So I headed down to Cedar Point with my brother and sister-in-law. Typically every year I take advantage of the Canadian May long weekend being a week before the US's. This way I've got a holiday that I can use to travel, and the crowds aren't too busy.
We got the Breakers Express package which is dirt cheap at this time of the year. $170 for 2 nights stay, 2 one day passes, 2 starlight passes, and parking included.
Saturday evening was really good. Was nice and warm, and the crowds weren't too bad. lines averaged about 45 minutes to an hour and a bit. Not bad for a saturday. We managed to ride most of the major rides Sat night, including Millenium Force and Dragster. Dragster seemed to be running really good all day.
Sunday was pretty good. Though later in the afternoon it started to rain pretty good which pretty much ended the day. Dragster didn't really run after that due to the weather. Though it did launch once in the rain which was odd. I was standing over near Dragster hiding under some shelter trying to stay dry. At this point it was raining pretty hard. Then all of a sudden I hear the roar, and an empty dragster train comes flying past, and then obviously rolls back. I was kind of confused as to why they would launch an empty train while it was raining so hard.
However I have one huge pet peeve abour Cedar Point, which i hadn't really been affected by before. This is Cedar Points no loose article policy. I figured I'd bring in my backpack so that I could carry around my camcorder and digital camera. Turns out that they won't let you into line with a backback or loose items for any of the major rides. I always knew that was the case with MF/TTD, but not the rest of the rides.
I mean honestly I can understand rides like MF/TTD where you get off in a different place then where you board. But why the hell can't I bring a backpack into the line for Power Tower? It's just going to sit there until I return after the ride is open. Doesn't make sense for me to have to go get a $2 fluffy, fluffy bunny filled with medicine and goo after every ride. That meant that I had to split up from my bro/sister-in-law on Sunday when I wanted to go around getting my pictures, etc. I would have much rather hung out with them and just taken pictures as we walked around, like I do at normal parks.
I also saw multiple people getting turned away from the entrance at Magnum for this. And that was just for having a small stuffed animal or basketball. that's a great idea, pester people to play games to win small stuffed animals, then force them into putting into a paid fluffy, fluffy bunny filled with medicine and goo.
But overall it was a great weekend. But Cedar Point still surprises me from time to time. They may be voted best park year after year, but they're definetly the most anal park out there. For all the things they do geat, there's always some small thing that doesn't fit in.

Nice Report!
I'm surprised SF hasn't sued them yet to take down that sign! Although I did buy my "World's Only Flying Coaster" shirt at PGA after Batwing, X-Flight, and Air were all installed and running!

They probably have evil plans to shut down Kingda Ka...
FOREVER! THAT IS WHY THEY KEPT THAT SIGN UP!
On a better note, that Maxair ride looks HUGE! Is it really that big, or does it just look that way?

That pretty much is how big it is. At the peak of the swing it's about 140 feet in the air.
It's an awesome ride. Just as good as Delerium.

CP has never liked the fact that other coasters come close or beat theirs. Like when they built TTD they said it was the first coaster to pass 400 Ft. When asked about Superman: The Escape they said that they consider Superman to be a thrill ride not a coaster. Also I thought that sign outside of Top Thrill Dragster said "The World's Tallest and Fastest Roller Coaster" On the sign in the picture it only says fastest :?
I think that if you are going to call Top Thrill Dragster a coaster than you should call Superman one too.
Michael " I wouldn't be suprised if C.P says that TTD is taller than Kingda Ka from Sea Level thus making it taller" Thomas

^ If everything was calculated from sea level, would the tallest coaster in the US be the New Mexico Rattler or the Boomerang at SFEG?
Great Report Paul! Glad to hear that your overall visit went well.
I also noticed the loose article policy in full effect on my visit a couple of weeks ago. If I had thought about it, i would had warned you. While it might be an inconvenience, I wish that more parks would take such measures. It is another reason why CP has some of highest capacity rides out there.
Since they won't let you take it on anyway, why not stop you from getting into the station or the queue with it. Anyone who has waited for the rediculous dispatches at some parks can really appreciate this. The station for Apollo's Chariot immediately comes to mind. That ride is a total mess, and when you get off there are loose articles laying all over the place.
Personally, I like to take everything with me (why I love Disney so much), but if I can't, I hate to be held up by everyone else.
// The power tower thing is a bit much though. I mean ... what are those shelves for?
