Day Ten - Part Two: Tokyo Disneyland Countdown Party

During the planning part of this trip we found out about this New Years Eve "Countdown Party." Basically, here is the deal. The park opens from 10am to 6pm on New Years Eve for normal operation, then re-opens again from 8pm to 2am for the Private Party, then re-opens yet AGAIN from 2am to 10pm (yes you read that correctly!)

So when we found out about this, we HAD to go! Luckily (thanks to Chris) we were able to get tickets via Yahoo Auctions that weren't much more expensive than the face value of the tickets.

Now, we were told in advance all these stories of the hundreds of thousands of people who would show up, and how we wouldn't get to ride anything because it was wall to wall people.

Hmm....well, yes, there were hundreds of thousands of people there, yes, but we got to do a LOT...

Anyway, onto the photos!

Yay! Back at Disney with the kick A$$ monorails!!!!

It's going to seem weird using this same ticket in the fastpass machines for the next 30 hours!
asia544.jpg
Yay! It's the countdown party!!!! (They even had one in my Animal Crossing town!)
asia545.jpg
Tonight's cast of chracters does in fact include Mark for all you stalkers out there! :D
asia546.jpg
This was the MASS amount of people waiting OUTSIDE the park! The awesomeness that is Japan got through that line in about 15 minutes!!!
asia543.jpg
What you are looking at is 100,000 Japanese camped out on Main Street waiting patiently for the fireworki\s!
asia548b.jpg
Time to start riding! Big Thunder first!
asia548c.jpg
It looks pretty kick A$$ at night.
asia548d.jpg
Hey look! It's more Mark for the Quaker fans!!!
asia549.jpg
I think half of Japan was working crowd control that night!
asia550.jpg
More people camped out, blankets and all! There were parades than ran for hours!
asia552.jpg
Yay! We even got on Pooh! Too bad this ride is SO AWESOME because I hate Pooh!!!
asia553.jpg
But it does have a Donkey so that makes it ok. ;)
asia555.jpg
Small World Holiday. Annoying? Yes. But at least they don't play the song over and over again!
asia556.jpg
Lines were actually pretty damn short duing the Countdown Party!
asia557.jpg
It's California's Space Mountain cira 1977.
asia559.jpg
"Yo stalkers, check me out. I'm the Quaker. For $500 you can get this picture autographed!"
asia560.jpg
After seeing the old version of the queue, I realize more and more had the new California version was hardly updated.
asia561.jpg
What was the point of even changing it????

Ok, we need to get back to Disney. I'll post more Tokyo Disney photos later!

AWESOME-O-SAURUS!!!

Is it me, or does the crowd control team look like astronauts?
-My butt has touched 112 roller coasters, how unfortunate.

Holy moly, that's a lot of people!

Looks like they found a few people with glowsticks at Tokyo Airport who needed some extra work apart from guiding airplanes!

Tokyo Disneyland at night looks amazing, and you got a NYE party to go with it!

Is that a giant golf ball?

Sounds like a much better New Years than I had. I may have to look into flying to Tokyo next time I'm faced with the decision to go to SoCal, Florida, Japan, or some local place at New Years.
All clear....

Dispatch, enjoy your ride.
