Dear TPR Members,

I have noticed quite a few posts lately with the title of "Photo TR" that do not actually have any photos in them, but instead a link to where photos can be found.

While I for one don't mind people posting links to videos or photos as long as it's not done as 'spam', it is misleading to use the "Photo TR" title if there are no photos included with your Trip Report!

How can we fix this so it's not confusing? Simple! Here is the solution:

If you are going to link to photos on an external site, please post at least a few of the best photos in your post and then link saying "For even more photos click here..."

You might even find that will increase the hits you get to your photos by giving people a 'teaser.' Does that mean you post one or two photos? No, that would be obnoxious, but for example, Super Crack will post like 10 photos from his Photo Bucket, and then put a link to the rest. That is a good example of what I'm talking about.

You will notice that the "Photo TR's" that include photos seem to have the best responses and a higher number of views (for example DerekRX's Photo TR's.) So if you would like to have a good discussion regarding your TR, please add your photos in your post!

The "Photo TR" title was meant for people who take advantage of the feature TPR offers to be able to post your photos to our server.

If you are going to post a trip report and only link to photos on an external site, please do not use the "Photo TR" title.

I hope this makes sense and thanks for your understanding!

^ Oh yeah, that's a good point. I only archive Photo TR's that have photos uploaded to the server.

^ You have to resize them to 800x600 or less.

You can do this in MS Paint very quickly and easily.

I hate that one that links to one site, and his pictures are 2 sites away.

The ones that annoy me the most are the ones that announce "future" trip reports. The title will have PTR in it, but the message is just "I'm going to six flags next week, watch for the photos...".

I'm really glad to see something is being done about this. I almost brought this up last week, but I see I'm not the only one this bugs.

^ Ahh, yes, that bugs me too.

Basically the rule of thumb should be, if you use "Photo TR" in your title, have photos in your post!

I mean, I *LOVE* checking out people's Photos TRs, as I'm sure most other people do too, and I for one always get bummed out when I click on the Photo TR and DON'T see any photos!

Ok, I just want to clear something up because I got a PM from someone asking how they should now post about a future trip to a park and seeing if anyone wants to meet up.

It is totally FINE to post a message saying "Hey everyone, I'm going to be at such and such park and a certain day, does anyone want to go?" And even add it to the calendar if you want as an 'un-official TPR meet.'

What is NOT FINE is when someone uses the "Photo TR" title for a post that says "I'm going to such and such park and eventually there will be photos, but not until I get back..." That's lame, IMO.

So once again, just live by this simple rule:

"Only use the Photo TR title when there are photos in your message body!"

Any other type of post, for example a 'lets meet up post' is not a Photo TR, so that's totally fine!

Any questions!

one question bout tagging: how do you upload multible photos? I can only do one per post (which is why I use photobucket and post that way instead...)
