSC00350.JPG
All newly restored.
DSC00352.JPG
SFMM's crowds were very light.
DSC00355.JPG
We walked over to this place.
DSC00356.JPG
It only took us 5 minutes to get these processed.
DSC00358.JPG
Its a nice group photo with some animals.
DSC00359.JPG
What are they waiting for? There was hardly anoyone in the park.
DSC00360.JPG
I did not get to see The Demon fight Space Monkeys around Colossus today.
DSC00363.JPG
These things were insane. I think that the plastic melted.
