Chadley wrote:True, it may not be a "one-of-a-kind" for us enthusiasts, but to the general public, this is a brand new type of coaster experience for the majority of them.

Plus, how many people of the gen. public even know SFGA or GL exists?? We'll have to wait and see how successful all this is to determine if this is ignorance, better use for a ride, or just good marketing.

I strongly disagree with the "GP is dumb" argument. Look at theme park attendance figures. The parks that invest the most into their parks get the largest number of guests. End of story.

I don't see how anyone can defend this awful decision. Here's a few reasons why this blows:

Maverick
Griffon
Flying Turns
Mystery Mine
Renegade

Everyone else seems to be installing awesome rides this year.

For the GP that visit KI this is a awesome ride. Only two people at work today know that the coaster was called X-Flight from GL. The other people think its new.

^ And are they all season pass holders? Are they buying season passes this year based solely on this ride being built? I agree with ginzo, but I'm still happy we got anything at all, as I wasn't planning on any coasters for this year. I admit it, right here and now, so all you fanboys can get a warm fuzzy feeling: I'm glad there's a coaster being installed at KI instead of one being taken out and not replaced by anything in the short term (see Geauga Lake). I know there's a plan for that park, and i understand all the attendence figures yada yada yada and how six flags didn't have a clue when they tried to turn GL into a park competing with Cedar Point (Hellooooooo!! Lake Erie and Cedar Point > Geauga Lake and SFWofA!). Even understanding all that, I'm still glad we're at the receiving end. Hopefully we'll see an exciting NEW attraction at KI in the near future. That's my only hope. My only concern is that new coaster will be pushed back, because the GP thinks this IS a new coaster. That is why I'm dissapointed. Clear it up for you fanboys? Can any of you comprehend that logic?

Really, then explain to me how Kings Island and Canada's Wonderland lead the industry in attendence for seasonal amusement parks? Those parks haven't had a good roller coaster installation for years. Yet for some reason they are getting a huge number of guests. The GP seem to love the cheap installations of Italian Jobs and Disk-O coasters. These 2 parks seem to prove you don't need great coasters to get a huge number of guests. As long as your park resides in a huge metropolitain area and you get a huge number of season passholders by updating kiddy attractions, your park will be financially successful.

True, and none of these installations happened at a Paramount Park. What would Paramount be installing at KI this year? Perhapes a huge Disko coaster themed to Survivor? More Kid rides?

Yeah, I have to agree here. The GP is dumb. Yeah, when KI invests in a new ride, they get hiked attendance because not everybody goes to these places every single year. When they add something new, the people come back. It's been my experience that pretty much everybody around here thinks there are one or two Six Flags... KK and St. Louis. Most people I know have no clue about SFGAm or GL or anywhere else. A lot of them know CP, but not all. The GP is very dumb compared to enthusiasts. As much of a bad decision I think this is capacity-wise, on average, it's going to be a brand new concept to most people.

^ What paramount would do and what Cedar Fair will do are different, and I don't think you should bash someone because they aren't as excited as you are about a used coaster. We're all happy with the certified pre-owned ford focus. But don't bash Joe and I for looking at the new Lexus and feeling a little envious.

Here's a good color scheme for Firehawk, since there isn't any animation of the ride yet. Sorry it's small.

It's pretty close to the description of colors on the press release.

So you guys are telling me the GP is "dumb"? They don't give a rat's flying A$$ about coasters and parks! Yes we like roller coasters, but is it necessary to call others dumb because they don't have the same hobby as we do?

^there's supposed to be an animation on Cincinnati.com, but it doesn't appear to be working. If the thumbnail for it is correct, though, the rails will be white.

^That's Stealth. People always use the wrong photos for coasters. I see it happen ALL THE TIME.
