christianscoasters
Hello there! 1st stop: Vidalia, Georgia. 2nd: Wild Adventures! 3rd: Savannah, Georgia. 4th: Washington D.C. 5th: New York City 6th: Syracuse, NY. 7th: Colombus, Ohio. So over my Christmas break, we went on a vacation, “we” being myself, my mom, and one of her best friends. The Friday that I got off of break, we left for Georgia. We drove there. That’s a veeeeeeeeeeeeery long drive! It took us about 26 hours total. We were in Georgia for one week visiting my mom’s friends family. While there, we went to Wild Adventures in Valdosta, and went to eat at Paula Deen’s restaurant, The Lady and Sons, which was reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally good! Next Saturday, we went to D.C. We drove past Kings Dominion. I305 was visible from the interstate, which with all the trees, you could see nothing but the Eiffel tower and I305. It is HUGE. In D.C., we saw all the sites. It was a lot of fun. No, the Obamas weren’t there. They were in Hawaii. I love photography, so this was a ton of fun for me! The next day, we were going to go to New York City leaving at 6 a.m., but I woke up at about 4 a.m. with the sorest throat every very achy, and one of the worst fevers my mom said that I’ve had. She said it was the warmest she’s ever felt me be. We thought it was strep because I get that a lot, but it wasn’t. At 4 a.m., no doctor’s office is open, so we had to go to the ER. Ugh. It was laryngitis, but we got some medication and we were on our way. We ended up leaving D.C. at about 10 a.m. We stayed in Jersey City and took the train to NYC. The first thing we did was walk around a bit, then went to TKTS. TKTS is a thingymajig in Times Square which gives huge discounts to Broadway shows, day-of only. The discount is usually 50%. The show we wanted to most see was Shrek: The Musical. I was hoping and praying we could see it. We waited over an HOUR in line in the BELOW freezing New York cold to hopefully get tickets to *A* show. We got to the front of the line and got the last THREE OF FOUR tickets!!! I was so happy! We didn’t get to sit together, but that was fine. Why? 2nd, 3rd, and 5th row seats. HOW FREAKING AMAZING IS THAT??? For those of you who don’t know, Shrek had its last run on Broadway a couple Sundays ago, January 3rd. This was one of the big reasons I wanted to see it. A lot of people in the Wichita school district are going on a trip to NYC that happens every 2 years. About 7 of the shows they planned on seeing have closed. Shrek being one of them. So some people were mad at me that I got to see it. SHREK WAS AMAZING. That’s all I have to say. Also, my dream is to be a Broadway performer. Music theater is my passion. The next day in NYC was very windy, but we got to see what we wanted and do some shopping. We stayed in Syracuse for a few days. Nothing to report there. We stayed in Colombus, Ohio for the night on our way home. My mom has friends there. We are going back this summer and I’ll be going to Kings Island. Possibly Cedar Point. Anyways, onto what you’re here to see, Wild Adventures!!! This is the theme park where Zombieland was filmed. We got to the park about 10 minutes before opening. There were maybe 20 cars in the parking lot or so?? Hardly ANYBODY. Like most big parks, they take your picture when you enter. They also do it throughout the park, even in the loading stations for some rides! It was really great! But anyways, hardly anyone was there. All day. The place was freaking deserted. Boomerang: This was our first ride of the day. We first rode in the front. Not butter smooth, but it was still smooth enough. Then we rode in the back, mind you that we are the only people on this ride, let alone that entire section of the park. Back was smooth as well. I can’t ride Boomerangs a lot because the high g-forces give me a major headache. I was a little disappointed at how close the Tiger exhibit was to the Boomerang. It was RIGHT next to it. I’m sure the tigers get annoyed a lot. Cheetah: Closed for that one million dollar renovation. WOW is that thing torn up! Sections of track are missing in places. I’ll have some pictures. I really wanted to ride it, but oh well. Gold Rush: This coaster, I learned a couple