Anyway, nice TR. I'll definately visit that park one day.

And Gold Reef as well, but train your muscles first. If you can lift a 12.5kg gold bar with your thumb and index finger, it's yours.

I don't know how to ask this without sounding like jerk, but what parts of Africa are dangerous for tourists to visit? Also, are either of the parks in Africa in bad areas?

I doubt that I'll be going to Africa just tor ride coasters, but maybe if I get a job that brings me there then that will work...

Also, great TR, the log ride looks like it has some good

well, a easier qeustion would be where in africa its safe.... yes...

well, ratnaga junction and gold reef city are in real good ares. Gold reef city is in a casino area and ratnaga junction is situated next to one of the biggest malls in the world. the mall is bigger than ratanga itself!

Both parks are in good areas outside of the cities

well, 'if' your gonna work in SA, stay out of johannesburg. i HATE that city. its full of crime and very dangerous. Durban and Port Elizabeth doesn't have that many crime and Cape Town would be my number 1 choice for a tourist. there's lot to see and its really beutiful there.

Just stay out of Johannesburg!!

I'm from South Africa, but let's face it. You get crime all over the world. You just need to know what to look out for. Obviously you won't walk alone at night anywhere and you won't walk with all your money and jewelry flashing in dodgy places. Both Gold Reef City and Ratanga Junction close around 5 PM which makes them quite safe. There are also quite a bit of money invested in security for the parks so there should be no worries.

I must honestly say you'll be surprised how cheap it is to go to South Africa. I've just been on a business trip to San Diego and Los Angeles. I visited Knotts Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain and it was really expensive for me. The Rand versus the Dollar is almost 8 Rand for 1 Dollar. If I had to do a quick comparison - Knotts Berry Farm costs $43.95 for entry. In South African Rand that would be about R351. Entry for Ratanga Junction costs R100 and Gold Reef City R70. That is less than $15 and then all the rides are free! You can also consider travelling from Cape Town where Ratanga Junction is to Johannesburg where Gold Reef City is for less than $40 one way on a low cost airline. If you're converting Dollars to Rands or even Pounds to Rands (about R14 for 1 Pound) you're still winning.

Ratanga Junction looks like a fabulous park. I especially like the rapid river with the crashed airplane.

I wonder whether Tarantula, their Vekoma Waikiki Wave, is still onsite or removed. It's a shame that they closed such a unique and rare ride... also because they have like only one decent flat left : /
