Djurs Sommerland new for 2011 - Water Coaster

Postby Steffen_Dk » Sat Sep 18, 2010 6:02 am

Although we have not seen a news release there is confirmation that Djurs is getting a Water Coaster. Construction has started on the ride which is expected to be 27.5 meters high and 455 meters in length.

This is the first time in Denmark that a park had begun construction before the end of the park season.

Steffen - thank you for posting.

However, I did rewrite your post and upload you pictures to the TPR server.

Wow, thank you for showing us this! Is it a Mack Supersplash, perhaps?

Steffen, could you translate the writing on the .pdf for us? It get 'top' and 'splashzone' and that's about it.

The other words are not that interesting, but it says:

Ny vandrutschebane = new water roller coaster
Ophejs = lift hill.

Looks to me that the beginning will be a mirror image of Poseidon's, which is cool. I like that this is not the typical kind of a water coaster that only has a lift hill and a flat turn before the soaking.

I take it it's going to be a Mack Water Coaster?

What would donkeys be like on the moon?

^^ Yes
I think we need an update on this ride. The ride has been named Skatteøen (Treasure Island) and is themed to fit with the new pirate area of the park (where the great Piraten is located). The park has billed it as Europe's biggest water coaster at 28m tall and with a speed of 70km/h (not sure why they don't count Europa Park's Atlantica SuperSplash as an water coaster).
A danish coaster enthusiast (not sure if he's a member of this forum) has posted some artist renderings and some layout pictures on his facebook page.

I think we can asume the ride will feature a themed indoor section

This park keeps getting better and better.