of days ago, was removed to make way for the 3 new rides for 2010. Space Shot: Closed Fiesta Express: They let us ride This is a Zamperla mini-mouse. My mom actually got scared on this. Oh my gosh. That was embarrassing, BUT we were the only ones in that whole half of the park, so no one saw! Hangman: My second SLC. Nice! We rode in the front because there was no wait, obviously. SMOOTH!!! Yes, a smooth SLC!!! So much fun! We wanted to ride again, but they made us go all the way around through the exit and back through the entrance. I know this is policy, but really? There’s no one even in this area of the park! We’re the only ones here! Oh well. Later, they let us stay on. Anyways, because no one was there, I took the opportunity to take some pictures of the wheels and what not. The next time, we rode in the back. It wasn’t as smooth. It was still good though. Front seat, FTW! Swamp Thing (Vekoma Junior suspended): This thing goes directly over an alligator exhibit. LIVE alligator. Poor guy I’m sure things have dropped on him before. This thing was a little rough. You go around twice. It was alright. Nothing special, but good for a family coaster! Bug Out: Fun little family coaster! Ant Farm Express: Fun kiddie coaster. Actually, pretty intense for such a small ride! I honestly don’t think this place is going to last. It is a great place, it really is, but there’s no one there! It’s several miles off of the interstate in literally the middle of nowhere. It just snuck up on us. It was kind of strange, actually. Location is awful for business. They had a Safari Train, which was just like any other mini train you’d find at a theme park, but it goes throughout their animal section, which you can only see IF you go on the train. It also goes right by Cheetah, and depending on which route they choose, it can also go under and around Cheetah. This ride was the only one we waited for. Since they only had one train operating, that explains the wait. It was only like 5 minutes though. There is a swampy path thingy that’s really cool! It’s just a lot of pathway right above swamp land and you get to see lots of animals. It’s cool. The bird house was cool. Lorikeets come and land on your shoulder. Yay! If you’re passing through, visit this park! If crowds are that minimal, you can get through it all in less than an hour. There really isn’t anything in the area for vacations, but I believe it’s not very far from Orlando. Go to this place. It’s neat! ADMIN EDIT: Just changed "PHOTO TR:" to "Photo TR:". Nothing major, so keep up the good work! This poor gator is right under the Swamp Thing. good themeing, but I really don't feel it should be there. I'm sure things have dropped on him/her before. Through the swamp-walk we go. This was towards the middle of the walk. This is how a lot of Georgia is. What a ca-YOOT-ee Pretty wittle birdeeeee He was wondering what my camera was. I was scared he was gonna peck at it. I was very close. Mom got over it. Then I was the one freaking out. Dan was doing just fine. Mom started coming around. Tia, the totally awesome bird-lady!!! she was really cool and we talked to her for a while. Yay for employees who enjoy their job and are fun to talk to! She looks like she's trying to smile. She was actually mouthing "Get that f!@#$n camera off of me" She's trying not to be scared. They also have lorikeets/parakeets (Idk what they're called) As you can see, mom isn't too happy about this. He's soooooo pretty! After Swamp Thing, we decided to go look at some animals. We passed by this. The worker was being followed by this little guy. She says he follows her everywhere. People looked way too scared on this ride. At the top of the lift hill is a puppy and a van. Also some candy. Wheel assemblies. Much different than its brother, SLC. CLOSE-UP!!! OMG!!! NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN THIS BEFORE!!! T3CHn1C@L $tUff Mom and Dan did a lot of this all day: Waiting on me to take pictures. Kinda artsy-fartsy? One of the longest waits of the day. Here they come! Yay? "Enter at your own risk" ... Well, this IS a vekoma. Swamp Thing! Boomerang from across the lake. WHERE IS EVERYBODY? Yay for kiddie rides The Safari Bus was