^ Once you actually visit the park, trust me you'll be impressed. In '08 I really wasn't expecting too much but I was absolutely blown away!

My thoughts exactly, Dave.

Europa is one of my favorite parks. They've really got the whole package - in terms of rides, theming, atmosphere, food, hotels, etc. Definitely a highlight of the '08 Europe trip. Can't wait to go back this summer and check out Blue Fire - it looks amazing.

This is soooo interesting to read. Cause before building Blue Fire, I felt the park was totally incomplete...and if people were "blown away" before building Island...well I hardly understand.

Of course I liked it, but there were years I didn`t even go there because of the missing thrill-factor. I was too frustrated because of Silver Star`s trims...the coaster that could be, let`s say SHOULD be soooo good and thrilling.

I prefered Phantasialand, for example, Holiday Park, even Hansa-Park...

But I guess the Europa-Park package is now hard to beat...now that even Silver Star is running so good, or let`s say BETTER than before.

I cannot say how curious I am how people will like and vote the park now that Blue Fire is added...

GeorgeT

P.S. Silver Star is running definitively better now, especially in the first half...but the velocity still varys.

While some rides this year were , let`s say "just" as good as the better/best ones last year...some of my late afternoon rides were forceful as hell...I was really blow away by the potential that coaster has but never showed the years before...

P.S.S. Some effects were added to the haunted house...and I would say those are very good...an improvemend, definitively !

Maybe not evil but he gave that fine german wink in that video.

^^

Before Blue Fire I never had the feeling something was missing but then again I only been to a Blue Fireless Europarapark once.

Evil Creature #8 actually fills my heart with fear!

Cannot wait to get back here this summer though, especially after seeing this great report.

Actually he almost grabbed my camera right after I took the picture.

I know MANY people saying that Europa Park made a huge jump up on their list after Blue Fire opened. It depends wether someone is more into "thrill" that into theming or family rides...I just think that Europa is much more "complete" now...

Thursday april 15 - Walygator

I planned this park because of the "new" B&M coaster called Monster. After I heard that the ride wouldn't be completed on our visit I thought there is still a woodie and some other random stuff like a topple tower and drop/launchtower and not to forget the haunted house. But how wrong could I be. The place is a dump.... maybe that is a bit to hard but it wasn't a nice park.

Not finished B&M, a not working topple tower and S&S tower and some serious lack of maintenance. The woodie is the worst one I've been on. The front running car was closed because they filled the car up to the restraints with sandbags and there were also sandbags on the floor of the rest of the train but even the extra weight didn't give a smooth ride.

But I tried to take some good pictures anyway....

Believe it or not but there is also a Vekoma coaster.

IMG_0001_16.jpg.6a52baa7bd6817cd4c50c454e12e70eb.jpg

and it did run quite smooth.

IMG_0001_14.jpg.6baee9a97066913f503a48a4e3800e1a.jpg

for a Vekoma that is.

There is a 1.90 m height limit on this coaster but they didn't noticed us the first time so I got my credit.

IMG_0001_76.jpg.ce95566a9b664f4f280fb6d443f42cd2.jpg

But because it runned so smooth for a Vekoma we wanted to check it out for a second run just to be sure that it really isn't rough.

  • 3 weeks later...

Friday april 16 - Parc Asterix France

This is a park that I had drive by a lot in the years that I went to Disneyland but never visited because it was closed.

I had free admission with my Walibi World 3 Park Pass so that was awesome too.

It's very well themed and there are a lot of awesome rides, there are even so many awesome rides that I missed a credit.

You can blame it on bad preparation... and yes it was bad preparation.

But anyway the main reason for this parc visit was there wooden coaster Tonnere de Zeus. Once the number one coaster (or two) of the world and I can understand why it was so high up. Our first ride of the day was awesome it was early morning and it rode kinda smooth it was fast throughout the whole track. Later that day it was bone crushing rough even so rough that we couldn't ride it multiple times in a row.

Pictures....

Great update Hans.

Part Asterix is indeed very well themed. Too bad the park is most of the time packed with crowds. But it seems you were lucky during your visit.

The antique cars must be the best themed antique cars ride in the world.

Did you do the logflume ? That ride is my favorite logflume ride so far.

Awesome pictures and trip report(s).

I can't believe Walygator and Parc Asterix owned by the same company as there is a huge difference in terms of quality. I heard bad things about Walygator, but I didn't believe it much as all the photos I saw made it look decent, although I knew Anaconda was bad. Your report did a good job of showing how bad it really is, and it actually looks a lot like the Fuji-Q of France.

Parc Asterix looks great on the other hand, and you did a good job of showing how good of a park it is.

Parc Asterix looks amazing. I've heard of it but never seen pictures. The theming is imense, it's everywhere. The detail of the theming just makes it and I hope to visit someday.

Thanks for posting Hans.
