That's awesome. You totally need a life--but still, thanks. ;)

what kind of camera do you use?

I have an Olympus Stylus Tough 6000, and Misty has a Pentax Optio W10. I definitely take more photos, but a lot of her pictures are in here, too.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Great stuff as always. What's the weather like up there right now?

So, we're thinking of hitting the area this Christmas. Are teh big coasters at Dollywood open for the Christmas event? How cold does it have to get for them to close?

I'm also hoping to ski then, maybe late December. Will Ober Gatlinburg, or the skiing a few hours away, have snow then?

Ober Gatlinburg usually opens, weather permitting, around mid December. They always try to be open for the holiday period, as they can charge an arm and leg for three slopes being open!

If you want some good quality southern skiing info, visit skisoutheast.com or skinorthcarolina.com.

All the coasters run as long as it's above freezing.

Should--even if they have to make it themselves. Not much of a skier, though, so I might not really be the one to answer that.

Mind you that unlike Hillbilly Golf, this track just circles the perimiter of the golf course.

Perhaps you are referring to Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure Golf?

It's actually a chain. I'm pretty sure I've even played one somewhere else. (Myrtle Beach, perhaps.)
01P4244655.jpg
It's located between Pigeon Forge traffic lights 4 & 5. And, um, it opens at 9:30am.
10P4204413.JPG
The entrance is actually around to the side.
14P4204414.JPG
The club house, with the entrance to the train ride behind it.
20P4204419.JPG
But first, get your photo taken! (They'll be available for purchase by the time you're finished golfing.)
40P4204619.JPG
Yes, at Professor Hacker's, you take a train ride up to the top (at no additional fee) and then putt your way back down!
41P4204476.JPG
Shall we...take the tunnel?
47P4204445.JPG
There are two 18-hole courses: Diamond and Gold.
48P4204446.JPG
The only real difference is scenery, and even then they're fairly similar. But fear not! Just for you, we played both!
49P4204458.JPG
Wait...the palace dungeon is in a volcano? Why, yes it is.
50P4204542.JPG
Not sure how long he's been here, but his hat has held up remarkably well.
51P4204607.JPG
No, Misty! Be careful!
55IMGP8342.JPG
Looks like I've got problems of my own.
57P4204544.JPG
No, thanks. I recycle mine.
65P4204574.JPG
Only this ancient Aztec pyramid stands between you and a Texas Steakhouse.
67P4204469.JPG
That would actually be pretty cool if there were bats that swooped down at you while you were golfing. (Or is that just me?)
68P4204472.JPG
Me gettin' all artsy.
86P4204492.JPG
Professor Hacker's features lots of big flashy scenery.
87P4204501.JPG
There are some interesting holes.
88P4204581.JPG
Although, I have no idea what's going on with this one.
90P4204626.JPG
I bet that dude's gonna find it hard to feed his Jesus addiction down here in the jungle.
93P4204633.JPG
Heading back down...
95P4204523.JPG
...to the ship!
96P4204516.JPG
Almost finished.
97P4204452.JPG
They do something a little bit different here. Instead of possibly getting a free game on the 18th or 19th hole, you have to turn in your scorecard in order to find out if you've won a free game or not.
98P4204575.JPG
This turned out to have been the mystery hole.
99P4204634.JPG
I'm awesome. Yet, as Misty is trying to show here, as awesome as I am, I still didn't win.

Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure Golf is a perfectly serviceable mini golf course. The holes are decent enough, and the train ride adds interest. Still, for me, it comes up just a bit short in the charm department. Maybe it's because it's a chain. But while it is fun, I would recommend going for one of the more unique mini golf establishments in the area instead.

Um. Diamond is the handicap accessible course and the Gold course has many stairs, but sure we can say similar.

I like Professor Hackers its fun, but not my favorite either. I think the best part of that day was me winning twice. :br I'm just saying.

Never been much of a fair guy. But Smisty wanted to go, and I thought it might be a fun addition to this thread, so....

Sevier County Fair 2009
01IMGP8396.jpg
Held at the Sevier County Fairgrounds, in Sevierville.
07P4294676.jpg
It didn't open until 5:00pm. (Not sure if that's normal or not for fairs, to be honest.)
15P4294698.JPG
Kind of a "midway of crap."
20P4294813.jpg
Yup, we're in Tennessee.
30P4294683.JPG
This is the sort of thing they do at fairs, right?
32P4294684.JPG
Lamest science fair project ever, or awesomest?
35P4294681.jpg
Not the bees!
40P4294686.JPG
Well...isn't that something.
41P4294696.JPG
A room full of old stuff. (Honestly, I thought my fair captions would be more hilarious, too.)
44P4294809.JPG
There was a "cutest dog" contest the day we were there.
45P4294799.JPG
Mmmm, zoo food....
46P4294802.JPG
'Ello, gov'ner.
48P4294820.JPG
A couple of fine heifers.
52IMGP8413.JPG
Okay, onto the rides.
55IMGP8398.JPG
Smisty was in black & white heaven.
57P4294710.JPG
There is nothing about this ride that isn't weird.
58P4294784.JPG
There were two or three kiddy coasters.
60P4294780.jpg
...and a couple of fun houses.
61P4294715.jpg
Not really sure why the pirate ship is called "Sea Ray," but I got a nice picture of its sign.
62P4294781.JPG
Arrrg! A sea ray has eaten me leg!
66IMGP8421.JPG
There is nothing on the planet better than dunking a clown.
68P4294767.JPG
I like the way this photo of the evil zipper turned out.
75P4294747.jpg
There were, like, ten Ferris Wheels at this fair.
77P4294735.JPG
Interesting food and drink stand.
78P4294759.JPG
I have no idea who these people are. I'm pretty sure they lived, though.
79P4294737.JPG
I do know who these people are. (And they're awesome.)
80P4294731.JPG
Anyone who counts fair kiddie coasters is just sad.
81P4294721.JPG
Kiddie "coaster" #3.
82IMGP8415.JPG
Dizzy Dragons, presented by Angry Abdul.
85IMGP8410.JPG
I think I did a really good job with my black and white photos that I took. Don't you, Smisty?
P4294673.jpg
Yes, there you have it: The 2009 Sevier County Fair. It was very fair-like.

Had a terriffic lobster dinner there with the folks.

Admittedly, I count fair kiddie coasters and am sad. Hey, I'll take it where I can get it. ;)

Anyway, back to yet another great set of updates. Enjoyed this round and much appreciated as always. =)