closed, but we wanted to ride. Here's a construction picture for ya. Well, somewhat. Wow. Closed for the season. Let's go ride the swings, I guess. Themeing! ... This ride actually scared my mom. NOT LYING. Ooooh! This looks fun! Dammit, people. You know, this would have been a GREAT picture had there have been riders in the front! Well, there's a train now, but no people. Under-belly Or ... Lift hill porn? Dan and my madre Where is a train when you need it? Looks like an alligator. *Unzips pants* Somewhat close-up shot of the track. Because we were the only people in this section of the park (which means there was nobody else on the ride) I decided to take some pictures of the train. This used to be an artsy shot ... Until the trees moved in. This is right next to the Hangman. I wanted to ride, but it was closed. Walk-on! Hello there, Mr.Sun! ... and Hangman The top of an SLC. Ah, there it is! Just like the Sidewinder that was at Wild West World. This ride will make you siick. *Sigh* I believe this is one of the 3 new rides they are getting this year. I was sad about not being able to ride Cheetah. The tiger exhibit is way too close to the Boomerang. Kinda made me sad. Actually, all the exhibits are too close to rides. Aww!!! Pretty kitty. *Pets chin* Ah, an SLC. So pretty. A LAKE!!! and stuff across it ... Alright, guys! Let's stop playing hide-and-seek :] *Orgasm noise* Tri-support! Let's take a closer look ... Boomerangs are very small rides. Fun though I spy a Boomerang Woot for Vekoma roller skaters! So many cloaking devices! Our adventure begins We're now in the park. He's a nice little eating plaza. I like how it's not on the ground that way people don't come running through you and knock your stuff off. There's also a big dining area inside. Lord Farquaad says: A PRETTY PONY!!! Don't worry, this whole Shrek phenomenon ties in with the trip. Umm ... I'm sure more people will show up soon Wait a second. THIS IS THE ENTRANCE? Where is everybody? Uhhhh ... I'm sure the entrance is just far away, hence why no one is in this area of the entrance plaza. Ahh. Nice, small, pretty signage. The ferris wheel says we are at Wild Adventures. If you do not agree, a big, green ogre will come and attack you. My mom and her bestie, Dan. Um, where is everyone? The park opens in 10 minutes. We're here :] Close parking spot. christianscoasters
Part 2 Does anyone notice how the ties are NOT perpendicular to the track like they should be? ... I'm running out of captions to write. Seriously. Where are the humans? DO NOT RIDE THIS. Some more construction. Bug Out and a pretty big flag. It was probably made in China. Such a pretty coaster. BTW, they actually have alligators in this lake. I thought they were kidding, but they aren't. Notice how this entire section of track was TAKEN OUT? Wow. The track isn't even there! Yeahhhh Right next to animal exhibits. Ugh. Judging by this scene, It's probably safe to say that Cheetah won't be opening soon. Swamp Thing from across the lake. I like the supports for this coaster as well. Look at that plant! It totally distracts you from the awesomeness in the background! YAY! I love the support structure for the Boomerangs. Reminds me of Joe Jonas. One of my favorite shots! Oh. There it is. Dammit, where is a TRAIN? The "Under-Boomerang" Oooh!!! *Unzips pants farther* Close-up! Derek, are you reading this? This is right by the entrance to Boomerang. I was sad it was closed. I've heard such good things about it. Guess we're going back to Boomerang. ThEmEiNg!!! Mom holding a Ball Python. I was too afraid :/ HERE'S a better artsy shot. Cheetah from a distance. I want to ride you Yay for attempted artsy-shots Mom and I on the Insect-O-Slide The quene is actually right in the middle of the ride. That guy is looking at me like he's gonna hurt me. It's either my 4th or 5th Wild Mouse. Undershot of the lift hill assemblies. It's amazing how this can lift an entire coaster train. It might look the track is nasty, but it's just the shadows from a tree. Wild Adventures gets you right next to the rides. We've been here for hours. Why is no one here? Well, on the bright side, there's a Christmas tree! Bug Out!!! Where what's-his-face killed the