I think anyone who is able to ride BTR in the front seat for more than 1 ride cycle in a row is amazing. Last spring I got a front row batman seat, and can honestly say that was the most forceful coaster ever.

I remember doing the commercial shoot for Batman at Magic Mountain. We had to ride over and over and over again. It did take a lot out of you. There were only a few of us standing at the end of that shoot.

Lol, not at all surprised, I went on it one time in the front and that was the second most force I've ever felt. The craziest force was on Tatsu's pretzel loop in the back row, I nearly blacked out.

Wow! I watched Theme-Parks-a-Go-Go when it originally aired many, many years ago. Never thought I'd get to see it again. Amazing...I'm starting to wonder what don't you have in that wonderful closet of yours! Keep the good stuff coming!

Kings Dominion

Postby montezooma » Tue Jan 27, 2009 10:30 am

Kings Dominion

Lets go back several years and several owners to a time when Kings Dominion was a fairly new park. It had a starring role in the film "Roller Coaster" and featured key attractions as King Kobra, Lost World, Rebel Yell and the Apple Turnover. Today's park still has some of its original feel but with several owners and different directions, the park has lost some of it's original charm, anyone remember the singing mushrooms?

I hope this update brings back some of those GREAT memories of Kings Dominion - the early years.

Here are two clips from the movie "Roller Coaster" that show the park back in the 70's

There they are...the singing mushrooms. When I worked for Paramount I tried to track them down and see if they were stored away somewhere. unfortunately they are no more :(

Was this ride called the flying dutchman? Kings Island had the same ride long ago

sky rides were a staple attraction of all parks back in the 70's. They are a rarity now

I am not a fan of the remodeled International street. The new landscaping really hides the fountains and takes away the "street" feel

With all the flumes being removed lately, I wonder how much longer this one will be around

The New Attraction: Avalanche. I am not sure how it fits into the safari section of the park? I am guessing there wasn't a lot of creative input that went into this attraction

From the Grizzly description:

Trees not directly in the coaster's path will be left standing, heightening the suspense and surprise of the ride.

A lesson quickly forgotten by the time The Hurler was introduced.

I'm glad the Brady Bunch and Rollercoaster captured both Kings Island and Kings Dominion before the charm was completely stripped away.

I forgot about the Brady Bunch episode. Isn't that were Jan loses Mikes plans for the amusement park or something like that? Boy Jan was always getting into trouble.
