Awesome TR! MagiQuest warms my nerdy little heart, and I hope one day to play it! Can I just say that the picture of the wand display got me more excited than I should admit...not in a phallic sense...I just want a wand that interacts with things! Next Tennessee trip, I'll definitely be demanding a trip to MagiQuest.

And...that didn't help any.

Thanks for the kind words, though! (Even if you are a wand fetishist. )

Hey Erik, just catching up with your new adventures, awesome stuff! Thanks for putting this together. Would definitely be cool checking out Gatlenburg one day after seeing your feedback and hearing a lot about it. I had no idea how random that area of Tennessee was until checking out Pigeon Forge.

Cheers,

J

Awesome update! I have passed this place a couple of times on my last two visits... and thought... hmmmmm... no!? LOL.

Anyhoo... I was just in the Smokey's this weekend. Met my Ohio peeps up there for a few nights. I hadn't been to G-burg in a while and I did the Mysterious Mansion which I always loved doing.... and Ripley's Haunted Adventure which was way better than the last time I went through. There were quite a bit of changes.

I actually saw a quick flash of Smisty doing her Elvette duty at the Christmas Place. We were just shopping away and there she was flying through with a handful of crap! (not poo, just Christmas Place merch)

I would have said hello, but that would have been just weird I guess. Actually she disappeared into the racks of Holiday cheer too fast to even see her ever again.

That was my evil twin, Tsmisty. I'm more likely to be seen dancing and singing Christmas music.

^ and ^^

Oh cool....

So the Evil Twin and Smisty BOTH bite you? Lucky hetero male, you! :0)

Sadly I have been in a relationship TOO long to get bitten by a "loved" one. The only bitting I get is from my baby girl "Flossie." She is the Feline Daughter of Satan! :0)

I swear, I've not played mini-golf in a long time, but every time I read your updates, you make me want to get out and play! Of course, I'm sure there aren't any places in the Houston area that are nearly as unique as the places you post. With each of your updates, I truly wish we could have spent more time in the area when we visited Dollywood.

MagiQuest looked like it was interesting and fun!

I always enjoy the updates and look forward to your next post.

^ Thanks, I appreciate that.

In an unincorporated area of Sevierville, far from the main drag, lies Forbidden Caverns. Just head straight to the intersection of Whywouldanybodywanttobethere and Blowing Cave Road.

I've been to the Smokies many times in my life, but you always seem to find something that I always forget about. Keep up the great work. You'll never run out of things to report on. When something closes, something else opens in its place.

I love how the caverns really try hard in promoting the beauty of a cavern's natural habitat, not only can you turn the cavern into a wishing well, you can see how the original settlers made moonshine...in a cavern.

Well, to be fair, apparently some moonshiners did have a still in the cave during Prohibition.

I do agree, though. The worst culprit in these attractions is usually lighting. "Does this rock look more exciting in green light? How about yellow? Rainbow?"

Awesome! I have been wanting to visit Forbidden Caverns for awhile, but never get around to it. I guess the fact that they're forbidden makes me want to go even more. I don't know if it falls into the coverage area of this TR, but The Lost Sea in Sweetwater is kind of cool. Its basically the same thing as this but with the added bonus of riding in a boat for a few minutes.

Sevier County certainly does not want for pancake houses. And while I can't yet say that I've tried all of them, I have been to quite a few. And my favorite so far is Red Rooster.

Nothing like farm equipment to make me hungry!

Wait, actually that does kind of work.

The Red Rooster Pancake House. You should go there.

They also have chocolate eclair pancakes.

Moon Pie Pancakes?!!? Where have they been all my life? Damn, I've got to go get a plane ticket right now! I know school starts tomorrow, but they'll just have to understand that there are more important things than reporting for the new school year...and Moon Pie pancakes is one of those things! Upon my return, once I explain, I'm sure my administrator will understand.