zombies. The carousel. Bastard. Awww!!! A cute little squirrel. Let's get a closer look ... BOOMERANG!!! THROUGH THE SWAMP THING THAT WAS THROUGH THE TREES!!! YAY! SWAMP THING!!! ThRoUgH tHe TrEeS!!! Are we still in a Theme Park? "Dose" is supposed to be "Does" ... Haha Um, I just wanted a decent picture. I wasn't expecting bestiality. GET AWAY FROM THE FENCE. Die, you little ----- I HATE EMU'S. When I walked right beside this, I screamed because I didn't know it was there. I feel bad for the white one. I'm sure he sticks out a bunch AWWW!!! Grr!!! I'm a big black bear!!! A big, black bug bit a big, black bear and the big, black bear bled blood Kinda artsy? Woot? My camera didn't know how to focus on this, Lol. Fun swamp-walk! Baby gator, baby gator! christianscoasters
Part 3 You may not be able to see it, but through the trees is in fact, Intimidator305 :] The observation tower. SOUTH OF THE BORDER!!! With a coaster that doesn't operate :/ Bye-Bye Wild Adventures! Time to hit the road. Wait what's that ahead? Well, I guess there's a few people? I would like to post this picture again in case none of you saw. Yes, that is really how many cars were in the parking lot. Mom is in the lower-right hand corner. She looks so small compared to the coaster. Don't look at me in that tone of voice. Bug Out is actually taller than the Ferris Wheel. Starbucks? YES!!! This place has a REAL starbucks inside. Me lubberz this shot. Well, there's some people. DID I MENTION THIS PLACE WAS *PACKED*? Mr. Sun and I are going to fight later. I'm sure I'll win. THROUGH THE TREES It's not that tall, but it does tower over a lot. I LOVE this support (: Hangman station. If you can't tell, we came back and rode Hangman. :/ Mom skipping out on the SLC. We knew we definitely weren't in Kansas! That's the pentagon! We drove by it thinking about how a plane ran into it. It was kind of scary thinking about it. The building is HUGE. There it is. Medusa1861
awww, I miss NYC. I was just there for the New Jersey Devils Vs. New York Rangers game. It always feels like home there. I find it funny that 27 degrees is noteworthy as being cold for you. But i guess being in Kansas that is drastic.
christianscoasters
^In Kansas, we get into negative temperatures sometimes. Below freezing is still cold though! The past week, temperatures were so cold, the wind chill was -25 ... Some school's were canceled :O

ebl
^ I'm guessing that you can ride that Ferris wheel? That'd be cool! Also, when I saw that Candyland display, I thought about a dark ride themed to Candyland. Whoever designs that could have a lot of fun with it. Your picture of Dan with the Washington Monument behind him was one of my favorites from your report. That really looked nice. I hope someday to get to Washington DC. jynx242
Wow - great pictures! You guys were all over the place. If you went to the Lady and Sons - you were less than a mile from my house! Love me some good southern fried butter! Thanks for the TR - I really enjoyed the photos, and haven't been to NYC or DC in a long time so you really took me back. D. christianscoasters
^HAHAHAHAHA ... Not much of an honor Lol. No one ever visits this place. Considering how in-the-middle-of-nowhere it is, I'm not surprised We were literally driving on a country road to get there, and BAM it just pops up. And thank you
Airtime&Gravity
Nice photos and report of Wild Adventures. While not a great park, it still loks like it'd be a nice place to visit. Also, how does Wild Adventures even stay open? I know it is Janurary, but whenever I see a trip report of the place, which is rare, the park is empty. Although, I don't see why it gets all the criticism that it does as it looks like a nice park. Sure they'll take Vekoma over Intamin, but for a fairly new park, it has an impresive ride selection. Nice pictures of NYC and Washington DC too.
gisco
I think there are no people at Wild Adventure because the Zombie's ate them! Nice pics of DC too. I will be there in March. Hopefully it will be a little warmer by then.
christianscoasters
It is a nice, medium-sized park IDK how they stay open either. Hardly anyone is there! I don't see how they can afford the Cheetah Renovation or the 3 new rides.
