okinawaboy11
Yay working pictures Okely Dokely, so here goes. I was invited by the Eastern PA Rep of ACE to go to Lakemont park for *FREE* ERT on Skyliner because the Minor League Allstar Game was in town. Sooooo I asked zeee papa, and he say Wii! So we live in Germantown MD. And for those of you that don't know, its a good 2 and a half hours up to Altoona. Which was ok with me, my dad, and my brother. So we began zee journey. Turns out, Google maps said 3 hours exact, but then mapquest said 2 and a half hours...Mapquest won. Actually...The navigation in the car won. It calculated 2 hours and like 16.4325363543 minutes. Anywho, we got there, and well we walked into the management thingy office and got our free all day ride tickets. BTW it was like 6 when we got there. Ok, is it me? Or is Lakemont park the Six Flags of Small family owned parks? Not the operations (Which were decent) but how many Punk little teens and there friends were there. DAMN. Anywho, your reading for the coasters We headed to Leap The Dips first. Which I was REALLY excited for. Sure only like 9 foot drops. But still, oldest in the world? Who wouldn't want to ride it? Turns our we waited like 30 minutes because one, they were only running one car. And two, they would only let a MAX of 2 people in the first row. No one in the second row. Why? Dunno. Anywho, I really like it, sure it wasn't the high tech thrills of today but it was SO fun. It just made me laugh so hard. Maybe its the small thoughts in the back of your mind that it feels like the car is going to jump the track, and possible the structure feels like its going to fall apart. (Which it did almost, it did come a little off the track when we went over one of the dips). After that, we uh...rode the Skydiver. Ok, I saw one of these on like RCT or something, and I REALLY wanted to ride it. Ha...ha.ha.ha. YEAH never again. I squeased in there with my bro (Which will be pictured below). Right away I felt claustraphobic, which rarely happens to me. The entire time i was screaming soooo much. But it wasnt the AHH im going to Die scream, it was more of the ehhh this is kinda fun....but I still might die in the process scream. Let's just say when it went backwards it was MUCH better. After that we walked around, got some food. Rode most of the flats. Which were really fun. Then...Tobbogan. NOT the best Idea. For years I've always seen pics of Chance Tobbogans and just wanted to try them. so I did. Well all in all, lets just say I won't be riding it again. Ever. Then we headed over to Skyliner. That was where it was all at. I mean ALL of it. Skyliner is such a classic. It's smooth, fast, and Airtime Filled. And when I say airtime filled, I mean, like Millennium Force first drop airtime. Superman: RoS airtime. Voyage airtime. EL TORO airtime! Yes, tis true. I rode the very last seat for my first ride. NOT a good idea. Why you might ask? Because I wasn't prepared for whats ahead. So I pull the simple buzzbar down. And I'm off. Fast chain. Turn and drop. OMFG. I and launched out of my seat and slam my thighs onto the buzz bar. Jesus, if that thing wasnt there I wouldnt be writing this TR . Anyways the ride is just SO re-rideable because of the airtime. And in the front its the same. No airtime on the first drop, but when you go back up into the turn around, theres almost the same or more airtime than in the back on the first drop. Yeah, ya'll HAVE to go ride this coaster. It really is a classic. Uhh yeah we got about 2 hours (Maybe a little less, but I arrived earlier so I got even more rides) and about 45 rides. Watched about 15 minutes of the baseball game stopped on the lift yeah we had the best seat in the house. Then we got to watch fireworks after the ERT. Plus we got free food too. It was awesomely wicked. Thanks Lakemont Park! Pictures Below. (Let's hope I get them in order this time.) Told you so! Going down the hill pictured above. We discovered something frightfully delightfull. Our SUV was getting....53.7 MPG!?!?! Hybrids rule! Some valley in Maryland on Highway 70 in approx. 