Universal Orlando Photo TR: Parks on a really rainy day

Postby Snowboard246 » Mon Jan 17, 2011 9:49 pm

This is my first trip report for TPR. I thought it was going to be just another report of a regular day like any other, but the rain made it an interesting day. A 90% chance rolled into Orlando Monday which isn't too much of a suprise for Florida. Even though it was raining I expected The Martin Luther King day to be a busy one. I spoke with a ride operator at Dragon Challenge and he said that Sunday they had about 22,000 people visit and today (monday) only about 10,000.

Good job posting the pictures Andy! It really was a GREAT day to visit Universal/IOA despite the rain because EVERYTHING was operating! Slightly painful and wet, but totally worth it.

Very nice that they kept attractions open and people were riding. Kind of a slap in the face to all the parks that close in a light drizzle!

Was Harry Potter empty too? That would be impressive! More so than an empty Rockit. Nice Pics looks like you managed to have a decent day with the rain.

Even though the rain might not have been enjoyable, I guess it scared away many of the crowds! Can't wait to come to the park in a couple weeks, and I hope to have the same amount of crowds you got. Ripsaw Falls is just sad to look at right now.

Thanks for posting!

YES! There wasn't a line for a single attraction. We walked into the castle without any crowd issues, and they weren't even using the outside queue (first time i've ever seen this). Instead we walked up a stair case that went straight into the office (future express pass line?). We skipped right through the Dark Arts room and straight to loading without ANY wait.

^Truly Impressive! I wish Rockit would get an express pass line too. It's already built! Use it! Even with rain I would love going to any park full of empty operating rides! Hoping for the same luck this Thursday night! (Even less reason for people to be there!)

I was shocked when I saw absolutely no line for Rock-it, when we rode it in the rain there was a line. I was especially surprised on MLK Day despite rain. Guess there is a first time for everything.

Nice! I guess there were no threats of lightning then! :) I do have to say, riding in the rain definitely gives you an added element of fun, although it can be quite painful. :?r I hope I have similar luck when I am there in July. Just not the rain! In 2009, I went Fourth of July week, and there were almost no lines for everything! I am hoping people are just away doing other things that week again! :D

It looks like you had fun on the wet, wet day!

Did you go on any water rides?
