Not sure if this would be the place to post this, but it seemed like the most logical. Today I went to post in the Dumbest things ever said by the GP thread. While getting ready to write my response I got to thinking, "have I ever posted here before." Turns out that I had, luckily I found my message on page 3 or 4 and didn't have to flip around too much to find it. However that brings me to my idea, would it be possible to give posters an indication that they've already posted in a thread. I've had a few times where I have declined to comment in one of the sites longer threads simply because I couldn't remember (and didn't want to dig through 150 pages of conversation) if I had already posted my thoughts there. Not a big deal if this is difficult to do, but I just think it would make the boards a little easier to navigate.

It is posted in your profile and there are email alerts to topics, so that is true. However as far as being posted in your profile, I've got over 800 posts on here (which is very few compared to some) so it's not very efficient for me to dig back through and see if it is in there. As far as the email feature, I don't have it telling when people post in topics here. I post in enough topics that my inbox would be a mess if I chose to receive alerts for every response in every thread I post in.

If I am missing something obvious and there is already an easy way to check, please let me know.

This is a good idea, and I've had this happen a few times to me also. Going to post on a thread and not remembering if I'd posted on it or not.

Luckily, I haven't been here too long so I only have to go back a couple pages for certain threads and I find my post, but I can see this becoming a problem after a long time with a lot of posts.

Remember you can "display results as posts" so if you search, enter your name in the author field, and then add a couple words from your post, you should be able to narrow it down. Clicking on the link after the subject line of the post will take you directly to the post. Takes a minute but is better than digging through 80 pages

I know I've seen on other discussion board layouts a slightly different icon appears if you've posted in that thread previously. It actually does make it really easy to know on topics page if you've posted in it.

^Not that it matters any more (or ever really did) but I liked the pop up until I tried coming to TPR on my Blackberry. Man did they freak out my poor phone! I was happy to shut it down because for a moment I thought I was going to have to do a battery pull on it. My guess is however that very few people here ever check TPR on their phones.

^What is it that you don't like about the site on the iPhone?

Just because Robb and I got them about 2 months ago and have been pretty impressed with how the site looks and works on them. In fact my only complaint is that on the main index different boards are different size fonts. Robb and I have looked into this and can't figure out what's causing it!?!?!

Let us know what you're seeing or like or dislike!

Elissa, I was kidding, it comes through nicely on the iPhone.. Id love to see the chat boards work a little better, but I think thats due to using mobile safari on the iphone, because ive used a windows-mobile based unit and both the site/boards come through fine.

I think the pop ups would be more successful if they had a time delay on them, sort of like when you put your mouse over a windows icon for more than 2 seconds information pops up. I remember it was frustrating moving your mouse down a list of topics and having 25 boxes flickering at you, but I did like the idea of the boxes.

Well I can't comment on the iPhone, however if you're curious my biggest complaint about TPR on a Blackberry is that there is actually a text wrap problem that occurs. If I attempt to post something, my text will continue on in a straight line forever and will never wrap down to the next line. When I post the message it is correctly formatted, just a issue that makes posting difficult.

However before you put any thought into finding a fix for this problem, I should mention that I have a hunch that it isn't TPR but rather a group of forums. Most sites I post at work fine, however this site and Crackberry.com forums have the text wrap issue. Crackberry is running what I believe to be phpBB, so I think it is possible that the problem is in the type of board being used.

Anyway just some insight to an annoying problem.

^^ The pops were glitchy on Safari and Firefox, so I don't think we'll be seeing them come back. The delay was discussed, but after the glitchiness, Robb decided to scrap the whole thing.

^ We're on phpbb too, so that'd probably be why your having the same issue as crackberry.

The pop-ups were interesting until I hovered over a thread with embedded pictures in it.

The resulting preview popup was huge.

I'd imagine posts with youtube/coastertube videos in them would also trip it up.

^^^ Agreed with the Blackberry problems as I too was a previous Blackberry user. I would consider making more changes, however I feel that most phones including the Blackberry are going to improve with the next few revisions so I think I'd rather focus on what lies ahead and making changes for that, rather than making changes for technology that seems to be fading.

Doing an "iPhone App" is certainly on my "to do" list of things, but it's not a priority. It's kind of up there with "video podcast", "HD Videos" and "site membership" both which I've done some work towards, but don't have enough time to dedicate right now to make them a reality.

^^^^^^Robb, Id prefer to see a Vlog/Ustream-style cast before all else. Maybe something similar to what Chris Prillo does over on Ustream.tv, but themepark/gaming related.
