^^ Sorry. What I meant was, that photo was the weirder-ness. Not that it got weirder from there. Because, as you say, that would be impossible.

Oh boy winterfest. I've been to plenty of those in my 19 years of life. I always liked the patriot display because it was so um... patriotic.

This B&M donkey is so smooth!

The Pigeon Forge Trolley Tour of Lights runs Monday through Friday evenings, November through January, and costs $5.00 per person.
01P6298781.JPG
As mentioned earlier, Patriot Park doubles as the “Fun Time” Trolley Center.
02PC070835.JPG
So, of course, this is where you have to go to partake of the Tour of Lights.
03PC070826.JPG
We have our tickets!
04IMGP9718.JPG
And I'm wedged into my seat. (These tours are very popular. So the trolleys will almost always be full.)
05IMGP9716.JPG
Our narrator (Winterfest sweatshirt) and driver (Christmas tree hat).
10PC141268.JPG
Okay, we’re off. Let’s get oriented, shall we?
11PC141277.JPG
The tour also provides views of many of the town’s Christmas-decorated attractions, both tasteful...
12PC141280.JPG
...and less tasteful.
13PC141288.JPG
As well as a private home or two.
14P6298734b.jpg
But the main focus is the city-built light displays.
15P7169885.JPG
The "train station" recently got toppled by high winds...but here’s what it used to look like.
16P7139868.JPG
This is Pigeon Forge’s largest light display. But only now does it occur to me that there’s almost no sense of scale in this photo. So…you see those sticks in the background? They’re not bushes; they’re the tops of trees on the hillside behind.

Okay, how about this? Each one of those light-trees is about twice as tall as you are.
17PC100845.jpg
For the very first Winterfest, Pigeon Forge had exactly one display, which looked very much like this one.
20PC100866.JPG
And now, let’s swing over to Teaster Lane, also know (during Winterfest) as...
22PC100860b.jpg
...Mother Goose's Fantasy Lane.
24PC100856.JPG
Imagine if you’d never heard any nursery rhymes before, and you were driving down the street and saw this.

I think I would turn around and go back home.
PC311704.jpg
It doesn't show up well here, but a little mouse runs up and down the clock.
PC311699.jpg
That's it for Fantasy Lane, and for the Trolley Tour of Lights. Pretty snazzy, eh?

It's a shame they don't do the tours on the weekends... </sarcasm> Hope it's good weather this Sunday!!! Love all the updates. I never have the time or the money to do all the quirky things in Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg but it's nice to live them vicariously through your updates. Thank you Erik and Misty!!

Oh, don't worry--it got weirder.
<---That was a great line!

Cool to see the lights again this year. Pigeon Forge will definitely be a vacaiton spot for me for years to come. Just a crazy place with lots to do and I really like the feel and friendliness of it all.

Thank you for posting this!

^^ Looks like I'm a go for the super-unofficial Dollywood meet-up on Sunday, December 20th. Misty's probably not going to be able to make it, though.

But the current weather forecast is for a high of 40-degrees that day, which puts coaster operation at "iffy."

Distinct from the other light displays (in that these are taken down at the end of December, whereas the others stay up until March) are The 12 Days of Christmas.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me...

Twelve drummers drumming,

Eleven pipers piping,

Ten lords a-leaping,

Nine ladies dancing,
08PC100890.jpg
Eight maids a-milking,
07PC141347.jpg
Seven swans a-swimming,
06PC100881.jpg
Six geese a-laying,
05PC100871.jpg
FIVE GOLDEN ringy dingy ding-a-ling dings,
04PC141345.JPG
Four calling birds,
03PC141342.jpg
Three French hens,
02PC141336.jpg
Two turtle doves,

And a partridge in a pear tree!