10 minutes..those clouds will dump about 3 inches of rain on us. AND flip a Ford F-150 over and cause mile long delays We had some WICKED weather on the drive home For all you flower enthusiasts. For all you Italians out there, we ate here for lunch. NoOoooOOOoo it's to early to go home (PS its the next day. We stayed at the Ramada, which was actually OK.) More Fireworks These are the best kind of fireworks. The ones that crackle Weee chaser lights Mmm the back. My brother, me, and some dude Ok ok, I have to admit. That seat above, is the ONE seat that sucks to ride in. It hurt so bad. All the others ofcourse. Are nice and smooth. More Riders. Ha back seat = the best. Ugh if you REALLY wanted to see, here's some baseball.I'm not gunna lie, that is the nicest Minor League ball park I have ever seen. It's like a mini camden yards. Airtime at both ends. The Drop and when coming up into the turn around. Teehehehehe giggle giggle giggle! This is to show you how close Skyliner and the ballpark are to eachother. Ball park Ha. To bad they suck. Oh and btw for all of you other people who have lives besides coasters (ha right like theres people on this site like that) Ichiro in person, is a realy prick. My brother and I met him once, he's in it for JUST the money We got all this plus 3 drinks for like 13 bucks. see six flags, dont be afraid to lower food prices. You will still be able to keep your parks open! Can you say 5x better than Six Flags America food? Yes. The Ride of Doom slash(/) semi-fun Psh, the only one that will pwn you in this game is meh!!!111!!@#$^@ Mas rides. Signature shot worthy? You decide. Tehehe this ride makes me giggle like a little school girl Come on Howie! You get to ride the oldest coaster in the world. BE HAPPY! We arrive to mist and clouds clearing after a rain storm from the valley that the Park is situated in. It was a beautiful sight.

eddie200330
As a resident of Cumberland, Lakemont is only 1 1/2 hours away. We visit every year at least once sometimes more depending on boredom. Skyliner has got to be the most wicked back seat/first drop ride I have ever been on. the bruises are worth it!!! And yes LTD is quite friggin scary if only for the rattling and shaking!! Nice to see you had a good time but you should have gone early in the morning and made a quick stop 10 minutes up the road at Bland's/Del Grosso's amusement park. They have a very spinny, spinning Wild Mouse!!
okinawaboy11
^ We were actually going to go to Delgrosso's. But frankly, I can't remember why we didn't go. lol.
arson
Lakemont is a nice park... it's only $8 for admission, so why not go? Skyliner is worth the price right there. Leap-the-Dips is a manually-braked coaster, and under the state of Pennsylvania, all friction-braked wooden coasters have to have a computer-controlled brake system to run more than one train (see also: Comet at Waldameer). I also know that the ride has a hard time running with more than two adults in the car.
eddie200330
As far as I can think back, since they redid the LTD, it has only ever ran 1 train. The first year or so they also charged $2.50 per ride!!!! And yes, you can't beat the $8 for as little people seem to visit the park. Anytime I have ever been there the last few years, my group was the only one riding the rides and the Skyliner had to wait for enough people to send the train out!!! okinawaboy11
Hmm ^ Then Lakemont was breaking the rules. we heard multiple comments from people behind us. They were all asking the operator the same question. "We were here last time and you ran 5 trains, why are you only running one?!" That comment came from MULTIPLE people. eddie200330
Do they even have 5 trains for the LTD?? I don't think so....
okinawaboy11
They have 5 or 6 http://rcdb.com/ig243.htm?picture=14 7 if none are on the track.
Guest
I did an ACE (Yes be shocked) event at Lakemont last October. They had 3-4 cars running that day, but they also had a good 150 people at the event to warrant that many cars.
307
That launch of airtime after the first hill is awesome. But that's about the only part I liked on Skyliner. It was decent enough but nothing special. However I enjoyed your pictures. I was excited that there was a ballpark right there and was hoping that there'd be a game so I could drag my girlfriend to see it. But no. And nice picture of the crash, too. Looks like it happened right before you got there.
