Awesome TR! It was freakin' hilarious too.
It probably made me laugh about a million and five times.
The attraction seems like it was good for Disneyland.
Plus, Nemo's pretty cool!

I wish they would make Street Fighter Donkey.

It's not for the claustrophobic, is it?

Great report, Jahan!

great TR Jahan, I was there last night around 7, we waited a little over 2 hours for Nemo, but i had a couple movies on my ipod so the time flew by.

I'm really glad the subs are back, and I agree with Jahan, the ride doesn't give you that OMG that was awesome feeling, i certainly wouldn't wait more than an hour for it now. And having also ridden the epcot version, a lot of stuff is the same. That being said though, it's a nice ride, very immersive, one of the only few rides out there that actually put you into the action. Kids are gonna go crazy over it, adults...not so much. Still looking forward to getting a few more rides in after summer

This is probably going to be an un-popular opinion, but am I the only person who really has no interest in this ride? Or I should say no interest in rushing down there to wait any significant amount of time in line for it?

Hear me out as to my reasons why....

- First off, it's a "dark ride." And like, yeah, it's cool that you're in a submarine and all, but still, take that away from the equation and it's still a "dark ride." And not even a dark ride on the caliber of Indy, Tokyo's Pooh, Spider-Man, or DarKastle, it's more like Peter Pan with a slightly better show...and I wouldn't wait 15 minutes for Peter Pan!

- It's a refurb of a 50 year old ride! Maybe it's just that I wasn't a big fan of the subs before, but all I remember is that it took FOREVER to get on the damn things, and then when you finally got on them, the novelty of being "in the sub" wore off after like 2 minutes, and then you're just stuck in a smelly, claustrophobic ride vehicle watching a show that wasn't that interesting. It seems to me that a lot of people are hyping it up over the "nostalgic" factor of a closed ride that's now re-opened, but no one seems to be really that "Wowed" by it when they get off it, and it makes me think "Did some of these people forget that the subs really weren't THAT cool to begin with?" I mean, there is a REASON why it closed in the first place.

- It's basically an expanded version of Epcot's ride....and you can get on that ride in like 5 minutes! I've been on Epcot's ride three times now, and the longest I waited was 15 or 20 minutes and that was right when it opened! Every other time you just walk right on the damn thing.

- It's WAAAAAY over-hyped. I remember someone telling me about a year ago "This is going to be Disneyland's next big E-Ticket" and I remember thinking "Someone is going to be VERY disappointed when it opens." I'm not sure what people think it's going to be when they go into it, but it seems like a LOT of people can't wait to get down and ride it, and I've heard nothing but "Meh...it's ok...it's fun for kids....I wouldn't wait again for it...." reviews. I mean, the TV commercial is two kids in a bathtub! What did people they THINK they were going to get with a ride that's advertised with two kids in a bathtub? The next Indy? Tower? I just think people are going into it thinking it IS going to be the "next big E-Ticket."

I know I'll get down and ride it eventually, when I don't have to wait more than 15 minutes for it, but there is nothing about this ride that's making me have to rush down and get on it!

IMO, Nemo is nothing more than a re-hash of a 50 year old attraction over-hyped to cover up for the fact that Disneyland hasn't really added anything "new" to their park since Indy opened in 1995.

Disneyland is the only park in the world that I can think of that can re-open or re-themed old attractions that people forgot weren't that good to begin with and convince people it's the greatest thing since frozen Coke and people will line up for 6 hours for. I just don't get it.

So to end my little rant, I ask again, "Am I the ONLY person who feels this way?"

I thought Nemo at Epcot could have been better, to be honest. But I remember the original Living Seas being booooooring (though the hydrolators were awesome!)

I have nostalgic memories of the sub ride at WDW but never rode the DL version... but you're right, if it's like the Epcot ride but "in a sub" it's probably not as exciting as they've hyped it.

btw, this:

I saw a maintenance ladder lying on the ground. At the end of the ride, the final Indy appeared to have his neck-skin peeling out from beneath his shirt. REFURBISH INDIANA JONES ADVENTURE NOW!

I was there last thursday and all I saw was a latter next to some of the lighting equipment. All of the effects were working, including the rats whic h I hadn't seen work properly for a very long time.

But I really do think that the attraction needs some enhancements. It was built back in 94 and had many great break through effects/technology developments that hold up very well today. But there are other areas that are lacking. I think with some enhancements, the ride could easily be brought up to par, or made even better then the Disney Seas version of the attraction (which for the record is only better because it was built 7 years after the original, so don't bash the original. It's still a great attraction which only has a few minor problems, imo). But even still the original is definately better then a lot of the more modern attractions we see today.

No, I totally agree with you. Like you said, the Epcot version is OK if it's a walk on. I cannot imagine waiting for the sub version for 30 minutes, let alone 3 or 4 hours. I'm sort of "meh" about the CA Disney parks anyway, and while I'm sure this will be very popular, I does strike me as being very overhyped.
