Okay, since this is the official custom scenery thread, I thought I'd post an update on what is happening in the world of cutom scenery.

Shyguy's Alpine Village Set 1 has been released!
Image
(No, I did not create that building.)This set was designed, like the other Shyguy sets, for Shyguy's park Wonder World, which is probably the best RCT3 park out there. The pack is super complicated, it's sort of an advanced version of the Iceact's Timber Frame Set, which I also recommend.

The link below not only provides a download, if you read the thread Shyguy shows to how to use it.

Download Here!

Also, here are two custom scenery sets in progress that look very promising.

The Ecclesiastical Theme
Image
(Again, I did not make that.)

This set will basicly be an add-on to the carribean adventure walls in RCT. Not much else to say, but I will make sure to download this when it comes out.

Screamworx Set

Remember the Dark Ride Set? Pumper (a.k.a. JCat) has returned to make another spooky Set: Screamworx. Expect awesome new objects, like transparent ghosts, spiderwebs, and lots more! I can't wait for this, And I also can't wait to see what Grod4L does with it in Avondale Manor, which has got to be the best RCT haunted house out there!

More Info Here!

Well, that's it, thanks for reading! Coasters4me, can you please change the title of the thread to say there's an update on custom scenery so people will know there's an update?

P.S. Should I keep doing these updates?

Go to "Program Files/Atari/RollerCoaster Tycoon 3/Style/Themed". SInce you can't go there when first saving the file, its easy to just put it somewhere and then cut and paste there. If you try to use it and it crashes your game, and says no svd, just delete the folder and put it back in. Havent a ton of people been asking this question???

This new update will bring you to the edge of your seats with it's awesomeness!

The first part of the Ecclesiastical Theme custom scenery pack has been released!

The vaulting set is finally uploaded and ready for download. My thanks to Sebar for agreeing to host the scenery files.

Installation

* Click on one of the links below to download the scenery.
* Open the zip file and drag the Style folder onto the "Roller Coaster Tycoon 3" directory that is usually found in C:\Program Files\Atari\.
* If you're using some fancy unzip program make sure that the option to preserve the directory heirarchy is enabled.

Usage

* The set is designed to blend with the Carribean Adventure scenery.
* The large arches have a diameter of 6 squares and are made up of lower, mid and upper pieces.
* The medium arches have a diameter of 3 squares and are made up of lower and upper pieces.
* The small arches have a diameter of 1.5 squares and are made up of lower and upper pieces positionable on a 1/4tile basis.

Download Sites

There are currently two download sites, choose one of the ones below.

* Sebar.com
* Rapidshare.de

Problems

If you're having problems the first thing to check is that the scenery is in the right place. In the Style/Themed/ directory there should be a Vaulting directory, this should contain two .ovl files and 4 directories which are: 'LargeArch, MediumArch, SmallArch and WallTest. Each directory should contain a number of .ovl files. If you're not seeing this directory structure then either your zip extraction utility either collapsed the directory structure or you extracted it to the wrong place.

Let me know of any issues with the scenery pieces and I'll try and look into them.

Suggestions for scenery pieces that fit in with the general theme that I am developing will always be gratefully recieved, although don't expect me to necessarily develop them and be prepared for a full and frank appraisal, including mathematical proofs where applicable, of why your suggestion won't necessarily work.

I've checked out all the pieces, and there seems to be a problem with two of them: the medium vault, lower, outer left small and the medium vault, lower, outer right small. I haven't taken a picture of the problem, but some of their sides look misaligned. I don't know whether it's my graphics card, but you can check them out yourself and see if anything is wrong with them.

You are correct, the endcaps and side sections on those two pieces are wrong. I'll get them fixed up and issue a patch sometime next week.

Make sure to get the patch when it comes out everybody!
