1. I love the kid interviewers who shove the microphones in people's faces like it was a weapon.

2. I love the onride POV from the third or fourth row. If only there was a seat on the train where you could get an unobstructed view of the track... hmmm...

Great stuff as always, Shane. There's not much Jet Scream stuff out there on the web. It makes me want to hurt someone with a blunt object that Six Flags sent Jet Scream off to Houston while SFoMA got Ninja. "Sorry, kids... we're getting rid of the Schwarzkopf. But we're getting a Vekoma with more loops! Why are you frowning?!?"

Thanks everyone for your reading and interest in this thread. Your comments and opinions area much valued and I am thrilled that I have hit the TOP 10 position of TPR's most viewed threads.

I had no idea of what this would become when I first posted those early park magazine ads back on November 23, 2007. I just want to make everyone aware of PAGE 1 of this thread. It has a detailed, up to date table of content of everything posted and direct links to those threads. Check it out if you have missed anything here in Shane's Amusement Attic.

Thanks!!!!!

Kid's World: Atom Smasher or the "Cinerama Coasta"

This is probably one of my favorite episodes, not due to the coaster, but purely for Franki Romanelli and her thick New York accent. The Rolla Coasta was located at Rockaway's Playland from 1938 to 1985.

So when I began to post these episodes from Kid's World I wanted to give a little history on the program so I did a some research on the internet and could not come up with anything, I did however find Franki on facebook. She has turned out to be quite a looker. Like any New Yorker she now lives in Florida and she made sure to tell me that she lost that heavy New York accent.

Kid's World rides The Beast

I am sorry to say that this is the final installment of the Kid's World series. I hope everyone has enjoyed it. We will continue on for the next 7 days with our "Welcome TPR TV" super series...Theme Parks a Go-Go. A show from the E! that star such celebrities as the guy from Baywatch, the guy from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, the girl from Facts of Life and a bunch of other "has beens"

Now sit back and enjoy The Beast as the Barbara Walters of Kid's World procures the coveted interview with Beast creator, Mr. Charles Dinn.

Sorry for the delay in presenting Theme Parks a Go-Go. there seems to be a little glitch with downloading to TPR TV today. (or maybe it is my internet...either way something is not working) I hope to have it posted later today. If not we will have to go with the youtube version. Either way It will be on here tonight around 6:00 (mountain time) So please check back then.

Theme Parks a Go-Go Part 1

Yes what a stupid name for a show, but the show is actually pretty good and features a host of washed out stars desperate for attention. It is a 7-part series.

While this next mini-series is not as good as Kid's World (IMO) there still is some great footage, including a whole segment on Drachen Fire.

Tune in everyday to see each exciting part.

-Shane

Kings Dominion

Lets go back several years and several owners to a time when Kings Dominion was a fairly new park. It had a starring role in the film "Roller Coaster" and featured key attractions as King Kobra, Lost World, Rebel Yell and the Apple Turnover. Today's park still has some of its original feel but with several owners and different directions, the park has lost some of it's original charm, anyone remember the singing mushrooms?

I hope this update brings back some of those GREAT memories of Kings Dominion - the early years.

Here are two clips from the movie "Roller Coaster" that show the park back in the 70's

From the Grizzly description:

Trees not directly in the coaster's path will be left standing, heightening the suspense and surprise of the ride.

A lesson quickly forgotten by the time The Hurler was introduced.

I'm glad the Brady Bunch and Rollercoaster captured both Kings Island and Kings Dominion before the charm was completely stripped away.
