Yeah I totally agree with Reed here.

It seems like Universal is always a few years behind the times. Fear Factor shows went in as the show was being pulled, now there's a Simpsons rumor when that show is in like it's 18th season, etc.

I've never been a Potter fan, and this will not sit well with me.

Boo. Lost Continent is great. This idea seems not so great. And like others have said, by the time this is done, Potter mania will pretty much be at an end. It seems like going with a theme not based on some pop culture idea would be something that you'd get a lot more mileage out of. Re-doing Sinbad and Poseidon are not bad ideas. But giving them a Potter makeover is just going to make them look pretty stale a few years down the road.

Of course, perhaps this will lead to a re-theming of the Mythos menu. Anyone know if tomato & mozzarella salad was consumed at any point in the Potter books? That might be a way to get it back on the menu...

I like Harry Potter, but I'm not afraid to admit that this is really a stupid idea. Harry Potter is almost done with, as the final book comes out this July and then all will be left is the movies and the franchise will slowly die out. This is gong to be a HUGE mistake by Universal and they will regret it.

I think Intamin should make a donkey!

Welll you know.... the last Harry Potter was PG-13.....

I don't know what to think about this. DD will still fit the theme because of the dragon's in Harry Potter so I doubt that it would change much or even at all. I dunno we'll have to wait and see how the general public views it.... in 5 years.

This doesn't sit right with me either. Harry Potter seems to be the wrong license for IOA. Though there are many young adults that enjoy Harry Potter, myself included, the license is generally considered to be a children's license. Children and IOA, no matter how hard Universal tries, is a tough fit. I'd personally go and try to get Lord of the ringy dingy ding-a-ling dings over Harry Potter for IOA, but I'm not in charge. In any regard, Lost Continent is/was a magnificent idea for themeing that I thoroughly enjoy. Harry Potter doesn't really completely fit the land as it is set now. If they are going to retheme the entire area to be Harry Potter, that's going to be a lot of work. The whole Greek mythology and Sinbad side of Lost Continent would have to be completely rethemed, which includes Mythos and probably the elimination of Sinbad and Poseidon, as everyone has mentioned before. I really can't argue too many negatives on the latter of that statement, other than cost. I wonder what the time table would be for this. I can't imagine it taking any less than a year, and if they did it in a year’s time I'd be amazed. Seeing that book 7 comes out July 21st, I agree with Elissa and Reed, it's too little to late. Yes, it's a great marketing license, but it seems they're two steps behind again.

First- I, personally, dont think that Harry Potter is a childrens book. It has some very dark things in it. Dont get me wrong, I love the Harry Potter series, but I think its more for teens and young adults. After saying that, most of the actual Harry Potter fans are children, so, I think that just for the actual readers to get to be, lets say 25??? we have some good 15 years. So I think that its going to be a good long term add to IOA.

Second- seeing the huge level of detail that Lost Continent actually has I can assure that Harry Potters Island will be also really detailed and cool.

Third- I dont think they will dare to touch Dueling Dragons.

After all this I can say that Im excited about Harry Potter being added to a theme park.

A lot of people are pointing towards the timing as to a main reason for it being a bad idea, but how often do you see a ride based on a show or movie come out the same year or even a year after? The only exception I can think of is that Batman and Robin came out in 1997, and the next year SFGAdv came out with The Chiller. Look at Italian Job, it came out in 2003, and rides based off of it came out in 2005 and 2006. The movie may not have been as popular at the time, but people still like the rides.

I am with most people in that I would rather have the Lost Continent stay the same, but I don't think it will be such a failure to do the Harry Potter thing

I just dont see how its going to work. What could they possibly do to give it a totally different feel? If they want to just change the shows then do it! I wonder what the "harry potter is the devil" group is going to say about this! :lmao:
