dubaidave
Here's my recent trip to Thailand. I had been before but never done all the parks. This is pretty much in Chronological order. First up is Pattaya. Now Pattaya gets a bad rap as a sex tourism destination, which it still is, but they are trying to attract a broader spectrum of people. I am sure everyone knows about the Big Tower with the strange SBNO launched coaster, but you will have to wait to see that. First up we visited Ripley's, They have the whole top floor of a shopping centre and, besides the usual Believe It Or Not museum, they have 3 other world class attractions. A big thank you must go to the Manager of Ripley's for showing us around and allowing me to photograph places that are not normally allowed. Also a huge thanks must go to my travelling companion, David, for putting up with me being so geeky about these attractions and, also, appearing in most of the photos. Finally sorry to the guy with the red shirt who seemed to be following us round the attractions, and hence, was also in a lot of photos. Enjoy Thanks to the staff I know its blurry, but it gives you some idea of the colours involved. the bubble room In this room you had to push one of the square in order to open the door. This place really was stunning. Yay, it`s me. The flash doesn't really do this place justice. All the rooms had different lighting and special effects in them. You are in Pitch black and have to feel your way out of some rooms. Did I say thank you to David for being in all my pics? And representing. Here is the random guy in red. Then head in to the maze. ....and socks You wear white gloves... I had read about this a little, but it was far better than I had imagined. First up was the infinity maze. There are 4 attractions here. Haunted adventure is their latest attraction. And very good it was too. Ripley`s can easily be spotted from outside. Axman
Really nice pics! The maze looks trippy!!!
dubaidave
Next up was Ripley`s Haunted adventure, motion cineama and the museum itself. The Haunted adventure was the only place I was not allowed to photograph inside. They had a couple of actors and lots of animatronics. The best one was a man falling off a ladder. Â Enjoy. Thanks to the manager for showing us round. Funnyland is up next. It was the usual Ripley's stuff The other side of the plane that protrudes from the building last but not least the museum itself. Beware the next few pics are a bit geeky. It was quite a big theatre Did I say Thank you to David for putting up with me? The sync was a little off, but overall a good effort even the waiting areas were themed. This is the film we saw. The motion cinema See that guy in red gets everywhere. the sound
Infinity is a total rip off of the Gold Coast's version of Infinity.
dubaidave
Pattaya Funny Land is a, if you excuse the pun, funny little park. Located at the Pattaya Park Tower hotel It has 2 coasters a tower shot and a water park, oh and a very tall tower you can jump off. I am sure this is what you have all been waiting for Maybe it was just me, but this ride almost looked homemade. The restraints didn't lock properly so you got a bit of bonus airtime when you hit the top. The other main ride here was the tower shot They even have an on ride photo But you do get a couple of pops of airtime Its quite rough The ride itself is not bad The moment of impact is not much fun That hits this part of the car It has one of those rotating things. Slalom is very rough. and has a strange lift hill This is the working coaster The water park We decided to go back down in the lift or you can jump off you can go down on this cable car Can you see those wires? see, I told you The tower itself is 55 stories high. The Cheat
Is that a Reverse Freefall?
dubaidave
OK here we go. This is the infamouse launched coaster at Pattaya Park Funny Land. As far as I know it has never operated. It used a compressed air powered cable launch system. The seats have been removed as have several air tanks and a strange plunger device on the back. Â I knew this coaster was in a closed section of the park so I did not think I would be able to get very close. As it happened I was able to climb all over the track. one last thank you to David for helping me represent. If you look closely you can see the top of Pattaya Park Tower. The view from our hotel one last look at the tower This must have been a great ride to see testing. Extreme POV The seats had been removed am I the only person that would claim this as a credit? Brake fins And the remaining air tank Here's the cable The ride still looks quite good from a distance.
kaliboiryda510
Excelent photos of the reverse freefall!!! Thats IS what i have been waiting for!! And is that a key still in the panel?! Did your guys turn it and see if there was any power to the ride?! Haha!! I hope not though!! Â Well, an all together awsome P:TR!!!
dubaidave
^ No we didnt turn the key. There must have been some power because they were charging batteries from the ride.
dubaidave
This was a bit of an unknown for me. I knew they had a shuttle loop and that was about it. I also knew that they had recently bought 2 new coasters. Overall I thought this park was great. Unfortunately the was construction work everywhere. Oh, and main street was a copy of disney's, well, sort of. The entry plaza looks really nice. Lets move inside the park The track was getting a nice coast of paint. Just in case you didn't know what type of coaster it was. and a Condor I think. There is also a flying carpet ride in there somewhere Up skirt of the giant drop, also in the car par. That's not coaster track on the right. Hmm whats that in the back of the photo? Yay, coater track But first I spy something in the car park. dubaidave
This park is quite strange. Bits are in need of repair, other bits are really nice and some bits are really well themed. The entrance plaza has seen better days. I said there was lots of construction in this update. This is where the Boomerang is going I think its about time they took this down. It even had an inside area The main street area looked kind of nice, in a faded way on the other, market stalls. on one side you have main street rip off And that that's what was in the car park
Rastuso
What was the deal with that alternate way of leaving the tower? Was it basically a zipline from hell? That looked pretty insane, very freaky with teh person actually holding on, although I'd have to assume you were harnessed to the line. Still looked aweful steep with an abrupt ending. Â Rastus
IceDragon
wow... I never thought it was that easy to get close to the reverse freefaller! I wonder if it did have enough power to get the train to move... Â Looks like good fun, although some parts come awfully close to trees... I've had bad experiences with rollercoasters and trees... dubaidave
^^ Yes it was a zipline. they were straped on with a hearness but the line was so steep it was not funny. Â ^ I had no idea as to how close you can get to that ride. It was amazing to walk along the track.

dubaidave
Oops, forgot to finish Siam park. Here are the rest of the photos. I was amazed during this whole trip how close I was able to get to many of the rides. I asked if I could walk onto the SLC construction site and they said yes. Sideloop! Its an almost finished SLC. oo, whats that over there?
dubaidave
Here's an overview of the rest of the park. Wonder World coming next Lets hope Captain got some shots of it running It was kind of hidden. There was a shuttle loop but it was closed today. Some needed a bit of work Some areas were really nice This ride was closed, but looked really nice. I liked it All the models moved It was actually very well done. This was the other dinosaur attraction This was an actual jeep ride can you say, lawsuit?
DATman
Is that a new SLC layout, or has that been done before?
ECZenith
^ Looks like the typical SLC layout. I really like the color scheme!
captain
thanks Dave for the photos. Â As I wrote in my last update I can`t imagine what you liked about Siam Park City. I think this park has some tropical vegetation, but this is thailand. Normally this park should close down for some months, because there`s to much construction going on at the moment. I`m sorry that I also have no photo from the running loop coaster, but I was kind of lucky to ride this piece of s*** (me and my girl were the only people in the park who liked to ride this coaster). Â But thanks for all the photos, you did a lot more photos than we did (after some 2000 from china we were a bit laid back in Thailand).
dubaidave
Hi, My main problem is that I dont get to that many theme parks, living in the middle east, so I think I see parks as somewhat better than they really are. Â Having seen the state of the Shuttle loop I am slightly glad it was closed. lol
thrillrideseeker
Hey, great TR! I loved the construction photos of the SLC. Is it just me or do most SLC's have the same layout? Anyways great TR! I really enjoyed it! ~Matthew
Shockwave
Is it just me or do most SLC's have the same layout ^Well that one doesn't! Â Nice photos Dave. That Shuttle Loop has certinaly seen better days.
Canobie Fan
Is it just me or do most SLC's have the same layout ^Well that one doesn't! Â Nice photos Dave. That Shuttle Loop has certinaly seen better days. Â You are right. Its layout its layout is a bit different but it still has a clone. There is a SLC in China (also vekoma that uses that same layout. Â The rolls after the sidewinder element go off a different way from the stnd. SLC. so the ending is different. Â RCDB has photos of the china one.. But im to lazy to find it right now.
