Many of the East of Chicago locations around Cleveland/Youngstown have closed up the past few months, even newer one. Me thinks business is not going so well for them. It's a shame, cause it always did well and was a great place to get stuffed for cheap by CP. I mean, it was like $20 even for two people, with drinks. And the pizza is miles better than Ci-Ci's (which is really, really nasty). I don't have the best of standards when it comes to pizza (hard for me to find one that is really bad), but they prob take the cake for worst. I prefer many frozen pizzas over them, for sure.

The Peanut Butter and Jelly pizza they had is so awesome... My girlfriend usually ate at least 4 pieces of it each time we went. She is heartbroken over this news that it is closed.

Too bad they are putting in a DQ, how weird.

Holy crap you have a HUGE donkey!

Skycoastin Steve wrote:^Sandusky has Eats 'n Treats, which is leaps and bounds better than Dairy Queen. East of Chicago was always a great place to get food, certainly better than DQ.

You know I love me some Eats `n Treats but it is off the beaten path. Most tourists don't know about it. With Dairy Queen, its a name that everyone knows and they are familiar with the food. Like I said before, there is not already a Dairy Queen in town plus they can once again utilize the drive-through window. East never really used it so now with DQ when the dinning room is full, they can still make money at the window. This will probably equal late hours too, something EoC did not do a lot. Makes perfect sense to me why they went with DQ.

We were about a day late with the snow. :(

I don't get the DQ thing eather. The only reason I can think of, is that they want to try to keep more people in the park to spend money on food there. But with the slop they dish out, I would drive even further than that to eat.

R.I.P peanutbutter and jelly pizza...

East of Chicago was nearly always open after CP closed for a few hours... I drove past at 11:30 a few times with a full dining room. They stayed open late.

What would donkeys be like on the moon?

99er wrote:Maybe it is a smart decision. Now they don't have to compete with the very cheap Ci-Ci's Pizza Buffet and what they are adding is not currently in Sandusky. We used to have a Dairy Queen but it closed about 7 years ago. I'm sure the closure is not a snap decision, there is a reason. Maybe business was slow (perhaps due to Ci-Ci's), the lease was up and EoC didn't want to renew or Cedar Point just thought it was time for a change. Personally I would have liked to seen a 5 Guys go in there.

Where the heck is this CiCi's Pizza? They might be cheaper, but their pizza is junk.

EoC was always PACKED after 5 pm til midnight.

Who cares about CiCi's when Chet & Matt's is right down the road? Give me Chet & Matt's any day.

East Of Chicago > Chet and Matt's >>>>>>>>> Ci-Ci's

Love me some Taco Pizza from East of Chicago *drool*. Incredible! I really do like Chet and Matt's as well, just not as much as EOC... Ci-Ci's though, gag.

My guess would be that it is gone for good. Id wager that the 3-Point Challenge from the Demon Drop midway will be moved to where Chaos was.

East of Chicago Pizza >>>>>>>>>> CiCi's Pizza

CiCi's is on 250 right in front of Meijer. The majority of CP traffic will pass it. I heard nothing but bad things about CiCi's before it was built, no one liked the pizza at all. I finally tried it last month and it was not nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be, I actuality enjoyed their Buffalo chicken pizza. The pizza was not as good as EoC but then again, EoC is not that good when compared to the great local places we have here in Sandusky. I would actually rank it at the bottom of pizza buffets in Sandusky.

EoC might have had busy days but it was not consistent and only being busy part of the day in that area of town is a major problem. Dairy Queen, or any unique fast-food joint for that matter, in that location can service both tourists and locals. I am sure there was a reason though for the close, as I mentioned in my other post. I just think this decision makes some good sense (again I mentioned some in my other post). EoC was purely for tourists, not locals, hence why it was closed most of Sept. & Oct. and for good Nov. through April. So DQ has a chance to do something EoC never did; stay open all year. For those that live on that side of town, McDonalds is the only fast-food joint and drive-through. This opens up another choice without having to drive all the way down 250 (great for in the winter).

Several EOC's closed down recently here around Columbus... most shut down overnight without warning to customers or employees.

The one close to me shut down 2 or 3 years ago. It was dinosaur themed, kind of looked like a cheezy put put course inside. It was odd.