Is that where Calico Mine Ride's black lit caverns get their inspiration from? Cause I thought them stalagtites and stalagmites always looked all multicolored

Scattered along the strip throughout Pigeon Forge are Go-Cart/Laser Tag/Arcade type fun centers. Most are fairly interchangeable, but at least Lazerport has ice cream and mini golf!

84P4063944.JPG.2058501eee138c2020a489b3ca48e8c3.JPG

And that's it for Lazerport. It's amusing enough--especially if you like murals.

Note the different spelling of Lazerport. Note also that I got 410 at Skee-ball. I believe that's a personal best.

One of those "build your own space coaster" deals. But I love this one's name: Virtual Simulator.

55IMGP8006.JPG.594d691861f041a2ee8d511ff5be9d99.JPG

Yes! Two credits!

50IMGP8009.JPG.01c00eb33506c8957919af277218bc9c.JPG

And now for the arcade. Seriously, now that I'm an adult (allegedly), I'll sometimes just spring for $20 worth of tokens and go nuts for a while.

40IMGP8001.JPG.b91704862b9ea1014046524f8b5a74ef.JPG

Not ghetto at all. Just throw your putters in the trash.

That seems bad.

More alien stuff.

30P4063930.JPG.974b2dbc7ac383e9ab3fbd648bc4b656.JPG

Though it looks pretty nice here, the course has seen better days. Graffiti, especially, is a problem.

28IMGP7952.jpg.2828ca2292fb4e99a2374613c1e03973.jpg

The low, slanted ceiling is where the go-cart track passes overhead. While the doorway in the back connects to the wrong end of hole #10--leading me to believe that this was once two 9-hole courses instead of one 18-hole course.

26IMGP7966.JPG.5e017d7ff1ae445f5e3c4a6865bde363.JPG

I think that yellow rock thing was once a fountain or something. No water in it now, though.

Misty's mom and sister are now famous on the internet.

Alien bondage. You can't beat that.

20P2260101.JPG.a75d728f33792f0be54c4f63e0cccee3.JPG

The mini golf is themed to aliens and spacemen and such.

14P4063934.JPG.35b5cbb09bf5b1126d826ce2a357151e.JPG

Lazerport does have some really cool murals. I'll give them that.

12P4063932.JPG.8297aeafefd53be94ae4abf93ff890c1.JPG

Back inside is laser tag and mini golf.

10P4063949.JPG.6dcea8961f94baa0f877797622e00cec.JPG

A bit ghetto 'round the back end, though. (And no, that go-cart does not have an umbrella sticking out of it.)

08P4063935.JPG.bc1e6e42e76d04b5c244bae974b4dbee.JPG

Looks interesting enough.

06P4063952.jpg.d60abeba168a05bcd9315e7ec26d57ae.jpg

Yes, it's a roller coaster "style" go cart track.

05P4063933.JPG.3c903b4a43d2f6572766a89a75d057b4.JPG

Now that that's out of the way, let's go check out the go-carts.

04IMGP7931.jpg.b63d7592ba1b8424683435d05ebdcdf0.jpg

I believe I shall. (It's Edy's by the way. That's the same thing as Dryer's for you folks on the west coast.)

Ice cream, you say?

I find it surprising that you didn't get any photos of people actually playing mini golf. I would like to say how awesome their prizes are though. I love my 300 point ball.

You may have gotten more tickets then me and you may have won the bowling ball challenge...but my mom kicked your butt at mini golf.

It has been a while, but the last time I visited "Lazerport" it was pretty awesome. I haven't rode go-carts in a while but some of my ATL peeps invited me down to Dixieland and admission included golf, bumper boats, and go carts! It was a really cool little place! I forgot how fun go-carts could be when you didn't to pay 10 bucks to ride them.

My parents, sis and bro-in-law are heading your way this weekend! I will def tell them to be on the lookout for Smisty's evil twin at The Christmas Place!!! Also my parents usually make a point to eat at the Red Rooster.... they always ate there when it was the Apple Inn or whatever.
