Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess
So are they finally getting rid of the place this winter? Good thing I got my credits! Yes, they are ending their lease term. http://rcdb.com/4618.htm Here you can see their rides being put on sale (I hope Playland buys that Windstorm coaster from them as it would suck for it to be scrapped): http://www.italintl.com/Fun-Forest-Amusement-Park-Rides.php All the SDC Hurricane/Windstorm coasters feel about the same. Hurricane at SCBB is the exact same as this one.
larrygator
I decided to go to the Pacific Northwest at this time as Canada's largest fair (The Pacific Northwest Exposition) would be at Playland simultaneously. The PNE doubles the number of attractions, brings in fair entertainment and also dozens of food stands. Before I post the ride photos from Playland and PNE I want to show you the food options and my dilemma. I took $20 Canadian out of the ATM, but now I had to decide what to eat. My apologies for blurry photos. I'm still getting used to the camera and the aroma from all the food stalls was making me dizzy. I didn't even post all the food options! Feel free to make guesses as to how I spent the $20. Did I survive on $20 or did I need to get more money? Sushi More Pizza More BBQ Curry in a Hurry "REAL" Ice Cream, not the fake stuff. Scones More Italian Beer and Wine Garden More BBQ Chinese Pierogies Indian or BBQ Salmon Pizza and Poutine Vietnamese Around the world: Mexican, German Sausage and Greek EXTREME Canadian Kettle Corn Funnel Cakes and Lemonade Hot Dogs, which coincidentally were being served right outside of the live Superdog show. More BBQ Orange Julius and Donuts BBQ Chips/Fries and Ice Cream Corn, Garlic Shrimp on the Barbie, Pub Grub Japanese Burgers
Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess
That food at The Fair is really good. Although abit overpriced in my opinion, atleast I get a discount (because I'm staff). Can't wait to see the ride pictures as I love seeing TR's of my home park. larrygator
Wow. Tough crowd to entertain on TPR, I thought the food PTR would be more popular, I guess Robb really does have limited internet access in Asia to not comment on food. Anyway I had: a Pulled Pork Sandwich from the Masque BBQ, 2 large Strawberry drinks from Orange Julius and 2 ears of roasted Corn on the Cob for $20 Canadian. A very fair price indeed. Now on to the final stop on my trip, Playland and the Pacific Northwest Exposition. While Playland itself did not astound me, Coaster certainly did. After riding over 150 wooden I think this will be my new #3 (behind Phoenix at Knoebels and Hellcat at Timber Falls) when I complete Mitch's poll. The minimal restraints and just plain sick airtime had me tearing up with pleasure after riding. Lines were a little long for Coaster (average of 20-30 minutes) since I went during the PNE, but it was certainly worth it two experience all the additional flat rides and fair food. For those not in the know, each year the PNE is held at Playland (late August to mid September) and a single ticket allows for all rides (except upcharges) to be enjoyed. Anyway, here is the last batch of pictues from my the Pacific Northwest. and I had already spent my last $5 on a second Strawberry Frosty from Orange Julius. The Haunted Mansion looked awesome, but I didn't have time Just like Disney Are you not entertained? BOOBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 What's that I see? Yo Busta, how did you get dragged into this craphole of an attraction Only $5, are you sure you don't want a ride? Spin Out was their other ultra extense flat ride No thanks, I'll pass again including the blurry fungus exhibit The great thing about fairs and expositions: farm exhibits TPR approved Tilt in a tent None were crazier than this one. I almost had a bowel movement on this one. Lots of intense flats are brought in for the PNE An upcharge, for this? No thanks, I'll pass. and much younger than Jeff Johnson Did you know this coaster is awesome? The amazing chariot that will carry you to airtime nirvana You are about to encounter Red Dawn awesomeness This looks like the right place Minimal line at the border crossing and no trouble getting through Oh Canada! You know the routine by now
Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess
The S&S tower normally (as in not during Fair time) is not an upcharge attraction. During The Fair it runs a different (longer and better) program though. Normally it's shoot up, drop down, ride over. But during the fair it's shoot up, drop down, shoot up almost to the top, slowly lift all the way to the top, stop and enjoy the view, sudden drop, ride over. If you ever ride Coaster on the left side of the train, you get to squish the person next to you when you slide around on those crazy-ass turns! You definately got to love Coaster alright! larrygator
^I learned that on my first ride. As a single rider I jumped in an extra seat with a gravy boat enthusiast and got crushed. Not as bad as riding coasters in Scandinavia with Vekoma Erik!
Corkscrew
It's nice to see all the parks around here get some attention, but I find it strange how you managed to make Wild Waves and Enchanted Forest look so ghetto. Both are actually quite nice parks, and Enchanted Forest has some of the best theming outside Disney. Regardless, great trip reports!
larrygator
^My apologies if my presentation of Enchanted Forest came off as sub par. I really liked the place and thought the theming was excellent. If I had the pictures I took I would have been able to portray a better story. The only thing that worried me about Enchanted Forest was the Ice Mountain Bobsleds structure, but I liked the ride when I wasn't worrying about it collapsing underneath me. I make no apologies for the way I portrayed Wild Waves. Maybe the staff was just going through the motions at the end of the season, but I was not impessed with the ride quality or operations. robbalvey
I really need to get back to the PNE. That's one coaster that has been in my "Should I put it back in my top ten list since I haven't ridden it in about 15 years" list for a while now. I remember the coaster being flat out *amazing* but I really don't think I've ridden it since like 1996 or '98 so it's hard for me to keep it in my top coaster list when I haven't been on it recently. Need to go back... Thanks for posting the pictures Larry! --Robb
larrygator
Robb - Coaster is so worth it, go back! Everyone should go ride it! It's that good, better than El Toro! It will be in my top 3 when I complete Mitch's Poll this year.
