See, I hear a LOT of people say that, I see it get voted #1 in the Amusement Today Golden Tickets, and while I too think that Knoebel's has the best "amusement park" food, is it really BETTER than the food you get at Epcot Center? Better than Mythos? Better than the food you find in Downtown Disney? What about those insane skillets at Dollywood and Silver Dollar City?

Robb, you know where WE have been. And from place WE have been it's the best.

That wasn't directed at you, it was directed at my frustration with this in general. Which is why I said "...a lot of people..." blah, blah, blah..."Amusement Today" blah, blah, blah.... I know you haven't been to a lot of those places, but I'm willing to bet the people who vote in the AT poll have been!

Again, it's all subjective opinions, no one is right or wrong, it just frustrates me, that's all.

Wow, I'm so glad to hear you all really enjoyed GAdv (my homepark). It's really good to hear the opinions of people who aren't jaded regulars or people who just want to be negative and never see anything good at a Six Flags park.

Since you missed out on it while you were there, I'll post a pic of some turtle lovin' (that's Fred on top of Wilma):

I will say though that Ashland reminded me of San Francisco with the houses on the hill and really close together. I thought it was cool.

Yeah, if you wanted to see Centralia, you had to take 54 and turn onto 61 at the first meetup with 54 (61 meets up with 54 twice, that's why it gets confusing). But you were pretty close to Centralia in Ashland because if I am correct, Ashland is in future danger if they don't get everyone out of centralia so they can stop that underground mine fire. But since the remaining people of centralia are staying put, the government can't do anything but sit and wait for the worse to come. There are diehards in Centralia, one of my co-workers at Stop & Shop said he stopped there and talked to a resident and the guy said he has enough guns to scare off any police

Gosh, you guys really think my Great Adventure is comparable to Fiesta Texas? Either Fiesta has gotten a lot worse since my last visit in 1999, or you're due for another eye exam :D

Maybe its just the fact that my first Six Flags was Great Adventure, but that's pretty much the standard I have for a Six Flags park. While its improved greatly over the past year compared especially to the way it was in the late 80s and early 90s, I still think its the epitome of Six Flags. In a ranking scale, I'd say here's my Six Flags ranks:

1. Six Flags Great America
2. Six Flags Fiesta Texas
3. Six Flags Over Texas
4. Six Flags Over Georgia
5. Six Flags Great Adventure
6. Six Flags New England
7. Six Flags Magic Mountain
8. Six Flags Astroworld
9. Six Flags America

Other lesser Six Flags parks don't count (SFEG, SFKK)

Yeah, Golden Kingdom looks great, but its really tiny with crowded walkways. Hopefully the new area and hotel look just as good but with wider paths. A lot of the coasters are good, and food service has improved, but closed rides (a lot of them have been taken out; Pendulum, Evolution, Jump, Polyp, Chaos) still lacking food service, overall park service are still what I consider "typical Six Flags". Now take Great Adventures coasters and stick them in Fiesta's setting, and we've got an amazing park.
All clear....

Dispatch, enjoy your ride.

All the food we ate was incredible. Knoebels has the best food of any park I have been to and it is not expensive. The pizza was probably the best pizza I have eaten ever.

I'm just curious, what all did you guys eat at the park? From what I got out of the Photo TR (great, BTW) it looks like you only had french fries, perogies, and pizza?

Yeah, I agree you can't beat the price for any of the food at Knoebels, but if all you had was these three things (I don't even think I've ever tried the Fries from the Phoenix Junction) just wait until you go back! I have a program on my Palm Pilot reminding me of all the different foods at Knoebels I have to be sure to eat on each of my visits. Usually I'll forget 1 thing and be really disappointed until the next time I go.

All I wanted was a fricken baked potato.....
All clear....

Dispatch, enjoy your ride.

Ok, so everyone needs to remember that Gregg and I have been on a diet for over a year. SO any real food we ate tasted extra good to me. At Knoebels you are right Derek, we had fries, perogies and pizza. That was a lot of food for me though, a lot of carbs I should say. BUT it was the best food I have personally had at any park. I know we haven't been many places but for the places we HAVE been, it ranks #1 for me.

Great pics and an awesome TR! I really enjoyed reading and viewing it. Don't ever appologize for how many pictures you post. :D They definately help with the story you tell. It reminds me of our trip out there a couple years ago.

Glad you had a great time and thanks for the hard work you put into the TR and sharing everything.

That was all we had Derek, but it was all so good. There was so much more that we wanted to try but everything we had was so filling.

We really are looking forward to going back and not only riding the rides but trying the food we didn't get a chance to try. We were also trying not to have too much sugar. Carbs in bread form is one thing for Kristi, but in Sugar form, well, she would have been in the potty all day. Not fun. ;)

Back to the SF thing, I can see your point. That's kind of the same way I look at SFMM. I remember what it USED to be like and I see what it's like now. When people say how much they like the park I'm like WTF?!?!?

It seems the opposite has happened with SFGADV. It used to be crap but has been improving. SFMM on the other hand used to be nice (I thought) and went to REALLY crappy a few years ago to just semi-crap now. It is getting better and like I said, I REALLY hope with this new coaster going in we get some of that Golden Kingdom style of area going on.

SFMM could be a great park, they have great rides. Well, some of them.

I would rank the Six Flags Parks I have been to like this:

Six Flags Great Adventure
Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Six Flags Over Texas
Six Flags Over Georgia
Six Flags Magic Mountain
Six Flags AstroWorld
Six Flags Marine World

The top 4 are VERY close and if SFFT would get a new coaster, and it is good then it would probably go back to #1.

OK, now we're talking about one of my favorite topics: FOOD!

I think Knoebel's has awesome food. It's good and it's cheap, when compared to pretty much any other park. But I don't think you can compare it to "sit down" places in parks like Mythos or the various places in Epcot. In my mind, it's sort of like comparing fast food to a more upscale restaurant. If you're looking at sit down/full service restaurants, well then, Knoebel's offerings don't come close to something like Mythos or California Grill. But I think the experience is different enough to make the distinction between the two.

I can understand your frustration with the Golden Ticket awards. I personally found the results to be embarrasing this year, and really wonder if anyone voting on the damn things has ever left Ohio! I'm not sure how to change the results, other than perhaps allowing more people to vote in them...
